    I'm a US fan, and I know I'm supposed to be bias in favor of great dirt horses, but the middle half mile of this race is the most ridiculous thing I'm seen in racing. He shouldn't be able to run that course, like that, and still win. Much less by open lengths. 40 years I've been watching racing, and Frankel is the best I've seen.

      To be fair though bro,FRANKEL was that good,I think any tactics would have worked,I could have rode him to victory,you could probably put him in a five furlong race and he would have won,his first race was over 7,I think the Frankel team made a huge mistake by not flying him over for the Breeders cup on his retirement season,I watch it every year and my opinion is he would have destroyed them,but hey,we will never ever know now,they just didn’t want to take that risk,him get upset,lose,and watch them good old stud fees take a plunge

    Are people really saying Frankel beat nothing? Haha! Here's a little stat for you that I figured out at the end of the 2015 Flat season.
    The two best horses of 2015 (Golden Horn & American Pharoh - A Derby & Arc winner this side of the Atlantic, and a Triple Crown winner the other side of the pond) combined in their life times won 16 races from 20 starts. They beat 27 individual G1 winners, who between them won 52 G1s.
    Frankel by himself won 14 races from 14 starts. He beat 25 individual G1 winners, who between them won 62 G1s.

      I worked out Frankels time compared with Secretariats on turf. Hard to get it exactly right due to obvious reasons like firmness of the turf but knowing Englands and the US, Englands would of been a much slower track. Even adding some seconds onto Frankels time his time is better than Secretariats over a mile and a half. Secretariats raced over a Mile and a Quarter on turf in his second to last race in 144 seconds. Frankel raced a mile in 97 seconds on slower ground. Even adding 2 seconds onto Frankels time he still beats secretariat by a second. If you work out how long it would take Frankel to do those extra furlongs. -

    • @katjahunt9507
      @katjahunt9507 Před 6 lety +9

      From a standing start Frankel covered the 1st furlong in 13.5s, the 2nd in 11.5, 3rd 11.0s 4th 11.0s and 5th in 11.5. he went Gr1 sprinters pace for 5 furlongs, the back to back 11.0 sec furlongs saw him cover 20yds each and every second, almost the size of a cricket pitch every second. The Palace house 5F who was won by Tangerine Trees earlier and whose time over 5f was a second slower than Frankel. Yes his last 3 furlongs were slower but he was running into a headwind and out on his own.

    The greatest 8f-10f horse I have seen in well over 30 years. As he developed his career he demolished Canford Cliffs, a horse that had demolished a two time Breeders Cup winner. He sauntered over SNA with effortless ease, a Breeders Cup winner & beat the top class Excelebration countless times by many lengths, a horse that was barely beat a length in the Breeders Cup mile from a bad draw & on unfavourable ground.
    Frankels form is rock solid & anyone who tries to crab him is truly one sad individual who knows fuck all about racing at any level.

      +Paul Orchid Would not say Canford Cliff Demolished Goldikova, she was beaten 1L, but Olivier Pelier put up 2Ib over WGT that day on Goldikova so she lost her mares allowance - 2Ib equate to 1L over a mile, add to that Flash Dance kept crossing Goldikova pushing her wide - not a lot between those 2 horses, but that's not taking anything away from the great Frankel, just goes to show what a monster he was.

Best racing performance ever and am a national hunt fan, it knocked off my favourite all time race ever Viking Flagships win at Aintree 1995 with the jockeys missing cap again the same thing happened at Cheltenham in what was my second favourite race. Surely my top 3 can't be beaten

    never in the horse racing history a horse like Frankel existed who could perform to the same devastating level each time of asking.
    He is the greatest of them all, his form was still franked this year by past adversaries who continued to win G1 races and most likely you and me will never see a machine like Frankel ever again. Thats the sad thing. The good thing is that he's at stud and trying to replicate a horse of his talent!

      @@lee-annhellner9622 Hey :) Winx is one of the best I've seen as well, especially in terms of consistency at the highest level.. but, because of the competion she faces, there's only so far she can go with ratings.. which is why there's dozens of horses here rated higher than her in the last 50 years en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeform

    • @colind8525
      @colind8525 Před 5 lety

      Lee sog I agree on that one but because winx beat some horses that weren't superstars in Britain but still ran well at the top level in Australia relatively consistently I don't feel everyone in Britain gives winx the credit she's due, especially a certain annoying guy on TV. Still think Frankel is the better horse though

    • @leesog3203
      @leesog3203 Před 5 lety

      @@colind8525 I agree, a lot of people who claim to love racing don't really give her any credit, because they can't see beyond her racing in Australia. But she beat some decent horses like (a young) Highland Reel, a good horse on Humidor and very decent horse in Benbatl. That's great form and indicates a top quality horse. But anyone who knows racing would also recognise her 2016 Cox Plate and 2017 George Ryder as very special performances; and that's all we have to take from it, even though 25 other races where ordinary against ordinary horses (despite the obstacles she often endured).
      Talk of Frankel is probably what rubs people up the wrong way. There's just no comparison between Winx and Frankel. Ones rated 13lb higher than the other. So even with a weight allowance, 5 lengths he has on her. Maybe a lesser Frankel like the one we saw at Ascot (because he got out slow, plus the ground didn't help) she would get within 2 lengths, but I think she'd have struggled to go past a prime Cirrus Des Aigles.
      All in all, she's world class, but belongs in the Goldikova, Kingman, Almanzor bracket, and not the likes of Frankel, Dancing Brave and Brigadier Gérard :)

    How typical of the late, great sir Henry cecil to give us all the greatest race horse as he retired from his life, my only regret was that my dad wasn't around to see this rare phenomenon in action, when we were kids we had to call him Henry cecil whenever he put his hat on, I think he thought he realy was the great man cos without a shadow of doubt he was his greatest fan, if he was ever late home my mum would say 'I bet Cecil's had a couple of winners' and then he'd come through the door doing his best to stand up shouting 'Henry cecil is God . . • @makoceans

    4. Above all of these what matters most of all is the impression a horse leaves you before and after the race. Frankel every race was highly awaited with interest, starting from his 3rd race in career and he was always able to exceed the hype that people created before the raced This video we're on is probably the best demonstration of a horse fascinating class which was with 2-3 levels above anything in his time. To judge him we need to go back in time and judge him against the best of the best

    Hard whipped 4 times in the last furlong, exhausted at the end and beating an average Listed horse. This is the most ever rated performance in racing history. Frankel got alot better, maybe even became the best. But this race is rose tinted. Brigadier Gerard Beating Mill Reef and El Gran Senor beating Chief Singer is a different class.

I Believe SeaBird, Nijinsky, and Pent celebre were the Top 3 in Europe, and Secretariat the Greatest Middle Distance Horse of all Time
