      Sir Henry was at times a genius. Thank goodness that Khalid Abdullah trusted him with Frankel. After the disgraceful treatment by Sheik Mohammed, he went into a bad time but came back to train a superstar. He never bad mouthed Godophin publically and all credit to him - god knows he had enough reason. History has since proven that the aforesaid owner is a despicable and utterly ruthless person. Sir Henry was so terribly ill by the time the horse was retired, it was a sad sight to see what the ravages of cancer had done. to him; always so dapper and polite. I loved him to bits, he was so special and trained one of my favorites Bosra Sham - gorgeous chestnut filly. The best day for me was his comeback Oaks win with Light Shift. RIP lovely man.

    Just phenomenal! You have to realise that Nathaniel is a world class racehorse and as good as an average winner of this race as he prefers an extra 2 furlongs. But Cirrus Des Aigles, that's a f*cking Champion. A horse as good as Cracksman, and a horse who performed at least as well as him in his two demolition jobs of the same G1 race. Well just look how Frankel cruised up powerfully to Nathaniel, and past him onto Cirrus Des Aigles.. Then STILL on the steel, goes past him and delivers a final surge in ground he hates to win the race well. Its absolutely one of his greatest performances, even if people expected a greater visual burst of acceleration - but please just admire what he accomplished getting out late, running on ground he hates and the unbelievable way he cruised up to multiple G1 Champions. He was a horse blessed, and touched by The Creator in ways we may never see again. An outstanding racehorse, and the absolute gold standard of equine racing greatness.

      Yeah for sure he retired too early ....but then again money talks 🙄.....if I remember right they were given 50million to retire him to stud ☹️ , money should never determine how long a racehorse races ....his legacy could and should have been so much more , it’s an actual travesty

    If there has ever been a better horse, on turf, than Frankel, i have never seen it. And i have watched a lot of racing. Queally tried hard to get him beat at Royal Ascot, but he still came through.Excelebration would have been ranked as one of the all time great milers but for Frankel.

      Yes. Firstly, I guess they think their races on dirt is what horse racing should truly be. And, TBH, many of those top European horses (including Frankel himself) are not without the influence or the legacy of Northern Dancer, which belongs to the US and Canada and, in some Yank's view, eventually shows the true superiority of American horse racing.

    I surely do but what make him so special is the fact that Henry said he the best horse he ever trained so when you look at all his Derby wins slip anchor reference point commander in chief and oath Frankel must have been something out of this world not to mention all his other classic horses. The question on everybody lips would be would we see anything like him again. The answer to this I very much doubt it.

    • @johnwedgbury6817
      @johnwedgbury6817 Před 5 lety

      @@bgardiner3354 oh come on cirrus des agles was well known to run 7 or 8 lbs better on soft than his level of performance on quicker going. frankel was untested on it so cirrus had the edge ground wise, it's silly to say he didn't. until a horse has won on a certain going, it hasn't. simple as that.

    • @bgardiner3354
      @bgardiner3354 Před 5 lety

      john wedgbury 7 or 8 lbs is nonsense. He was better on testing tracks but it assumes Frankel was less effective on a testing track. He won his maiden on soft going, incidentally beating Nathaniel. Given he was undefeated how do you assume it was in CDA’s favour?

    A great performance considering everything that could go against him, did so. The ground, poor start etc.
    Nobody can say for sure which horse is or was the best ever.
    But Frankel most certainly belongs in the pantheon of elite champions.
    Only a true champion could effortlessly go past the late St. Nicholas Abbey the way Frankel did at York over an extended 10f.
    That sight alone will stay with me forever.

      Watch a horse called WINX Turnbull Stakes 2018. Frankel had 1 problems his pace maker didn't know where he was. Winx the best in the world has won on every type of track obviously not dirt but heavy 10 won by 8 good track won by 7. Who are these horses he is beating NO ONE. He never travelled and you POMS give Winx shit for not travelling lol. The way Frankel was travelling he should have won this race by 10 lengths. Our Winx would have blown him away and we would give you 3 pacemakers.
