Four years has passed and still relevant!
I followed the original advice and purchased Mizuno Hurricane. They had a flat insole and were very low to the ground. Hurricanes supported me perfectly through pivots and lateral movements for about two years. But it's time for them to retire. Since Mizuno had discontinued Hurricane and they are nowhere to find in my size, I had tried their other volleyball shoes. It's not the same. Mizuno raised a heel and added more cushion - which made them better for volleyball but less suitable for boxing. Mizuno new models are more narrow as well (issue for those with flat foot).
For the record, the Mizuno Wave Hurricane successor is Wave Lightning.
I've got Yonex Poweר Cushion 65Z3. And boy, do I love it. It's very supportive (while soft), flat (no arch) and super low to the ground. For those of your that have a flat foot, the best choice will be a Yonex Power Cushion 65Z3 WIDE.
Great thank you goes to the author of this video as it is still extremely helpful even after so many years :)

Oh gosh this is a great video! Beginner equipment advice I've needed for couple of months 😂 I use Hokas to run, I get shin splints no matter what shoe I use :/ I have 16oz everlast consumer grade gloves. I do go to a club with rubber floors and do NOT use running or causal athletic running style shoes because that extra foam on the sole edge will catch doing ring circles or any lateral motion. I'm definently gong to try some indoor court shoes, if this pandemic stops. It's def killing gyms and clubs in my city but a couple of them might survive it. The landlords are going to hurt lots of people because apartment dwellers aren't covered from eviction, and 3 million people are going to be on unemployment for months, which is half normal wages. Hang in there! 🥊🙋

I'm an Asics man, I found that putting in a decent inner sole makes them last much longer. Most runners say you need to replace trainers in 2 years even if hardly used but a decent replacement insole seems to make them like new again.

Great advices, as usually. Just my 5 cents - I used to train the hard way, shadow boxing with a mouth piece, running in the boxing shoes, heavy bag conditioning with a partner destabilizing it to learn landing hard no matter what and land properly - to make it all close to the real thing, and to be used to the gear. What I realized down the years, that running in boxing shoes takes tall on your knees no matter how tough your ankles and achilles are, because running on a hard surface in boxing shoes with little to no cushioning they provide does harm your knees

Have done pretty well since with the Everlast Men's Elite, which is a hybrid shoe for boxing & conditioning. About to try out mixing in Adidas Samba indoor soccer shoe (designed for use on astroturf) - to save wear and tear on the Everlasts. Might be a lower cost option to some of the other indoor court shoes from the video?
