Finally a video about something so basic yet so important!!!
high tech shoes low tech feet low tech shoes high tech feet
RIGHT?
My man!! Honestly you should be doing commercials for a sports shoe company. Well done and informative.
or continue with this and stay neutral, I prefer he continues with informative unbiased information provision. :)
Some people have to stay honest and not go into marketing haha
there should be a youtuber like you for everything in the world. life would be sooo easy
top notch video.
every other video is some "expert" reading the description off of the box.
you are actually giving us important information gathered from years of experience.
liked and subscribed.
This is the video I've been waiting for. Why hasn't anyone else even considered making such a video? Top quality as usual.
I use wrestling shoes for everything (sparring, working out, etc.) and they work just fine
do they work for running?
@@Burrito69killer Not unless you want some injuries, they have 0 cushioning.
keep the vids coming JT, I enjpy every one and with me being new to training and the sport overall, I cant tell you how helpful these have been for me this passed year.
Absolutely phenomenal knowledge of foot gear. I had the same wrestling shoes in high school and they lasted me about 2.5 years of rigorous training before I had bought a new pair for college. Anyway great videos and nice honesty. Really the best channel out
You Sir are the most informative when it comes to boxing and jump roping!
Awesome video! I’ve been having knee pain when using my cross training shoes for boxing training. I switched to running shoes and had zero lateral support. This video helped me allot. Thank you!
Awesome info. You can really see that you speak from years of experience. Thanks for taking the time to share!
Thanks a lot JT! As always, this video is a big help.
I recently picked up boxing as a 50 yr old trying to get into shape. The club I joined is more of a Muay Thai club and I trashed my right foot because I went barefoot. Now I am suffering from plantar fasciitis but I must say those sole supports are really awesome!!
Thanks for this!
finally i got the reason i feel so bad when i had my running shoes on in the ring
Me too
Love this guy big fan
Fantastic and informative video! Love that you touched on other types of shoes and their pros and cons.
I can't tell you how helpful your channel has been since I have started to box. Keep up the great work man!
Came here for boxing shoes, got the much more than that. I now know what to look in a shoe. That heel support, and insole part being deeper, side support all in all, 12/10. Awesome.
love your content bro! thank you, greetings from Vienna
Thanks for this! Custom insoles are a must for me in whatever I’m doing.
Great videos recently brother really appreciate it !
Thanks for your vids, they help a lot!
Four years has passed and still relevant!
I followed the original advice and purchased Mizuno Hurricane. They had a flat insole and were very low to the ground. Hurricanes supported me perfectly through pivots and lateral movements for about two years. But it's time for them to retire. Since Mizuno had discontinued Hurricane and they are nowhere to find in my size, I had tried their other volleyball shoes. It's not the same. Mizuno raised a heel and added more cushion - which made them better for volleyball but less suitable for boxing. Mizuno new models are more narrow as well (issue for those with flat foot).
For the record, the Mizuno Wave Hurricane successor is Wave Lightning.
I've got Yonex Poweר Cushion 65Z3. And boy, do I love it. It's very supportive (while soft), flat (no arch) and super low to the ground. For those of your that have a flat foot, the best choice will be a Yonex Power Cushion 65Z3 WIDE.
Great thank you goes to the author of this video as it is still extremely helpful even after so many years :)
Awesome review! Thanks 🥊🥊
Solid details on the shoes I was looking for to train in. I was concerned about ruining my boxing boots and wanted a shoe that’s closer to that feel with durability. I appreciate you brother thank you for your wisdom. I will navigate my way through those shoes you recommended.
Thumbnails on another level 💯 🔥
Awesome Timeless Video thank you.
respectttt..always value your time and advise
man i have learned so much from these videos!!
Futsal shoes are great too. Flat sole, heel counter, lateral support.
This cleared up a lot of confusion for me, thank you
Thank you Jason! Love the video's. Right now I use Reebok running shoes as my indoor shoe. So I will be looking into a new pair for sure, because these have a high back for shock absorption.
Great video, thanks man!
ANY video by this guy is legit, keep it up brohammer
Extremely useful, thanks!
Damn was hoping for that shout out.
Great video coach!
Great video that gets to the point. 🙏
thanks for the tips,,, my running shoes lasted me 4 years,,, ripped on the sides now by the small toes, but still good for light workouts
I just wear hyperdunks. They’re great. Hugs my foot, lightweight and the grip you feel when moving and throwing is unmatched by traditional boxing shoes.
Use for lower body workout?
Do you still wear hyperdunks? If so what kind did you use/ or do.
If you changed to boxing shoes/boots, what kind of boxing shoes did u get?
Kudos for making this video
Very interesting about the badminton shoe, makes sense. I just got my yonix's today, the exact same type. Trying them on i can feel the support and agility these shoes offer. Greatfull for the tip man!
Keep up them vids ;)
You still using them? What version did you get? I'm planning on buying some too.
Cheers
This video is excellent and very helpful!!!!
Thank you so much!
Very Nice!!👍
thanks coach, ill be going to a boxing gym soon wish my career luck coach thanks for teaching me boxing
At the start i used old sneakers with a flat sole and damn, i had problems with my feet. I later changed to running shoes and it is sooo much better! The shock absorbtion in those running shoes is really amazing. I can train harder and longer without pain in my feet.
same i used my vans and it caused problems in my whole leg 😢 i’m going to go get different ones
@@stillsake I’m dealing with that now it started with my heel now it’s moving up my leg. Taking week off gonna use my running shoes
Good lecture about boxing shoes
Thank you so much
Very informative, thank you. Was curious what I should use since I do a lot of training outdoors on concrete and didn't want to ruin my boxing boots doing that.
Hey mate, I never thought about using court shoes before, but after watching this I tried a few pairs on today and wow.
Just finished my first session in the ASICS Gel Rocket 9 and my feet are already thanking me.
Very big upgrade on my Vans/ Converse Chucks.
Thanks for the advice
Do you find they’re still treating you well?
I searched those ASICS gel rocket 9’s up and I’m planning on buying them so do they feel good when you are in the ring just doing drills and mitt work?
Still waiting to see you in some fighters corner in a PPV fight you are a great coach!
don't know why this video still hit only 70k views, but this video is phenomenal
This helps a lot
Use the Everlast or Title boxing shoes, they work like a dream
Thank you
I use mizuno wave universe 4 for training . They’re an old pair but I hadn’t used them until just recently. They’ve been sitting in my closet for a while. They’re awesome. One of the lightest shoes when it came out and very durable. Feels like I’m barefoot.
I was looking for this on your channel like a few days ago, but it obviously didn't exist!!!
Awsoooome thank you coach 👍
Love the thumbnail.
Good video thanks
Nice video, pretty useful
ive found that basketball shoes help with support to the ankle and achillies when shadow boxing and bag work
I do not care who you are sponsored by, I really do not, but I enjoy watching the videos. Thank you for the tip.
JT killing it!.. maybe a video of cutting weight before a match? Your opinion on suana suits and what not.
+Richard Alegria good idea
for me the key is the shoe should have proper support on the outside of the toes...because as a traditional boxer your right foot you push off from sideways and normal trainers split down the outer edge
A while back Nike made a very bulked up wrestling training shoe. Full sole. Really could take a beating. Shoes lasted 3 years of hard training. I dont know the model and never found them again.
Awesome.
as soon as you pointed out the hard heel plastic all i cud think about was wheel kicking someone with it
I find casual shoes, great for boxing training, I has a pair of adidas with flat sole and thats what I used, Im thinking now of getting some lacoste
do one on headgear please!
Don't be afraid to spend more on headgear
Oh gosh this is a great video! Beginner equipment advice I've needed for couple of months 😂 I use Hokas to run, I get shin splints no matter what shoe I use :/ I have 16oz everlast consumer grade gloves. I do go to a club with rubber floors and do NOT use running or causal athletic running style shoes because that extra foam on the sole edge will catch doing ring circles or any lateral motion. I'm definently gong to try some indoor court shoes, if this pandemic stops. It's def killing gyms and clubs in my city but a couple of them might survive it. The landlords are going to hurt lots of people because apartment dwellers aren't covered from eviction, and 3 million people are going to be on unemployment for months, which is half normal wages. Hang in there! 🥊🙋
Didn't know you were from The Six! Represent!
I love your videos very in depth!
I do muaythai, and the canvas ring floors are too shap for my tender feet. I've found the badminton shoes to be perfect solution for training muaythai. They grip the canvas floor well without slippering
for training i prefer using just socks because they just make you fly but sparring i use the light weight boxing shoes
I'm really thankful for this video. Since training for boxing I've noticed how fast running shoes wear out. Lots of great info here!
Hi. This is a great video. There’s so little information out there about footwear for boxing training. Can I ask what current court shoes you’d recommend. The ones in the video are discontinued. Thanks in advance.
I'm an Asics man, I found that putting in a decent inner sole makes them last much longer. Most runners say you need to replace trainers in 2 years even if hardly used but a decent replacement insole seems to make them like new again.
I've done everything from sprinting to Marathon distance and still do regular 10K & 10 milers.
What are your favorite shoes for running?
I use a puma with a flat sole its worked very good for me
Great advices, as usually. Just my 5 cents - I used to train the hard way, shadow boxing with a mouth piece, running in the boxing shoes, heavy bag conditioning with a partner destabilizing it to learn landing hard no matter what and land properly - to make it all close to the real thing, and to be used to the gear. What I realized down the years, that running in boxing shoes takes tall on your knees no matter how tough your ankles and achilles are, because running on a hard surface in boxing shoes with little to no cushioning they provide does harm your knees
+Dmitriy Solovyov thanks for sharing your experience, new boxers here will benefit
Yep. Made that mistake once also and it hurt my feet.
So that’s why I’m getting arch pain? I’ve been doing everything in boxing shoes
Great info JT, badminton shoes ok for jump rope as well?
What about jump roping? what shoe whould you recommend?
can you do a review of the new everlast PIVT shoe, they’re supposed to be a hybrid shoe, a shoe made for boxing and also for gym use, so you don’t have to keep changing shoes.
thanks coach .it doesnt matter what you wear but why you wear it .we must deserve to wear the boxing shoes say thanks to JT for helping us to do this and subscribe guys...............
Whats your opinion about those Ring Side diablo shoes are they one of the best? Btw great video
My gym uses astroturf for most of the flooring, which acts like sandpaper on shoe tread. Started out with Nike wrestling shoes and within a month I was sliding. Have done pretty well since with the Everlast Men's Elite, which is a hybrid shoe for boxing & conditioning. About to try out mixing in Adidas Samba indoor soccer shoe (designed for use on astroturf) - to save wear and tear on the Everlasts. Might be a lower cost option to some of the other indoor court shoes from the video?
Almost commited myself to a pair of boxing shoes. Running shoes gave me blisters on my big toe BC they put my weight afar forward. Just got the yonex aerius 3s. They feel grippy at the store, but so smooth in the ring.
I'have became Biggest Fan of you ...
Have u seen the Adidas Dame 5..? What u think about those? I think goes great for boxing
Ive got quite a flat foot, wide too. . And have suffered from planter fasciitis in the past. Whats ur recommendation.
Thanks very much
i like the thumbnail :D
So... Badminton shoes at the best option for in the gym, working the bags etc?
20 years! Damn! How many PHD's in boxing is that bro ?
6:50 for arch problems.
@Ole Carlos tf is wrong with you?
Hi JT, thanks lots for this - I just bought the Yonex badminton shoes and sparred with them today - game changer! I like them even more than my proper Nike boxing shoes which don't seem to have as much grip, although pivoting is easier in them. Thanks for the tip - lifted my game right away!
Where do you find them?
Hey Jason, Do you have any views on the Asics Gel Rocket 8 indoor courts ? After watching your video i'm guessing they'll be ok. I just went through a pair of v expensive Asics running shoes as all the lateral movement in boxing resulted in my little toe bursting through the mesh in about 3 months. Gotta get it right this time that was an expensive mistake. I'm training mainly on concrete in the garage. Thanks, Simon.
heel, side, grip, and front. fix make em power ful shoes
As a badminton player I didn't know the shoes can be use for sparring .
Saaaaame.
j
How do you feel about old school Chuck Taylor All Stars for training?
