    There is that 18th story of a guy who lives close to farm. Everyday he passed a meadow and one of the cows would always come running to him, he even knew her name at some point. One day he got some meet from the farmer, and the farmer told him ‘you know, it’s the cow that always came for you’, like he would enjoy it more then. He never ate another cow afterwards.

      Bro 🗿 Old Farmer McPetty really didn’t like mans touching his merchandise 😂 to think as an animal species on this vegetive rock floating in space. We can just look at an animal we have to coexist with and go “you know what. Nope. I own that thing now. That’s it. That’s mine” smh. The human race needs to do better or we’ll literally wipe ourselves out trying to wipe everything else out.

    He's done some very dishonest manipulation of the numbers. His numbers about "animals" are not terribly far off if you phrase it properly as "mammal biomass", but mass isn't the same as number and most animals aren't mammals. We raise a lot of large, heavy mammals (goats, sheep, pigs, cows, dogs, cats), but that's not anywhere near the majority of animals on the planet. Birds, fish, reptiles, insects are all animals. Consider that worms compromise more than double the biomass of livestock. Arthropods (mostly crabs) outweigh mammals 10 to 1. A little perspective and proper labels make this a lot less shocking. And if we're talking about boimass, all animal life on the planet is a tiny fraction of the biomass. Plants and fungi and bacteria each outweigh animals on earth by a lot.

    The forests and rainforest are not being torn down for hay for cows, us ranchers grow that ourselves, it's just not cost effective to ship hay from overseas, it's being torn down for coffee and soy. Look it up, easy to do the smallest amount of research to see through people's bs and find out the truth.

    • @internettoughguy
      @internettoughguy Před 28 dny

The rainforests aren’t being destroyed for the soy that’s used for tofu and soy milk because there isn’t nearly as much needed to feed humans directly than to first give it to a cow

    Great to see Gervais trying to educate people, because he 's listened by millions. I dont know if someday people will realize that a pig, a cow or whatever animal farm has similar pyschological capacities and is as sensitive as a dog or a cat and I don't know if they will care anyway but, at least, is good to know that seems that mainstream is hitting this ground. I started changing my mind almost 40, it's possible to learn, reeducate yourself and change for good. Its just a matter of not being egotistical enough to think you're always right.

    • @franekspeak953
      @franekspeak953 Před 26 dny +2

      Yeah, but will you have enough grass? What happens if you convert farmland or foresters to meadows just to feed cows? Ultimately, the fact that it is possible to produce beef sustainably doesn't prove that this economical or even possible on a large scale. The trouble is that with the recent doubling of the world population meat consumption almost quadrupled and this is a huge change that implies real issues when it comes to the responsible resources management.

    Feed them what? Oats? Rice? Bugs?
    They have to be eating something now or they would be dead, so what is the name of the extra food they now get to eat, and HOW does it reach them?
    HOW MANY people eat meat 5 days per week?
    And how many of them have to give up meat one day per week to feed that 100 million people?
    Numbers get bandied about. Nobody knows where they came from, how they were arrived at, or WHO (in what organization) did the math.
    Where did he get the starting numbers to begin the calculations?
    What were their assumptions? And why?
