    I LOVE the Folio Society. Their Ulysses will always be in my collection. Haven't bought from them in awhile, but I've never been disappointed.

    Such Mesmerizing work of all such artists in this video gives me the reason to breathe in today's world which puts forth a crazy demand for doctors, engineers, lawyers, MBAs , IT BPO crowd.
    Long live the Artists , Long live the Values of art kept preserved. Amen.

    I found out that Easton Press did a facsimile reprint of the originals, bound in leather. They are incredibly good looking but the prices are definitely beyond the average pocket. I may also recommend the B&N Leatherbound edition of "Fairy Tales From Around the World" which is a sort of "best of" from the rainbow series. It is a nice affordable edition with the original illustrations. I'm not sure whether it's still in print but it should be easy to find it in the second-hand market.

    I love your book reviews, I also just starting with Barnes and noble and bought my first folio book, Fahrenheit 451, presently waiting. It’s unfortunate shipping costs are so high.

      What do you suggest ! Should one go for " complete fairy tales of brothers Grimm by Barnes and noble" or " the annotated brothers Grimm by Maria Tatar" ??

    • @FoolishFishBooks
      @FoolishFishBooks  Před 4 lety +1

      I'd get both... Or should I say: I intend to get both 😁 I didn't know about the annotated edition when I got the B&N edition. Maybe I'd have gone with the annotated first if I had.

    • @sarmadrehman404
      @sarmadrehman404 Před 4 lety

      @@FoolishFishBooks although it only has 36 tales out of all yet the annotated version seems pretty and it's one beautiful book to have. Illustrations are from Goble, Rackham and I guess dulac...! I have the original brothers Grimm by Jack zipes though but lack of illustrations makes the reading boring especially when you are reading it to young ones .

    • @FoolishFishBooks
      @FoolishFishBooks  Před 4 lety +1

      @@sarmadrehman404 one thing I'll say is that the annotated illustrations are tiny. More of a suggestion to look up a larger version online, not so much an illustration per se, but the annotations do extend to the illustrations themselves.

      Yes, the Kawai CN37 which seemed to be just the right price-point before steep rises for little difference. It's mostly my wife who plays, but I enjoy a little finger-stretch when the flat is empty😅

    Hello, I am an arabic translator who grew up reading English literature and am currently working on translating all the fairy books into arabic, its really a piece of art, im just not sure if it is in the public domain? also do you know where I can find public domain art for these books?

    • @FoolishFishBooks
      @FoolishFishBooks  Před 2 lety

      The Andrew Lang books are in the public domain. No issue there. Public domain artists who illustrated these tales include Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen and Harry Clarke. I believe Jacob Grimm also illustrated many of his own tales. But a quick Google search should give you more than this. 👍

    You might appreciate standardebooks.org, they release U.S. public domain books but go over to improve the typography and give them new covers using public domain art works. Be sure to check to see whether they're in the public domain in jurisdiction before downloading.

    I watched this earlier today and I had already looked at these before but didn't get any. Yesterday I looked for the Penny Dreadful we talked about before to go with my Lewis Carroll from Barnes and nobles but they don't print it anymore. ( I'll find it somewhere) Anyway I just bought this blue fairy book off Esty like 20 mins ago. Barnes and nobles printed it so what I saw in the photos the cover is a little different than yours.

      Great news about the B&N Blue book. Let me know what you think of it if you get a chance. I would have got it if there were any indication that further books in the series might be published, but no news on that front for the past 2 years at least.
      So sorry to hear about Penny Dreaduls being out of print. Here's an option: www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?cm_sp=SearchF-_-topnav-_-Results&kn=1435162765&sts=t

      It's such a shame that B&N only ever put out the blue book, and never followed up with any other.
