    I really appreciate your straight forward presentation. When I watch a video I want to know everything about the rifle or gun. You covered it well and what I really like is that you did not throw a bunch of subjective conversation into the presentation letting us to find out for ourselves what we might not like of about a model. So often I find many of the video’s go out of there way to be nit-picky. As a consumer that is my job and if I came to buy a gun or rifle or shotgun from you, I would NOT have my preconceived negativity toward on product or another. Thank You. nicely done

    I bought one of these in 2003 when Field and Stream gave it gun of the year award. 3 of us had them in the duck blind. I remember 2 of the 3 started to fail. The guns would not fire because the firing pin was getting so dirty. If you clean it well, will run perfectly. By comparison my 870 had never failed in 25 years in the field. The Nova is a fine gun and I still use it. Just remember to clean it often and don’t forget the pin.

    Well, what a great review, and analysis! I got a Super Nova, my first 12 GA with the pistol grip some 4 mos ago, just managed to go shoot it yesterday! WOW! It Is A Cannon! Been shooting AR-15, 15 22, and 9mm, Wow! SO glad I got it! Talk about powerful! Because the indoor range I use only allows slugs, I had 2-3/4” Winchester Defender($2 ea.), segmented rifled slugs, 1600 fps as first round! WHOA! What a blast, and kick in the shoulder! OMG I’m hooked. Only shot 5, just wanted to test! Looking forward to trying lower priced shot shells at outdoor range. Thanks for your excellent review.🇺🇸

      Either are a good choice, simply put. I favor the latter for more than one reason. BUT Benelli quality ranges from good to excellent. Part of the question is----how much are you willing to pay? Even Benelli shotguns can be found in the 400-600 range. But I'm pretty sold on Mossberg---I own more than one, and even a Maverick I'd trust my life with that power. Still, Benelli's action on their firearms is no joke. I may even get one down the road myself, who knows. But I haven't heard many complaints about Benelli---if you have the cash to spend, it may be up your alley.

    One additional bit of spec. The Super Nova tactical with the traditional shaped butt stock includes the ComforTech recoil reduction system while the pistol grip Super Nova does not. I have never fired a Benelli with the recoil reduction system but I have heard that while the 48% reduction in felt recoil might be a bit of exaggeration, it does ease some of the 12 gauge kick in these guns. I assume that including the sling mounts on the pistol grip prohibits the use of the recoil reduction system on that option.

    Awesome review and just what I needed to know about my recent purchase of the exact Super Nova. The question I have Allen is what brand of shell storage you have on the stock which seems to just go over around the stock? I do not want to glue anything on the parts of the gun and the rail system storage is nice but kind of pricey for these, plus you loose factory sight. Anyone that has a good suggestion is welcome to reply. I want to be able to carry at least another 5 or so rounds.

  • @John_Redcorn_
    @John_Redcorn_ Před 2 lety +1

    Picked up a 590 recently. Its my first Mossberg, as I’ve always been a Remington (for pump action) guy. Just doesnt suit my fancy. Little things here and there leave me wanting. The fore end being so far out like was mentioned feels awkward and so does the tang safety. Its very rattley and i’ve already had issues with the shell stop not releasing shells from the tube reliably (replaced it for $18. Not bad, but still…).
    I own a Benelli semi-auto and its awesome. I’m debating whether to get a SuperNova or just get the old tried-and-true 870 in a tactical version. Looks like both will be about the same price.

  • @TaeussKramme

    Very informative but you forgot one of the chief differences between the Nova and Super Nova shotguns: the Super has an effective recoil management system located in the stock that actually works well! I got a Super Nova Tactical as my first shotgun a few years back. Love the reliability and smoothness of the action, but I have to say, if you're under 6'6' and your knuckles don't skim the ground when you walk, you might find the length-of-pull on the pistol grip stock to be a bit much. Fortunately, the Mesa Tactical pistol grip stock for the Benelli is available as a viable option, and the shorter length of pull sure made a difference for me. It's a much more controllable gun now.

    Nice review. Just picked up a nova today as my first shotgun. Watched several videos and it’s a very easy gun to disassemble for maintenance. But I didn’t see anything taking about the button on the pump arm. Was wondering what that was. Didn’t see anything in the book. So that helps to remove the round in the chamber with out trying to send up another. Does it pull back the round for easier removal or do you still have to get in and pick at the round and pull it out?

    • @John_Redcorn_
      @John_Redcorn_ Před 2 lety

      It will eject the round in the chamber just like normal. It just keep another round from being fed from the mag tube. Its meant to clear the gun and make safe without having to empty the tube. Also used if you want to single-load a different shell type than whats in the mag.

      Yes they are, however the Super Nova and defensive model Nova have chrome lined cylinder bore barrels for defensive use. Rifled Slugs in these models will work well for hunting ( to about 75 yards) and buck shot for short range hunting at around 30 yards or so.
      You can get 24", 28" and 30" barrels that will interchange with the defensive Nova models.

    Had one. Sold it. Trigger was the worst mess of mush, creep, and stack I've ever known. Yeah I know it's a shotgun. Also racking slide just sounded like a whole lot of plastic. I feel like Benelli could have done much better since they project such a premium brand image.

      My Super Nova tactical has a very short break and crisp. Nowhere what you described.

      @@mykesinger Maybe they've improved them since the model I had.
