I don't suppose there will be a gen 2 of the EP 5-25 optic anytime soon, to your knowledge?
It's good to see Arken still pushing the limits.
It'll be interesting to see if the glass can go all the way up to 35x without the quality dropping off. A lot of the current 5-30x scopes (not necessarily Arken) get to about 20x and then everything starts to go tits-up.
I will say there are some stuff that I don't like about my EP5 (occasional reticle washout...is all). But I will give Arken props when they say their scopes track, which impresses me more than anything.
With that scope, they just nailed IOR, NightForce and S&B.
Next step for Arken will probably be a 2k $ optic that will toast March, Zero Compromise and Tangent Theta!
Can wait to see that happens!

For Tibor Pumper: Hungarian Green Carder for 40 years. Minot.
Long range rifles. Beyond one full 360 degree turn scopes can be overwhelming. At long range one runs out of marked adjustment. The secret is like a set of golf clubs for different Ranges. A standard to 600. Then a zeroed rifle or scope at 800, 1000, 1200. (Some scope ring and rails allow switching of scopes without removing appreciable zero) Then all bullet drop stays within rotation. ( Accurate factory bolt actions with 1 " capability at Wal Mart for $400. But one for each range!) The Old military bolts had marked sights even out to 2000 yards for " Volley" fire by ten man sections. Area fire versus a hunters target. Great sausage! Thus long range rifles can be zeroed and a specialty weapon for different hunting ranges.
Just ordered one of these. 6-8 weeks out. This will be my 5th optic from Arken. They are a little chawnky, but I couldn't be happier with the specs and quality given the price point.

Been watchin this fella for a good part of 15 years, since I learned how to shoot I'd watch/listen to his 101 series or his music when Id get home and clean my rifles

Nice review for not actually having yet. I’ve had an EP5 for PRS for a few month and getting ready to run it hard for the rest of the summer. It’s still hard to believe the price vs quality. You hit it on the head with people not coping with the fact it’s not expensive… “it can’t be any good”. Lol. My only thing is I’d like to see the reticle have .10th hash marks instead of just .5.
I shoot PRS and NRL and I have the same issue. They need to come out with at least a .2 MIL reticle

Just to pass this info along, ALLNOPTICS endure some form of shipping, some brands more removing and shipping than others. A typical box of 20 scopes is packed in rows. Almost 100% of all damaged scopes of ALL brands, we're packed on the bottom row. The big shippers have multi level employee contracts, certain contracts restrict employees from exceeding certain individual weight limits, thus I have personally witnessed boxes flying off conveyors hitting the floor hard ruining the entire bottom row. For yrs I drove to California from Texas every 2 weeks to private transport my product.
Thanks Rex for the code. I love the Arken brand. A lil concerned about the weight doing free standing but that would not be a no go. If I close my eyes listening, I can visualize and hear the Sniper 101 guy. Thats where I first found you. Thanks for all the cool years. God bless.

@@trevorhawkins8757 if that is the case, I hope the new one doesn't have the same tint and vignetting. My Athlon Cronus has Japanese glass and is way clearer/brighter edge to edge than my Gen 1 EP5. Of course that is a $2000 scope vs a $500 one.
@@RecreationalSniper yep! I’m sure you know but there’s different levels to it all. Just because they say Japanese ED glass doesn’t mean it’s the same quality or same coatings as another scope with Japanese glass that costs 2-3k.

You got me hooked on chasing high quality glass over high magnification 12 years ago with a Steiner 3X12 that I still have on my Ruger precision rifle 6.5 Creedmoor and sometimes use on my SCAR-17 to great effect. I use a Steiner 1X4 on M4's, Tavor and love Trijicon RMR too, they all have clear glass that makes shooting a pleasure. I didn't need much persuasion to buy German glass, love the stuff, but since then, it seems some cheaper scopes have improved their glass to such high levels, even a glass snob like myself canennjoy using. I love listening to you and your reviews because you think like I think, never a question of integrity but work in a sense of humor and great music when possible to keep the world spinning. Take care and keep these great videos coming, never stop.

Oh of course !!! The one, and ONLY thing that stopped me from buying an Arken, was they didn't have a scope in this focal range !! So yesterday ..... *YESTERDAY* ...... I relented and bought a new Athlon Argos BTR Gen 2 8-34x56. Figures ! Just my luck ! That being said, it would definitely take some time before we'll see any of these new Arkens up here in Canada ! So .... off to the range to sight in my new Athlon !
I agree with you Rex. Most shooters don't even know how to use their equipment to the fullest or even get the full functionality from their equipment to begin with and those are the ones who advocate for 3k plus scopes. Good shooters and true proscan use anything and be successful within reason.

Beginner tip: put a small stip of alluminum foil tape used in A/C duct work before you drop it in the grass. You can literally find it and many other small tools without even searching for it. Your welcome.
I use electrical tape . Stick it don't loose it
Buy a set of Whia or Wera Allen drivers and keep some spare screws
I just ordered two of those 35x Arken scopes to replace the two aging 25 years old Nightforce 42x NSX scopes on my BLASER 338 LAPUA R93 LRS and a 260REM ARMALITE AR10T.
Love my Arkens. Built like a tank. Vortex never impressed me. Their zero stop is a joke. Can't see spending big $$ for a scope when you can get better for less. Thanks for the info

PRS , " What the Pros use" (look it up) the 2024 up date: the Leupold Mark 5, it doing well, very well- at a price of about $2k against the Night Force, and Tanget Theta, Kahles, and Vortex all above $3k. This is in competitive shooting. I own and shoot a Night force Bench Rest with a 308 at $1,700 And a Vortex Gen 2 for a 6.5 Creedmoor at $3,700. Best bang for the buck for "general" shooting, depending on your intentions, is SWFA or Bushnell.
The SWFA scope can be had for $300. Even in 2924! It has a great reputation for many good reasons. My SWFA SS which I gave to my nephew is 20 by 42 . My Bushnell Tactical Elite is what I would call entry level for long distance competition -- it runs at $1,700

Im still jonesin on my gen1 ep5. I might get a epl4 4-16 tho. I love that magnification range with a simple mil reticle. Wish it was 10 mils per rotation tho.
It's not necessarily the 7-35 I am looking for, it is the Japanese ED glass that I want in the EP 5.

I love S&B. Such clear glass. If Taken can hold up they'll give Leopold & Vortex a run & I will happily switch my leupies and vortex over. Still not a good f class unless they can move to 1/8 moa as that's the standard
If anyone thinks the christmas tree on the reticle is inacurrate you need to practice. And if you know some one that understands it buy a six pack and let him teach you. If you dont get it before the six pack is gone you need to practice when sobber.

Who do they buy their glass from? There are only five or six manufacturers of magnification glass

Need to deal with that ultra fine retical, FFP should be able to deal with that? I've just bought a Falcon Optics T50i, much better scope all round, made in Japan, decent glass, good price (£400)

Is Arken really using glass and of high enough quality and the build precision to make 35 power usable? Is so, I'm in.
If you shorten the optic, you'll have to add more (in number) and/or more "aggressive" lenses, which increases aberrations, you lose clarity, etc.
Like my arken EP-8.

The big question Rex, when are you getting one for review, I bought the 5 25x56 Ep5 mil/mil after your comprehensive review and comparisons. The only probably I had was I lost the reticle diode cover on one of my deer outings, had to tape it up since October last year and only got a replacemet cap (free of charge) 7 months later and only through a UK optics distributor, talk about a pain in the ass waiting for it but eventually got it.... Apart from that I'm a big fan....

I wonder if they are sending u hand picked scopes. The very first scope that they dropped was very clean but the rettical had issues. The last few EP5 scopes have been hard to use. The eye box seemed tiny, and the glass just wasn't crisp. I want to like them bc of the price. Maybe I am just getting bad ones.

Would li,e to know exit pupil size as that gives an idea of eyebox performance.
Exit pupil is the objective diameter divided by the magnification. On low power, 56mm/7x is 8mm exit pupil. On high power,56mm/35 is 1.6mm exit pupil.

Arken is a great rimfire scope, but there is a reason they don't podium at comps.

Why is there no 1-25 or 1-35? Is it not possible? I’m new to scopes so I didn’t know if that would be possible. To me that would be awesome to cover everything with one scope.
