swimming tips from a D1 swimmer: focus on hand entry and extending your arm out in front about 2 inches below the surface and keep your elbow high in the catch. hold a steady kick throughout the race and focus on rotating through your hips from your core. also for the 500 consider uni-lateral breathing. it helps slow and maintain a lower heart rate, less fatigue to the muscles with more oxygen to the blood. learning a correct “open turn” will save a couple seconds in itself. touch with both hands and then drive one arm back with elbow bent at 90* under the water like you’re trying to elbow someone behind you while bringing the top arm up in a bent 90* out of the water and throwing your arm being your ear like your putting your cell phone up to your ear to call someone... “elbow your brother, call your mother” technique. with this focus on getting your knees tucked up underneath you to your chest as quick as possibly by engaging the core. then push off in streamline and rotate to your side and then your stomach. i’ve been following you for a little while now though and thoroughly impressed with your technique and how much it has improved it such little time!!! you’re so inspiring keep it up!
I burned 1,000 calories just watching the first 6 minutes of this.

lol
yeah, i always eating when i'm watching youtube and today i felt uncomfortable watching him suffer on the bike while i was eating my pancakes ....
My average heart rate was over 200 within 20 minutes..
The production of this series is just insane
Like from 9:22 when he talks about swimming! That background music! Like when you watching a documentary on Netflix. I find it really motivating!
@@davidbodis9482 its a split-screen with copyright free music. relax mate
Marcel lol, read it again
@@davidbodis9482 I think he’s just saying that it’s not impressive
It is very very good!
I like how his coach is laughing and smiling when they did the test. She knows exactly what Nick is going through and knows Nick is getting better and better.
I leave for army basic training January 4th and you have been one of my role models for a while now! Keep up the great work!
Good luck half riiiiiiiii
Salute 💯
Good Luck man. Keep your eye on the prize!
What mos are you. I’m currently in infantry OUST and graduated Jan 29
Bro best of luck. Bootcamp in my opinion is all about your attitude; be respectful, follow commands, pay attention, Learn, make friends, get disciplined, and have fun. I was in the Medical Field ARMY (91G) x 8 y.
BPN editing team has been next level with this series!
Nick’s inspiration: “Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.”
So true lol

i love his coach. you can tell it means something to her.
Loving this training mentality. This is a perfect way to see what happens when you keep pushing through
I loved the 500 yard swim, 'failure' is such an important part of the process! Got to turn it into a positive and learn everything you can from it
"Opportunity to see what you're made of right now" I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!
Such an inspiring series. I can't get enough of it! Love the relationship between you and your coach, it's awesome. Love seeing here wear the BPN hat, shows support on a whole new level!
Love the energy in the comments! I bought Hoka running shoes, Nick's supplements and am now training for my first marathon. GO ONE MORE everyone!
I love the growth. I can’t believe how much you have grown since leaving acting duty. It’s awesome to support a fellow veteran and even better you guys make awesome products! Still loving that treadmill I won last year. Thank you again BPN team.
Loving this season! Great to see you become a student and not just the master constantly
I love the fact that all of his staff are well-built. Very much inspiring.
I get so much inspiration from Nick. I am not doing an Ironman, but when I am in pilates or barre I think... Nick would keep going, so I do. Thank you Nick!
You inspire me so much to push my limits. I’ve always been an athlete, but you’ve been able to make me push my limits.. Literally went into a trance on the treadmill while watching your videos.
Congrats!! Been following for years, loving the series! Keep crushing it
The bike section reminded me of Rocky Vs Drago training... Keep up the good work huge inspiration!
I'm 17 and I am starting to go to the gym. Nick is the freakin OG. This guy is a beast. Nick, you are an inspiration for me man. Keep it going man
I’m also 17. What workout plan do you use?
@@grovesbroslegostudio3077 I am really trying to create one. Rn,I'm doing upper, full-body, lower. So 3 times a week. For my upper workout, isolated bicep curls, barbell curls 3x8 for both. OH tricep extensions 3x6, lateral raises 3x8, bench press 3x3(heavyweight)
I love these Black Friday videos! I still remember the first one when Poppa Bare used to fly.
Another absolutely sick video. I’m so extremely glad to be part of the BPN team. Hopefully as an athlete one day
Videos keep getting better! I’ve always said sound makes a video! These are awesome
I have a suggestion for your breathing on your swimming. I would try 3 strokes per breath. When I was training to be a rescue swimmer in the Navy I was doing 1 stroke per breath, former rescue swimmers and Navy Seals recommend 3 strokes per breath. I felt the difference immediately. It was uncomfortable at first but it got easier over time. I would do 1 mile or even 1 1/2 mile swims sometimes and I wouldn’t feel too fatigued and my form was consistent throughout the swims. I don’t know how 3 strokes per breath would affect your Iron Man performance since I haven’t done one, but I would recommend talking to your coach about your breathing. Love the content keep it up the amazing work BPN! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you BPN team for the videos. The energy is addicting and motivational. Nick, your dedication to what you believe in is admirable. Keep up the good work!
Forever Customer,

Love the new series. My Black Friday order arrives today!
Can confirm that this is a great vid to watch while working out.
This man is an inspiration to so many. When I feel unmotivated I come to this channel.
Hey man, you are a great inspiration, every weekend I wait for your video. Your videos motivate me to disciplined and consistent in my workouts. Respect and Love from India 🇮🇳
Finally you have told us you are going for sub 10🤩🙌🏻.. I was waiting for you to tell which time you were aiming for.. You can do it🙌🏻💪🏻.. GO ONE MORE🤙🏻💜
This series is of such great quality. One would think that this was made for television (let's up that: NETFLIX!). Good luck in your journey Nick. We can tell that you're putting complete effort into your goals, and that is something positive and refreshing to see in the midst of such a tremulous year. Go one more!
Love love your videos! Way better than anything on Netflix! 💪 You inspire me.
When you think you train hard, then watch @NickBare... makes you realise "yeah you need to step up your shit!"
Thanks Nick!!! 👊 Great motivation for while I'm on prep for my first mens physique competition next year!💪
Damn nick, you’re my new favorite role model to follow! Thanks for the inspiration.
Natasha representing South Africa ❤️🔥
Production level has been crazy lately! These videos are killer!
Freaking awesome. Congrats to you and the BPN team. Wish you and Nat can come up with a training plan as in depth as yours for aspiring Tri athletes.
Nick make sure you adjust your wahoo kickr’s wheel size...you have it on the default setting...the kickr won’t be level if you don’t adjust it accordingly.
@Natasha Van Der Merwe can we have him on strava please?
@@gaiusvelleius yea his strava would be great!
@@gaiusvelleius he said on Instagram I believe that he has a strava account but keeps it private
I love this series. I couldn't be more proud to be a member of Team BPN
Ran a1/2 marathon this morning and now watching this 🙌🏼 winning
Cool, what was the time?
Mad props to your work ethic. Enjoy following. One word of caution and it makes me think of your sub 3hr marathon you thought you were gonna run. You don’t pick a number. Your training feedback will pick it for you. You get worked up over a certain number instead of just focusing on improvement over time. Sub 10 will come but you don’t just hop in your 2nd IM and say sub 10. You gotta earn your stripes first. just my .02
Good luck and I hope you get it
Nick is a beast!! This is insane! Great vid
Congrats man... seeing this gives me goosebumps
Nick you very inspiring actually inspired me to get off my butt and start training, all I wanted to do was join the army well now I'm in the army actually im at ait rn so thank you nick for the inspiration.
Thank you for your service sir!

What a video Nick. Love your training, love your ethos and work ethic. Go one more 🤙
The pain cave is real. Very real. I achieved an FTP of my PB of 240W during last weeks ramp test. I make the same grunts when trying to hold that last ramp for 60 seconds. Nice work @nick
Pain is weakness leaving the body brother ✌️
Cardio doesn’t care who you are eventually if you push it far enough it will push back! I love seeing the suffering... suffering=growth
The introduction had me cheesing hard, especially the champagne shot. Stoked to see how far BPN has come and will continue to go.
Thank you Nick and Coach Natasha~ I can’t wait to do an Ironman soon one day ♥️🤟🏽
6:15 I was totally waiting for coach to say “break the fucking switch” and Nick to go to another mental level 🤣👍 good shit brother. Inspiring AF
Big moves. Absolutely insane you’re training and commitment
Respect the grind 😤
I enjoy watching Nike channel but can I also say he reminds me of David Goggins- ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete etc. They both have a focus and dedication which I admin, both helping me to keep focus on my own personal goals. 👏🏽
You inspire me so much!
I bought 20 pounds of BPN protein powder on Black Friday. Honestly it is one of the best protein powders I’ve had.
I got the fruity cereal and first time on flight and endo (any preworkout for that matter). Loving it!
Nick is a beast!! Keep it up 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Can’t wait to receive my Black Friday stuff! 🤙🏼🔥
Same here!
FTP tests create new levels of pain, I dread them. Nice work, your FTP is getting good!
EMBRACE THE SUCK... Thanks Nick, for going one more and being an inspiration.
FTP testing should be done in the aero bars on tri/TT bikes, not sitting up like a road bike, since you plan to be in the aero position as long as possible
I 💯 agree with this. But still great job Nick.
Been a BPN customer since 2014. I got my Black Friday order the following Tuesday. Y’all are amazing
Random comment but: Do you get asked if your family is related to US president a lot?
@@Morfeusm we are related actually.
Wow Nick great job!
It's 11:30pm.. laying in bed.. and I forgot to bring the garbage out. After watching Nick do his thing I was so motivated that I got up and brought them down my long driveway in the cold.. Yes!
When are we going to see Coach Greg vs Nick Bare head to head bike race??
YES!!!
You won't. Greg said he wasn't natty so Nick probably hates him...
I love your videos!! Go One More!!
Merry Christmas!! 🇺🇸🎅🏻🎄
U are my inspiration ❤️
Nick ! You are a incredible athlete!
I think relaxing your breathing for swimming for as long as possible will make you less tired. Exhaling deep breaths and not inhaling too sharp. It’s weird getting used to the feeling of drowning especially for a first time swimmer
Props to the editing team!
And thank you for your motivating videos.
Nick your doing great on the bike! Work on keeping your upper body still. All the rocking back and forth wastes a lot of energy on the bike. The rocking back and forth can lead to a low back injury, ask me how I know. Peace
New customer to BPN. Found you through this CZcams channel of course. I've been vegan for the last 3 years so I'm looking for different vegan options. I'm happy to see that you are shortly coming out with a new vanilla flavor as I'm pretty basic when it come to protein powders. Don't overpower the vanilla flavor, please! I saw in your video that you said it was a very mild flavor which will be amazing.
You can’t be too upset with an 8:21 500yd swim! Very respectable.
From one swimmer to you now, Elbow your brother and call your mother!!!! Also, you might want to switch to a 3/4 breath pattern for your 100 yard sprint, you lose dynamics taking breaths. Dude you are an inspiration, keep it up!
I can't even imagine doing anything except sleeping for 10 hrs.
I just love love love the fact that he's coached by a women and she's amazing !!
Shut up
I personally don’t like Heart rate training, it can be aggravating/exhausting because of so many factors. More so I like training off how my body feels. kudos to your hard work, I know it will payoff brother. Excited to see how you can do at your marathon and your Ironman!
Our endorcine sytem and CNS/ANS does not discriminate efforts above aerobic threshold/LT1/VT1... Sweet Spot is good to build muscular endurance / bike spesific strength endurance, especially with low cadence, but for stressors... not much different than doing short intervals very high effort at vot2max... Just a little facts check :)
This is best to be an award winning series
Hey Jasmine @ Bicycle World. She’s a friend of mine. Great episode Nick. I can’t wait to race with you at IMTX.
Champ thanks a lot for fasted shipping on my supplements the best ever💪💪
Good job 🤝🏼
Bought some preflight going fo try it today!!!
The way the coach talks to Nick while he's pushing his limits is what I need for someone to tell me to just get out of bed and go to work
What a great energy woof
Yes! The Post Malone "Congratulations" montage with champagne returned!
New Intra flight customer. So far its working really well.
You can tell your coach really loves suffering and that’s the best coach you can have.
awesome!
I know this is late, but congrats on an awesome Black Friday sale 2020!

I wanted to buy all my protein and preworkout from BPN but my cart wouldn’t load on Black Friday. 😕
Excellent my dear friend
QUESTION::::::::
Hi Nick been following you for a few weeks now and want to thank you for helping me find that same drive in my fitness again !
In one of your videos you mentioned about running “smart” and training at 150bpm. Any tips on how I can achieve training in that interval? I’m 32 years old, 6ft 200lbs and have always more of a sprinter my whole life running on my toes so to speak. I usually find a good cadence to my running but when I check my heart rate it’s 160-170. It feels like I need to slow down to like a 5mph jog just to achieve staying under 150bpm and it’s not fun running that slow. Also I never feel out of breath when I’m at 160-170.I know there can be a ton of factors, but hoping I can train smart for long distance. Appreciate the content and anyone else willing to chime in, greatly appreciated.
Just got back from my 15 mile run and get to come back to this video nice 😎
That’s some good mileage, congrats! How much you run per week? 45 plus miles?
@@Morfeusm negative I only run once a week because I put my main focus on bodybuilding. Just hit a nice long run on sundays to keep a base for when I want to shift to more running focused.
@@jonathan2nice Interesting. Keep it up! You actually gave me inception to an idea, thanks!
@@Morfeusm likewise thanks
