Was hiking to Lake Williams over New Years and out of the corner of my eye some backwoods skier flys by me like a ghost. His dog was following him which made it even cooler.
Ive done em time and time again, Taos has always been my favorite, so many great runs and great memories, Ernie Blake was a true visionary, well done sir, well done.
Theyvare definitely fall zones and you have no idea what a no fall zone is lol. Most resorts don’t have no fall zones and it’s mostly people who ski in the backcountry
Taos Ski Valley is and probably always will be my favorite mountain, and I've skied lots of resorts in many states, as well as in Europe. The snow is incredibly light and fluffy, only slightly topped by Utah's snow in the Cottonwood Canyons! Both sides of the ridge are magical, from Tresckow to Meatball to Zdarsky, some of my favorite ridge runs, to name a few. It's just the right kind of resort for serious skiers looking for easily accessible extreme terrain, and Taos has plenty of it to explore!
Freaking love it. Until really ski something that step. You don't give steep chutes the credit they deserve. Taos Chutes are definitely no fall type of skiing. I dig it!!!!
I skied at Taos for one day many decades ago. I remember one super long, very steep, very narrow mogul run under a chair.. Can't remember the run name? That place has some intense steep runs. But it was still spring skiing paradise there.
Could have been Reforma, Blitz, or Blitz into Winston if it was near the top of the mountain, or Al's Run if it ended at the bottom. Al's run is insanely long, and always has nice big moguls on it. My favorite part of Al's is a little more than halfway down, where Lower Inferno branches out. They have a sign saying that a black diamond called Lower Inferno is the "easiest" route down 😊
@@CurriedBat Plowing on a ski vs a snowboard makes no difference...If you can explain to me how it would be more ruined by a snowboarder who rode it the same was please do. Thats such an over said BS line that boarders wreck the snow..Nonsense
My man!! You’ve got brass balls, steel knees and a watermelon head to be tackling this type of terrain. Much respect!! 🫡
Jack you got skills to even attempt those runs but need to point camera up a bit next run :)

I've seen this happen a couple times on the Williams Lake trail and Wheeler Peak trail. It's super impressive and a lot of fun to see!

I went there for my 50th birthday with my family. I had never been in the Rockies. We cross country skied at 11,000 feet, was amazing place to be.
I love going down the ridge everyone I tell that I've gone on the ridge don't believe just because I'm 9 but I pretty skilled for my age
This looks exhausting!
Good skills mate! Serious amount of pow at the top there. Looked v fun!

When the weather and skis change mid run
The chutes on West Basin make me pucker.

That was awesome man.
Screw these guys talking shit. Not everyone is Glen Plake. Song is great by the way. Keep working on your skills 💪
I’ve skied these mountains in Taos and this is phenomenal it doesn’t look that hard on video but I guarantee you in person you might shit yourself
That's some nice skiing. Steep AF.

Was it Reforma or Blitz? They're pretty gnarly.

You definitely need some ptex after that run!
those core shots were making me wince every time he went over the rocks.
Love Taos fr ❤️
more surving than skiing ski tuners delight
Extreme, bro!
More like shoveling!
Ive skied these runs at the top where you hike. Be ready for it... I love it but steeps are not for everyone.
Good morning
Nice skiing. But please fire your editor. I like to see the runs as they happen non-stop, not jumping between runs at random.
The crazy thing is that this is not really even the hard stuff at Taos...This is the lower out of bounds...He wussed and did not hike to Kachina Peak.
West basin ridge has the steepest and most technical terrain at Taos, steeper than kachina peak.
@@johnnyallen2654 So, He still wussed out and did not hike the peak... Haha :D
Jesus…😮😮
Katrina or highline
This is West Basin.
I know
If you think Taos is challenging don't go to Squaw Valley California!
What part of that was a “run” , at best it was fast path to the ER 😂😂😂
Your mad caus he’s betters
You are the reason there is no snow left on the good lines. You “skied” every shoot sideways and pushed out all of the soft snow.
I’m with Ian on this one. Stick to the groomers homie lmao
get there sooner douchebag
First come first served
Yeah keep up ladies. At least it's not a snowboard.
