Mecha Sonic used to scare me as well, as I was about 8 when SMBZ came out, but what's strange about me is that I turned that fear into a weird admiration for villains. It was the same for Slade from Teen Titans for me. Like they both scared me when I was little, but I also absolutely loved seeing them on screen and kicking the heroes around.
To be honest, that's probably how I felt when watching SMBZ. Towards the later episodes like episode 7 I didn't want him to get destroyed, but at the same time I was probably hiding behind my chair.

I was terrified of Tails doll.
Everynight, when i was younger. Anytime i wake up. I hear "Can you feel the sunshine?" And sometimes hallucinate and see the tails doll, standing in the doorway.

A short fear I had when I was really young was with the Tails Doll. I can't remember where I found out about him for the first time but I all I know is that I was scared of him and thought he was cool at the same time. When I found out he was in Sonic R, I immediately wanted the game but I didn't have a Saturn while not knowing it was ported on the Sonic Gems Collection for the Gamecube/ PS2 which I eventually bought along with a Gamecube ( Not knowing Gamecube games could be played on a Nintendo Wii which I had while I wanted Sonic R ) I always wondered what would happen if I did the infamous Tails Doll Curse where you play Can You Feel The Sunshine backwards in a bathroom and then have a red glow appear in the mirror. The thought always scared me half to death whenever I thought about it and years later I still feel uncomfortable thinking about how creepy it is. Eventually I got Sonic R for Christmas as a gift last year and I was extremely delighted to play the game and today I still really enjoy playing the game despite only having 5 tracks. Anyway, things got better when I got a large custom made Tails Doll plush which was on Etsy. It stares into my soul everytime I glance at my shelf of Sonic Merch. I even often wonder if the damn thing is possessed. Needless to say, Tails Doll did a great job of scaring me in my youth.
Tails Doll used to freak me out to! I made my own Tails Doll plush, but one day I was home alone and my PS2 controller broke while playing Sonic R. I was playing as Tails Doll at the time, and I couldn't even quit the level when pausing. So I used to hide from the Tails Doll plush I made, but now he still sits in my room.

I've already commented about my unease that was spawned by sonic.exe but the tails doll never really got to me at age 7 but now I understand how people see it as scary. Definintley a disturbing character
Three years took me to forget about my Tails Doll fear when I was a kid. I had a masochist liking about Sonic creepypastas, specially Tails Doll. Even though I feared it, I liked to play Sonic R because of it. In my two first playthroughs I completely avoided unlocking Tails Doll, because I was terrified of it. Every time I saw a red light in the darkness, I would shake and start to sweat. I will never forget my fear... It wasn't until I got older that I was fearing a badly written creepypasta about a Sonic character with no background whatsoever and only appeared in a failed Sonic racing game. Fears are weird... Specially when we're young.
Don't even get me started about that Sonic.exe nightmare I had... It was the first and last time I had sleep paralysis. Pretty freaky stuff.

even now i can really see why i love the design so much. theres something about those bulbous features, the hanging limbs, the black circles for eyes, and it all works even better when it's low-poly, in my opinion.
i never even played sonic r. i still never have. but its soundtrack, despite freaking me out a little as a kid, is still pretty bangin to this day

I'm a year late but fun fact: Mark (Creator of SMBZ) wanted to put Metallix from the reboot in the original series, he just couldn't make a new design for Metal Sonic (Since it was 2008) so he just went for Mecha Sonic from Sonic 3 instead, he put his original design into the reboot.
Who would win? Metallix or 2003 General Greivous?
Metallix. He's faster, has stronger armor, more weapons, and can fly. But Grievous would put up a fight.
Yeah I remember he did used a similsr sprite of Mechallix (the one with megaman body) in the SMBZ Opening intro animation, so instead of transforming into his super form he turned into that megaman looking sprite but with the same mecha sonic head
@@rickyrackey7930 If you're talking about a better Villain, 2003 grievous, I am biased as I am a star wars nerd but man he gave me chills, his theme, and everything. Mecha Sonic and Metallix never scared me but amazed me at how skilled they were, Grievous made me shit myself... But nowadays I love 2003 grievous as he is so badass.

Wen i was 10 i was terrified of metroid prime, because it was my fist fps. It did not help that it was my first in the series, and the monster and atmosphere just amplified it.
The Metroid Prime games are pretty terrifying, but I was lucky to play them when I was a teenager (my first game was the original Metroid II for Gameboy). The only thing that freaked me out was Dark Samus' theme music in 2 and 3 because that's the same music used for Mecha Sonic in SMBZ
And then i got metroid ohter M ..... you can guess that after this confusing mess i didn’t buy any other metroid games since then

My imagination has gotten the best of me. I can't help but imagine your friend taking random pictures of random environments and adding Mecha Sonic in the background and sending it to you, maybe adding images of Mecha Sonic to everyone in your contact list when you leave your phone unattended around a friend.
If it makes you feel better I've gained a sense of dark humor over the years.
i imagine someone that never played sonic & knuckles but watched the smbz series playing it for the first and getting absolutely horrified when they meet mecha sonic.
the Stockholm syndrome thing makes sense, and I resonate with it at some level. when I was younger, I saw the shadow people movie for the first time. it wasn't scary but the lore and atmosphere filled me with such profound dread that I couldn't sleep at all. it took me several days to come up with a way to sort of bypass this fear: become a shadow person. my thought process was "if I become one of them, they cant hurt me. they don't hurt their own." even if it made no logical sense, it sort of worked so I would imagine becoming a shadow person to the point of believing it to be true... the therapy that followed was awkward. but since then I've always had a fascination with shadows and darkness or ghosts, wraiths and other ethereal beings in the dark.
Y’know..... I get it. Mecha Sonic is kinda creepy and I sort of had the same feeling when I first watched that series sometime during middle school. Only I played Sonic 3 & Knuckles before I saw the series
The best way to conquer you fear is to either play Lego Dimensions (he's easy to beat, honestly) or get those Emeralds in Sonic 3&K! Don't give in, I believe in you buddy!

This actually reminds me, when I was about 10 or 11, I was deathy afraid of the generic roller enemies from spring yard zone, from Sonic 1. I remember the first time I ever encountered one so vividly.
I think half the shock factor, came from not expecting a spookier looking sonic sprite to catch up to you, but holy fuck; that had me scrambling to turn my system off and sobbing. I still think the sprite for the sonic-look alike enemy looks a little menacing, especially when you're playing on a CRT tv.

Yeah, don't feel bad. Seriously he beat me when he went super and I never went back to fight him ever again for some reason, despite completing every sonic game even with the emeralds at the time. Glad to know you need the emeralds when you face him to get a good ending, because I plan to go back and fight him again. It really bugs me that I finished the game with sonic only to get completely massacred by that thing while playing as knuckles when I was a kid. That's a fight I want to go back and finish. He's really the only boss I can think of that I never beat in a game, and that's really saying something. I'm pretty sure I fought him before seeing SMBZ.
I can only imagine what it would feel like to create such a legendary villain from what is essentially fanfiction that people come to associate said character with YOUR version more than his canon counterpart, to the point of becoming terrified of him whenever he shows up.
I liked his portrayal in SMBZ - he was a genuine threat and was very clearly demonstrated to be a complete monster, a good contrast to the other villains that made an appearance, like Bowser.
Well, as much as I am a big fan of Mecha Sonic, it did leave some big concern as how sadistic he was in SMBZ.
I like to portray him with my interpretation of him.
But I don't want to go a bit overboard with the sadistic side.
I don't want to scare the living daylights out of someone.
I hope you'll be okay with this strange, but understandable fear of yours.

He made him spat the emerald out, and said to Yoshi: "You could have made things easier on yourself if you just cooperated. But then again, I still would have killed you anyway." He knew he would wipe him out on the spot, but by intervention from Mario and the others coming this way, he got away with the emerald. That goes to show he isn't one to show mercy. He doesn't show mercy to anyone, he kills them on the spot.

So uh...What do you think of the SMBZ reboot so far? I think Mecha Sonic(now called Metallix) is even more threatening there than in the original. And his fight against Yoshi is even more brutal than ever! As in he tries to strangle Yoshi!!!
I think he’s more terrifying than Mephiles, he poses a physical threat unlike any other villain.

When I was 9 I had a fear of Skeleton Bowser from a DS Mario game. Just the fact that bones of a giant turtle that breathes fire can move and can still breath fire terrified me. Now that stupid fear has been replaced with an irrational fear of any large body of water.

No, but seriously, he’s just such a cool character, his design is really cool, and I’ll never forget the feeling I had first seeing Mecha Sonic backwards slide towards the Master Emerald and suddenly go Super out of nowhere, using JUST the Master Emerald, not even a single Chaos Emerald. Also, I KNOW the Master Emerald controls the Energy in the Emeralds and keeps it contained, and it’s more powerful then the 7 Chaos Emeralds.

Its alright, I was scared of Metal Sonic when I was 4-6, I would always think he was gonna chase me or at least try to race me to the death like in Stardust Speedway, at least in the Hallways, also, I was reading at the age of five, I was extremely smart at that age.

I got to tell you something. When I saw Mecha Sonic, I wasn't even afraid of him at all. I enjoying watching the fights against him where one fight he transforms into his semi super form and bodies the entire Axem Rangers X team.

When I was a Child, I was also afraid of Turbo Mecha Sonic, I mean, while I may not have that fear from him curently, not gonna lie, he still gives me some chills on my spine even with Cooler's voice. And like You, I also believed SMBZ was canon, of course as time pased I discovered that SMBZ is a diferent story, as an AU if you would say. But when it comes of Who is one of the characters that I am afraid of, is Sephirot from Kh2, this guy could Just destroy you in an instant if your not Quick enough and by god his theme... Sephirot's theme was Just scary when I was little.

The George of the Jungle gorillas freaked me the HECK out. I'd leave the room if the advertisements came on TV, and the theme song was my personal JAWS theme. I finally got over the fear in HIGH SCHOOL when I watched the first film in full. Love the 2nd, too!
A fear of mine is I made a character to be the equal to my hero, however I made him so powerful for a long time I thought he could actually kill/control me. I got over most of it, but I end up drawing him again to face off my hero; and each time I bring him back I get chills down my spine, because once he shows up. Somebody is going die (in the story).

When I discovered SMBZ as a kid, I was shocked that a villain was actually winning. Those kinds of villains I love 100x more now.
Who wouldn't be afraid of that Blue Murder Machine Menace? Guy's like Ultron but doesn't stick to philosophies. He only cares about dominance and death.
Your story reminds me of my *own* struggles with SA-X from Metroid Fusion. But I was *four* when I first saw *that.* I *think* I chucked the Game Boy into a wall. Or was that my cousin? I forget. And SA-X nightmares have been with me ever since. I am 23 years old now. And even now, every once in a blue moon, I will still have a vivid SA-X nightmare.
I don't really have a nonsensical fear. But you inspired me to make a version of Mecha Sonic that was broken apart. I actually thought of the idea before scrapnik island. Thanks.
Let's be real, nearly all of our views of Mecha Sonic stem from SMBZ.
You know what I think might help? If you watch the Eggman vs Wily DEATH BATTLE, because Mecha Sonic dies, however though, based off how the fight ends, you might get the nostalgia of Sonic Heroes, but as long as you're not scared of Metal Sonic, you should be fine, but just in case Metal Sonic starts scaring you, you should also watch the Metal Sonic vs Zero DEATH BATTLE after watching Eggman vs Wily, that way you'll be ok hopefully.

Back when I was 5-7 Years old I was often in malls with my mom and obviously there were Mannequins and when I was unintentionally kinda lost in there I often encounter those blank statues (Mannequins) standing there staring without moving and I was horrified of them somehow and I still am to this day.

There are worse childhood traumas out there, you don't have to feel ashamed or like you cannot deal with it. Trust me, if you went to a psychiatrist, they're not going to laugh at you. Given you were SEVEN when it happened, many things scare us at that age.
I've never had a trauma at that age that stuck with me for so long, but I can definitely relate to being terrified of a fictional character. For me it was Sharptooth from the first Land Before Time when I was like 5.
Whenever I saw Neo Metal Sonic transform into Metal Madness and Metal Overlord in Sonic Heroes, I was just like, "OH MY GOD, WHAT IS THAT MONSTROSITY?!?!" But now, it doesn't scare me anymore, I have now thought of Metal Overlord as a Metal Sonic version of Mechagodzilla
I watch SMBZ as a child and god, Mecha Sonic used to genuinely terrify me, I think is partly because of his design and you know... that he has a freaking machine gun in his hand.

I fucking love Hyper form, i will unlock it every time if i have to, it is so worth facing the challenge
Infact Hyper as a whole made S3&K alot more interesting to me
But it always seemed such a shame to me that all they did with Hyper is have sonic fly around in space attacking a nearly defenseless ship

As for fears
I'm just ordinary, but the bad future/boss fight music of the Japanese soundtrack for Sonic CD is plenty reason for me to not want to play it
Especially within it's own context, like the first level, it's very much the same area, but after being turned to something horrendously awful
It also puts things into light how Sonic was always trying to fight for nature and against machines
(Despite for some reason having an airplane that he can't even pilot [actually i don't know if he can or not, i just assume he can't because we never see him do so, and last we saw his plane was damaged, probably from his shitty piloting skills that he may or may not have])
And it makes me wonder how that hedgehog could go on in such a bad future
Oh yeah and Tails Doll, that little thing always creeped me out, apparently being a fan of tails also means that you'd probably eventually google tails doll to figure out what it is, and then be filled with instant regret

i have an almost similar fear of the artificial chaos robots from sonic adventure 2 battle. and it's all because i absentmindedly walked up to the pulsatin blue blob, only to get the scare of a lifetime when it suddenly sprouted a head and proceeded to attack me with it's tentacles at lightenin speed over and over again.
despite this happenin as a teen, i'm still not over it as an adult. no matter how much i try to suck it up when replayin any of the hero and dark ark stages.
for some strange reason though, while they still freak me out takin them down is slightly less harrowin for me when i play shadow the hedgehog.
For me, it was first coming across the Sonic.exe creepypasta via a video about it. That shit nearly traumatized me..
I used to just be generally scared of creepypasta stuff. One night, I went through what I believe was a case of _sleep paralysis_ where Slenderman was just standing next to my bed, and due to me being sleep-paralyzed at the time, I couldn't even scream out loud in fear. Then there was a more traditional nightmare that took the form of a sprite animation that zoomed into a treehouse, and inside was this weird hybrid of the Tails Doll and the corrupted Tails from Sonic.EXE, with that entity in particular sort of becoming what I associate with my creepypasta binging days and how much of an idiot I feel like due to doing so.
More recently, I had two more dreams related to Sonic.EXE, but one was prevented from being a true nightmare due to me somehow being able to control in-dream me and cover my eyes every time a jumpscare happened and eventually shut down the game involved despite me being _pretty sure_ I wasn't lucid dreaming at the time, and the other one felt more like one of those joke animations than anything. Those were both sprite-based too, btw. If you wanna know how that latter one went down, just tell me.
When I was 7, I had constant nightmares of my worst fear at the time. I'm embarrassed to say that fear was sonic.exe... yeah...
If you know Freddy Krueger or pennywise, what if you encounter him in your dreams or pennywise in real life, shape-shifted into a form of mecha sonic, can you survive? :)
Does anybody else crave Mecha Sonic content because he deserves more recognition and so you clicked on this video?

I had a similar feeling also because of SMBZ to the point where I would play Sonic & Knuckles and be intimidated when I found out I had to fight Mecha Sonic near the end of Knuckles' campaign. I remember when playing Sonic Heroes for the first time I was convinced that Neo Metal Sonic was Turbo Mecha Sonic due to him being taller and having longer quills than Metal. So I was intimidated by his presence and was terrified when he turned into Metal Madness. Also because of the OVA where I would sometimes call Metal: Hyper Metal Sonic, I would sometimes call Mecha Sonic in Sonic 3 or his cameo in Lego Dimensions as: Turbo Mecha Sonic from SMBZ. Even though in the games where he doesn't compare, his monstrous version from SMBZ really left a lasting impression on me.
I fear Metal more than Mecha because Metal is the Mecha Sonic in super Mario bros Z but upgraded.
