    Not just a great video, but a fantastic channel overall. I have only done a few bits of plumbing related handywork around the house, but love watching your videos.
    Anyway, i have two quick questions:
    One. Followed your videos and swapped the taps on our bath. However, the bath panel is about 5 cm above the bottom of the lip. It came off and i can't get it back on. Any suggestions?
    Two. Is it possible to buy a replacement panel for a corner bath? Or do you need to know they make/model/etc?
    Keep up the awesome videos

    So no framing underneath the front edge of the bath? That's what I did, and it makes if much more solid, so the bath has support along all four edges. Particularly useful where people sit on the edge of the bath or put a lot of weight on it getting in and out.

    If you know your panel height ithen turn the bath upside down with the feet set to the desired height only if the floor is level and true, then turn back over to test fit, place wall brackets or a brace tied loose with a screw and washer that allows the installer access with a long screwdriver to screw the brace or brackets and tighten in the position securing the in er edge to the wall, always place something like a couple of pads of kingspan in center of bath and use a tiny bit of exp foam to secure and stop it squeaking... This makes the bath more secure when under load. It's pretty easy and with a considered approach it's probably a 15 min task at most 👌 waste and traps etc are a few mins each at most... It's all about understanding the work required and prioritising it so you are not spending unnecessary time going back and forth etc... Love your vids dude, I'm 22 years in trade and I'd not do anything other than getting the customer their wants needs or desires and the job satisfaction etc is better than the pay at times

    I fitted one of these the other day. You can get the whole bathroom suite (toilet, basin, bath, bar mixer shower and glass side etc) for ~ÂŁ600 from Victorian so it says about quality. I did a dumb though and didn't measure the side panel first! Needless to say the inch and a half gap under the side panel wasn't a good start to the day! Seems pretty strong though, I found the tiler stood on the outside edge of it putting up 300x600 floor/wall tiles and it didn't flex! Love the editing quality though, turning yourself into a real Casey!

    Brilliant video, very nice install! I had a couple of questions...I might have missed this, but once the bath is in and the feet are tightened up..what's to stop someone pulling the bath away from the wall? Is it glued or screwed onto the support battens? You did mention something around 10:10 but not sure if that's what you were talking about. Also, are the feet not screwed into the floor? I've seen this on a few baths but that bath doesn't seem to have screwholes...is it safer to drill a few holes into the plastic legs and secure to the boards/tiles? Thanks!

    • @hassellvinny
      @hassellvinny Pƙed 5 lety +2

      After fitting the same bath recently I answered my own questions.. the bath comes with plastic brackets that hold it to the wall. These are tricky to get on as I had to drill them to the wall from under the bath..a long drill bit and long screwdriver is handy here. I drilled pilot screwholes in the plastic feet and screwed them to the floorboards to stop them moving (although the weight of the bath will probably stop them moving as well). I also noticed that the centre of the bath could be pushed down a tiny bit, so I added a wooden baton support with legs myself for the centre to sit on, and screwed this to the floor with L brackets. Much more solid now and bath isn't moving anywhere.

      Nice one mate, I'm doing mine tomorrow and it sounds like I have the same bath fittings as you. I will drill pilot holes into the feet as well... did you put wall battens and also did you glue the bath to the wall too? Thanks for any advice you can give 👍

    • @hassellvinny
      @hassellvinny Pƙed 5 lety +2

      @@bigt8699 yes I built a wall frame for the bath using batons, just bear in mind it's not always possible to do that depending on how much room your taps need to get past the baton if that makes sense. Just baton where you can but no need to go overboard. No need to glue the bath to the wall as you can screw it to the batons with some kind of bracket, e.g. l brackets or maybe something flat. Each bath is slightly different so you kind of had to wing it as you go. One other thing I did is to attach a flexible sealing strip around the bath, this sticks to the bath and is tiled over to give a secondary seal in case the silicone ever fails. Have a look for MX sealing strip on internet.

    • @TomHarrison999

      Depends how good you want the finish to be.Tiling the floor first will create a better finish as the bath panels, toilet and sink will all sit on top of the tiles - creating a nice finish, as opposed to tiling after all the work which has the potential to look messy

If thats just a simple couple of mil bath edge balancing on each of those 3 sides of batten, that would worry the hell out of me. How is it fixed ? I understand its not going to move down, as the batten and the bath legs are all level, but is it really just a strip of CT1 glue, holding the bath to the walls ?

    Hello all, I've found myself in a fairly desperate situation where I need to finish two bathroom ASAP and don't have the 5-8k to pay someone. I am beyond handy and feel comfortable and confident getting it done but I am stuck. The current bathroom that I'm working on has been gutted down to sub floor and some drywall. I bought a Mirabelle Tub that's 60X30. The tub says you need a mortar bed under it which is expected for an Acrylic tub. So, I test fit the tub and its leveled from side to side (width) but, front to back (length) it’s a much different story. It’s out of level by more than 3/4 over 5 ft. What am I supposed to do with this? It’s a left hand tub and the high side is opposite the drain. Should I try and allow the mortar to bring up the front to match. If you can see the pic I provided, this is a 3/4 piece of wood that when places under the front raises the tub to be almost level. I'm thinking you don't want shims that huge under a tub. Do I try and use some sort of floor leveling? Please help with expertise responses.
    Thanks.

    Looking forward to more videos. Will be going to your home page and going to watch every single one that you have done. You make it all look so easy. I have started to fit bathrooms after working in the city for 30 years. Steep learning curve. coming up against so many things that i'm not sure if i am doing as it should be done. I just put a bath in against a wall that was banana shape and on a floor that sloped away with a 20cm difference. Had to put in a bath panel and try and get it all to look level in the end. Tough job. Had to cut it down which wasn't easy. Also had to channel out the wall for a shower. Many of the vids I have watched especially from the states all have stud walls in which to put your pipes and have plasterboard finish or backer board. All my installations so far have been into brick walls and having to work out how to fix the tails for the shower mixer into a wall that you cant get a fixing into. No one seems to show those kind of vids. Discovered the other day what a megaflow was as well when i had to add a rad on. So many different types of water systems and installation methods for showers. Going to get me one of your T shirts. Love the videos and love your attitude to work. Wish i could find someone like you to work with.

    Hi, when you’re fixing the baton to the wall, isn’t the wall plasterboard? Will normal screws hold without a plug/fixing?

    • @andrewsymes249
      @andrewsymes249 Pƙed 3 lety

      I was wondering that, no wall plugs

    • @daleprosser350
      @daleprosser350 Pƙed 3 lety

      @@andrewsymes249 after rewatching it, he does say go and have a cuppa to let the glue go off. I think the screws are just to hold the baton to the board until the glue sets and then the glue is what holds up bath up, not the screws themselves

    Guys, help! What fixings/ glues would you use if mounting a bath to plasterboard walls...

    • @hennnnerz
      @hennnnerz Pƙed 5 lety

      find a stud and use any standard plasterboard screw. Maybe gripfill or ct1 glue

    Great video James with some good tips on measuring and battening. Is there a reason your not sealing the moisture boards with Aqua seal before fitting the shower bath especially where the sparky has cut into the board? I see you prefer to use glue and sealant to fix the shower bath to the wall rather than first fitting a MX Flexi strip seal around the edge that the tiling will cover. Maybe you cover this off in a later video but just thought I'd ask. Great place to hide the shower pump, although I thought we weren't allowed plug fittings in zone 0 even with an RCD.

      Space under bath is considered outside the zones if only accessible with tool or key. In those circumstances a socket outlet is acceptable .

    What! No cello[phane on the acrylic to peel back from the rim and around the overflow and plug holes? Embarrassed to admit it, but there have been a few, FEW, occasions when I have forgotten to peel it back just a wee bit before fitting waste. Silly me!

    Oh mate please help me out here ive just fitted a bath waste and trap , no leaks apart from one coming from the over flow pipe that you push on , the flexi one, when ever there is a full bath ofg water the pressure is causing it to leak at the bottom , not huge but enough to be of concern. Ive tried sealing it with SLX and even tried clamping it up with a cable tie but im still getting a leak and its driving me crazy. Im now thinking of trying to get some rubber tube (haven't a clue what size) and using a jubilee clip. Any tips I would be extremely grateful

      Use CT1 and LEAVE it for a day before you run any water in.....that should do it. Otherwise you might have a hairline crack on the plastic...

      Wrap some ptfe around the male end of the overflow then push the hose over it always works a treat for me gives it a better seal

      Bit late (2 year old post) but try Geocell "The Works" - expensive (c.ÂŁ8 per tube), but works like magiic!! Can be applied in the wet, seals and sticks with almost anything and retains flexibility, In bright sunshine it still works, but stays tacky to touch - but that's the only deficiency! Will sort your problem for sure!

    I did chuckle the way you added one nut to the leg, left it at the end then wound the second nut the whole length of the bar. why not add the first, wind it up an inch then add the second from the back?
