You guys should be paid by the Czech Tourism Board as you are clearly doing a better job than they ever will.
They might be, actually. I remember them being funded by somebody.
This is actually their job they are getting paid for filming it by a company

@@toro712 Not anymore, they said they split around a year ago

Time to make an Honest Guide charity to fight all the charities.
The Honest Charity is a really good idea! :-)
What would be the cause, HGs?
I would be in as a Membership to be protected when I visit the City. I allways wanted to get there to grab some good Photos but was, as well, allways to decline that thought as I heard to many stories about scams in every way possible.

One day im going to go to Prague, and when a scammer comes to me, i will just say "no thanks scammer, i watch Honest Guide"

Love from Romania!
These scammers are the garbage of Romania
If some scammer would come to me with the pen and paper, I wouldn't steal the pen like Janek. I would rather set the paper on fire and then run.
These people are shame of Romania.
I had two guys try to pull the street money exchange scam when I was in Bucharest some years ago. When the 'cop' showed up to 'bust' us I laughed in his face and walked away.
Bună ziua!
yup most scammers in touristy euro countries are the trash of romania or poland, giving them a bad name
I wonder if they are the Roma people or not. Because I heard that, all the scammers from Romania/Bulgaria are Roman people and not the confuse with real Romanians.
These things are a heaven for "creative" lawyers. There are probably a hundred loopholes. And closing one loophole may open two new ones.
For example, I wouldn't be surprised that when charity collectors are obligated to return 100% of money to the charity, that the charity is allowed to pay salary to some of its employees. And then they just pay their employees 99% of the collected money.
That's the basic business model for most charities worldwide.
@@TokyoXtremeyea exactly, most times when you donate only 7 to 15 percent of the money actually gets donated. The rest is for the people running the charity.
At this point he owns Prague
I mean he should it seems pretty evident that he loves the city, would definetly be a better mayor than any politician, also he exposes so many problems of prague he could just fix those problems and make prague prague from my No.1 travel destination to my dream city.
@@ipadair7345 Not really... It's shit he said that they have to pay 100%... at least it must be 50% and it will be fine...
@@LulloSplaty I'm also clearly in favour of a mandate of at somewhere between 50%-70% and thought of that as idea before he mentioned his, but come on, are you REALLY this upset over it?
You and him see the issue almost exactly the same way, you just suggest a slightly different solution.
@@LulloSplaty
Well to be honest that's just bullshit and I get a feeling that you don't entirely know what the job of a mayor entails. I could envision him in the role of mayor/head of the department of tourist outreach matter.
Hi Janek and Honza, may I ask when the Netflix show about scammers is coming out? You mentioned it in one of your previous videos.
Please contact a pro climber so that he can do the bar "challenge" 😄 and do a video about it, I would love to see the reaction of the scammer when losing the bet
Even if it rotates?
@@Pitusha yes, a good climber will beat the challenge for sure!
There is already a video out of a guy who trained himself to beat it. The guy started pulling him down and tickling him at the end so he would lose focus. The are such scammers they did not even want someone to win fair and square
@@Pitusha It's hard to beat but nowhere near impossible. If you can hook grip the bar like you would on a deadlift then it's not much harder than 60seconds on a normal bar. I honestly wouldn't even call it a scam.
It's just difficult, but very much doable.
@@agilagilsen8714 I would love to see a video of pros winning this challenge 🤭
Am I the only one who got distracted by the man at 6:40 making Snow man and wants to see it?
Remember a deaf dumb scammer came to us but had watched your video and were laughing in English a language she obviously knew and the insults finally got to her and we were told to """ seconds before another man was about to give her money . Poetic justice
The other thing those people walking around with the fake charity clipboards do is pickpocket! They're usually never alone, there's always an accomplice hanging around to pick your pocket while you're distracted with their stupid clipboard.
This is true... I had to watch my family very carefully when a bunch of them showed up with a clipboard.
@@boyoyongman I saw this scam myself when I was in Paris a few years ago. We were at Sacre Coeur and I hope I ruined their day by shouting "PICKPOCKETS AND THIEVES!!!" But it's amazing the depths to which these thieves will sink. They use children to basically surround you when you are near a shop. And the worst was how they were using babies up to 2 years old...they would have them sedated for the day. Holding the child in their arms and using the kid as cover to pick people's pockets or cut their bags.
Keep uncovering those scammers! Thank you for shedding light on these important issues! We are big fans of the Honest Guide 😄
Me too. I like to think I am a savvy traveler, but Honest guide has taught me a lot.

i was wanting to write a comment about some guys in Switzerland collecting money for a "deaf & mute sanctuary" and holy heck, you're actually talking about it.
Over here it was in Lidl, a rather large chain store like Target or Walmart. Unfortunately they ran away before the police showed up.
Unrelated, Another scammer at a train station tried to collect money for a surgery for his son, cause that kid apparently had a cleft lip. Yet a quick google search of "cleft lip" in front of him promptly showed image results of "his son" that he had showed me.
Prague scam charities, Prague ham, Belarus street money exchange, deaf scammers, restaurants scamming tourists, scam money exchange offices, scam taxis, fake monks etc etc. In 5 years of watching the Honest Guide and 4 trips to Prague I have side-stepped every scammer I encountered because of Janek and Honza. Keep up the excellent work guys! Bugger the scammers. BTW, the tips in many videos help tourists to avoid similar pitfalls in other countries too. The Polish Kangaroo from Australia.

From England
I was in Berlin and London just before pandemic and there were exactly same scams as in Prague including the rotating bar. They all have the same methods everywhere.
@@Hunter-zn2hx Paris, Madrid & Rome too. European cities are too harmless. They are free to scam tourists, protected by do-gooders.
Love that you in the snow doing this. When I went to Prague it did not snow. I was sad. I’m from NOLA. It never snows here.
Thanks again Janek and Honza. Love watching your videos of my favourite city.
Keep surfing your town and exposing the scammers in Prague! You two are true citizens of your country because you research and take appropriate actions to keep your neighborhoods scam free!
PS
I second the motion to only allow charities at the town square where 100 % of the proceeds go to nationally recognized charity organizations.
Another great video - thanks for exposing these fraudsters. Have you ever thought of doing a video on Jaroslav Hasek or The Good Soldier Svejk? I am in awe every time I see the footage of the scetchy people Janek and Honza put up with. It seems kind of dangerous, doesn't it? ^^ - The quiet YT heroes of Prague. I think both need a cape :D They show so much love for their home and put an immense amount of effort into making their city safer for locals and tourists alike. Also I really like how they use YT as a platform to educate about their culture and local specialities. Simply Great :-) (So many suggested it already - I do not know how much burocracy it needs but... couln't you found an honest Prague charity? and use all the money to publish more honest guides, donate to orphanages, animal shelters and real deaf-charity?)
As a Romanian , honest working Romanian I am so ashamed that these sub par humans are all over the world doing stuff like you shown in your videos. I worked for two years in Malmo at a game developer company and people associated me with those sub par humans presented in your videos. Keep up the good work exposing these people. Much love from a honest Romanian
PS: Come and visit sometime o/ (after the pandemic preferably :))) )
Here in Mexico, street sellers, beggars, charity workers, window cleaners, they all have to pay a fee to the cartel. If you would mess with them like in your videos, a truck would come by, pick you up, and you would turn out the next day in some ditch and not alive.
honestly i have been more asked to sign something or donate money in cities like paris and berlin than in prague - and luckily cuz of you i knew abt the traps in prague :-)
Loved the vid, per usual! Although, will say think 80% would be more intriguing, tbh- in terms of portions required to be for charitable donation(s).
Edit: GORGEOUS guides, boyos!!! Love your pride in your country.

HOLY CRAP at 8:50 you talked about a scam with a clip board and paper. I REMEMBER that exact paper when I was in France! This chick who looked A LOT like the chick in your video (probably same nationality) just wouldn't effing leave me alone. I finally gave in and signed her stupid paper with a joke name (I was military, I don't give out information) and walked away. She was still mad at me. I guess I was supposed to give her some Euro's after signing it. At the time I thought she was just some activist. I had no idea it was a scammer lmao. I spent a couple minutes explaining to her that "I'm not French, my signature means nothing", but she just wouldn't let up. Funny how she gave up after I signed but didn't give her Euro's. I didn't even realize she was asking for Euros.
I had completely forgot about that incident in Paris until I saw that form.
Venice beach, CA has the same 'hold on to the bar' scam (except for the charity part)
The lady running 😹 would make a great gif lol 😂
Prague is a lovely country but I wouldn't be as proud of it as you quite clearly are. The problem isn't just the criminals, it's also the Police and local authorities that quite clearly don't care. When you can fill an entire channel with issues like the ones you are highlighting all it does is put me off coming back to Prague again. I'm sure it will put people off ever going at all.
I bet you're glad you did the 'bridge run video' last time before the snow came down!
Hi janek...
I live in the uk where weve had a bit of snow. Please please please, dont slide on the footpath. It compacts the snow and polishes it, then it snows on top and it makes it very dodgy for older and disabled people!!!
Cool video, lots of people should see it it's the only way to fight scams. Another good way is for tourists to seek out locals who would hang out with them for the whole duration of their stay
I bought ham and halusky from those stands. I knew to watch out for being overcharged, but when I ordered the guy working there said “how much do you want? It’s charged per 100g.” Maybe they are getting better?
Also, I would’ve rather a restaurant but I was just getting something fast to eat before going to have drinks.
8:10 min EXACTLY what happened to me today. But I did not expect it. Because it happened in my own country (germany) in a really small City on the parking lot of a Hardware store! I've never met a scammer in my town until yet.
He had the exact same paper (with german text) and was not talking one Word. I just said sorry and went away because I was super confused if it was a scam or not.
Wow, i've stood and watched that exact "hang from you arms for 2 minutes" scam a couple years back, and now im seeing it in a CZcams video. Feels so wierd...
I got scammed here in Venice by a girl doing the sign the notepad for charity thing. She used only gestures to make me think she was deaf, and the charity was for deaf/mute people.
I myself have a hearing disability, that took more than 50% of my hearing so I was compassionate. Then I realised I got scammed cause the number on the sheet didn't exist.
Another time in Milan I was sitting in parco sempione in the center and a girl approached me and my friend with a sign asking for money , we told here we were students and didn't have any, but in the meantime 2 guys who were working with her stole my phone from behind.
I lost trust in people asking money after these(and others occasions where I realised and prevented the scam).
I could go on all day with scams that I encountered not only in Italy but other countries too.
My advice for who is too compassionate like me is to donate to a charity, don't give your money to strangers or instead offer them to buy food or whatever they are asking, if they are genuine they will accept whatever you give them.
And last but not least keep your distance from them until you had enough time too check who they are, and be aware of overfriendly people.
I learned the hard way but not everyone has to!
Love your content guys, you have a new subscriber as of today!
If only the world had more people like you!
Unless they have a rule stopping it , all one has to do is put one hand forward and one hand backward and the bar won’t spin. Then watch the face of the scammer go pale.
👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️
Great work as usual!
Perhaps a ban to sell/offer anything in Prague should be made illegal.

Tho I completely agree with the premise, I don't completely agree with your opinion that they should give 100% to charity, I think they should give a sizable chunk, or most of it to charity... But if they were (*at least*) unable to cover their own living expenses then they wouldn't bother to collect anything - which means instead of the charity getting a bit of something, they get a lot of nothing. I certainly don't think they should be profiteering in the slightest, but I don't see much issue with a small amount of profit. 3% is ludicrous tho! If you say that guy (with the hanging bar) makes a giant amount of money - if he's making enough to live a simple, modest life - then after those small expenses - his 3% should shoot up to a MUCH larger percent. Maybe after his simple expenses, he should be the one keeping the 3% and the charity gets the rest?
I dunno, but I'm sure it's not a simple issue.
Hiya guys I've been subscribed to your channel for just over 2 years now, and I was wondering as you're about Prague eventually after covid has sorted itself out I would like to come there to do the trance rave they call (transmission) is there anything in the video you can tell us about where the Venue is normally located and where to possibly stay in a reasonably priced Hotel near the airport or something?
This Deaf and Mute Scammed happened to me in Paris. There were a bunch of girls asking for money for the same. I asked them about school and stuff and convincingly told them that it's from school and they do charity. I gave them coins in 3-4 euros but they demanded more than 20euros. I said you are doing a great job have some soda, you must be tired.
Seen a lot of scams where people prey on someone's kindness and it really makes me sad and wonders how the evil world has turned.
I need that Pilsner Urquell hat!
I saw that disabled "charity" donation collectors in Berlin. So enraging!
Janek --- you should run for public office to bring up some of those Honest solutions. Document the process and publish what a scam politics really is! Represent the people, not the government!!
6:43 the guy in the background is just rolling a snowball lol
I love the guy at @06:45 who is just casually forming a sněhulák.
WARNING about food by weight.....I ordered a steak in Prague. My big fat bill arrived...as fat as my steak. I was charged by weight even though I wanted just a smalll steak.. it was over 1000czk . Was also charged for use of the condiments and dishes!! I refused to pay. I told them fine...so call the police!! Well the creepy police arrived..a threatening group of huge men who slammed their hands on the table and said you WILL PAY!...so I did.
So WHAT makes Prague a scammers paradise? Can you hint more clearly about this? Vienna is "somehow able to keep these scams in check. Whats going on!!!!.
Congrats on your progress, being small creator is hard. Thumbs Up 👍
*Suggestions: Some ideas for the brainstorm of Charity Fundraising Guidelines*
1. Track the charity money more closely
2. Have a set minimum percentage, not 100% there are costs, but hopefully the majority required to go to the charity or go to charity funds not for advertisement or personnel
3.Have to register and have approved the number of people participating in an approved defined area.
You can have shifts and people swap out [it's okay to not have names and IDs for the safety of charities that may be political targets], but only the pre-approved number of charity representatives/participants may be present at the pre-approved location at any time.
[Times of events should not be required to be released to the public, again for safety of legitimate charity participants.]
