Brilliant video mate, my daughter just paid to get her broken right driveshaft replaced by a garage in an emergency, we thought we'd have a go at the left on our own over the weekend and done it. THANK YOU!
Very clear and informative. I like your vids as you don't rush things. You explain which bits are required as well as showing it. This helps upcoming techs like me. I also own a mk4 golf. Thanks again. Thumbs UP.
Every time I have an issue with my car I search how and always come across your videos. About time I subscribed 👍🏼 your videos are so clear and your advice is always on point! Keep it up man 👌🏼
Your videos are terrific--thank you! Thanks to your videos, I was able to successfully remove the front CV/axles and turbocharger on my 2002 Jetta TDI. One small note: here in Canada no one knows what an "N10" is. I was able to track it down because you showed what the driver looks like--they use the term "12 point" here, same with the axle nut remover, also "12 point". Thanks again--really appreciate your videos, clear and well done!
Excellent demonstration. I was able to do the job at home myself in a short time thanks to your demo. This saved me time and money at the garage. Thanks matey. Skott - England - UK 🇬🇧
Awesome video, I've just ordered a new axle for my Golf, so will be following your instructions. I used your vids to replace wishbones/tie rods end etc etc. They're all really easy to follow and very clear, nice work mate.
Hey mate, Was wondering if you ever posted the video of "jacking up a mk4 golf/jetta", like you mentioned in this video. Looing for trusted advise and a visual on a safe place to put jack stands. Thanks!
Love how the 30mm axle nut comes off nice & easy (or pre-staged)..... mine took about 20 min with breaker bar, cheater pipe, PB blaster & a hand torch. Always fun
Massive help mate. I needed to know what size sockets and spline/torch bits I need before starting mine as Iv got limited tools at the moment so nice one. Great video
Great vid. I did this for the first time on my 91 Golf. The impact wrench helped out so much, and I had an inexpensive Sears Craftsman battery powered wrench that did the whole job easily.
tire rotations/removal make you look nascar fast 😁 If it takes more than a minute to remove a wheel once it's in the air on the jack with an electric impact, lower the car back down and take it to a shop 🤣
Great video, really clear detailed instructions, just what i needed when i replaced my Driveshaft on my seat Ibiza which has the same vag layout just different size nuts/bolts. cheers.
Good video BMAC, was wondering, I have a VW Golf and 3 of the bolts are broken inside the CV joint, can I just take of the remaining bolts to remove the broken bolts without having to remove the whole CV joint.
Thanks again matey, I used that video to replace the CV joint on the gearbox as mine was completely dead. friend of mine works at the VW dealership so got the parts half price!! Installed everything and it's all good now!! Thanks again bro and keep uo the videos!!!
Thanks a million.. its a very clean video. Hey I am in question which side my axle seal is on?? inside transmission or outside?? 00 vw jetta 2.0 manual transmission. Any help is greatly appreciated.
For anyone trying this save yourself a shit load of time by NOT undoing the balljoint and instead turn the wheel, it will have enough clearance to come out!
I was planning to attempt it but wasn't sure if it'll work, your post tells me it'll work, it will save time and the alignment stays the same. Thank you.
First of all, he didn't undo the balljoint. I tried to remove the passenger axle on my 96 jetta mt by just turning the wheel and it did not give me enough clearance. In fact the axle almost jammed up on me. I will be removing the three bolts today to allow swing for more room.
How you realigned the brake/strut assembly to reconnect the 3 bolts by the ball joint, I wonder? Used a jack (for the strut was fighting to push it back down) but needs to be able to move front to back and side to side............
7 years later and your still helping people out, cheers 👍
8 years even!!
Brilliant video mate, my daughter just paid to get her broken right driveshaft replaced by a garage in an emergency, we thought we'd have a go at the left on our own over the weekend and done it. THANK YOU!
Nice one
8 year old video , and still gave me the knowledge I need to complete the job , thank you man 🙏
Very clear and informative. I like your vids as you don't rush things. You explain which bits are required as well as showing it. This helps upcoming techs like me. I also own a mk4 golf.

Every time I need to know how to fix something on this car, you've already got a video up for it :) Thanks gent, hope you're having a good weekend.
The screwdriver trick in the vent of the disk was a game changer, thank you!!!

Hi buddy, can you advise on how to remove the metal on the inner CV joint for the removal of the tripod roller?

Thanks...helpful video once again.
Very clear, nice job.
I like your videos!

I was planning to attempt it but wasn't sure if it'll work, your post tells me it'll work, it will save time and the alignment stays the same. Thank you.
You usually have to pull the two bolts on the bottom of the Strut... but I agree, Don't pull the ball joint or you will have to get another alignment.
I'm mechanic myself and I was wondering why he took ball joint off.....i give you props for knowing that as well
Confirmed! I am not a mechanic and just did it in my parking lot - turning the wheel is enough. Thanks for this tip, man!
First of all, he didn't undo the balljoint. I tried to remove the passenger axle on my 96 jetta mt by just turning the wheel and it did not give me enough clearance. In fact the axle almost jammed up on me. I will be removing the three bolts today to allow swing for more room.
Wow you made that drive shaft nut look simple, most people use scaffolding tubes for levearage. Excellent vid as usual..
Yes i have seen that before but no need for that here. Thanks for the comments.

Are they the same for both sides? Like, do you have a passenger side/driver side cv joint? If they are different how do you tell?
Good, clear instructions.
Replacing rubber boot do you recomend split type that glue for DIY guy
How you realigned the brake/strut assembly to reconnect the 3 bolts by the ball joint, I wonder? Used a jack (for the strut was fighting to push it back down) but needs to be able to move front to back and side to side............
