Very informative. Wow!! Thank you so much! This is by far one of the best CV axle removal i've seen. Please keep posting more. Thanks.
I did the exact same thing as you and forgot to undo the CV bolt before jacking up the car, had to lower it again to undo 😂
Gets me every time!
Cool to see your still responding to comments after all this time!
Are the flange bolts TTY? Guess not 😅
I try to keep on top of them! Don't think so, I imagine I would have replaced them if they were
This video safe me from forgot to put the washer and the plastic cone😂
Can you open the wheel bolts with a cordless screwdriver? Or have you already loosened it?
Wheel bolts undone with cordless impact driver, depends on the model though, maybe cheap brands won't work so well.
Great video. I don't know how you did it without getting covered in grease.
I'm not sure I did, might have been a combination of doing a few of them recently and selective video cuts
thank you so much. But you did not have to empty the gear box from oil, did you?
No problem at all, no, I didn't have to drain the gearbox! I wasn't sure if I was going to lose any fluid but none came out.
What size bit (torx? triple square?) is used for the inner 6 bolts?
I can't remember the bit size but they're triple square bolts
Why did you have to mark the first bolt you removed with the double stripes? Is there a special orientation to reinsert?
I wanted to make sure to put the axle back in the same position it was removed in case it was balanced as an assembly. I don't think it is, but it's easy to just make a mark, put it back as you took it off then you don't have to think about it. One of those things where you probably don't need it but if you find out later you do, it's too late.
100% TX!!@@ToolTimeWithTom
No locktite on the axle tripple quare bolts ?!
Hard to remember, been a while since I did this, if the bolts look like they had loctite on them before I add it again!
Where can I get this right hand side drive shaft of vw Jetta 2016
Depending which country you're in I suppose, they're readily available in the UK from general motor part sellers such as GSF and Autodoc
Do you have to drain the transmission oil before removing the driveshaft
No, on this DSG I unbolted from a flange rather than a spline going directly into the gearbox
@@ToolTimeWithTom is it the same with the 6 speed manual box ?
I'm not sure but could stick a pan under the driveshaft and then just drops into there, if it's bolted it should be fine
@@ToolTimeWithTom aye I will do, been told off a few people that it just bolts into the shaft and doesn’t go in the actual gearbox so no oil can leak out
is this an automatic gearbox that you change the axle on?
Yes DSG gearbox
That axle came way too easily 😂
It's only done 60k miles, thankfully nothing is rusted together yet
It appears that your special pinchy tool quite sucks I might add.
I can confirm, the pinchy tool does suck, I don't know if there's a better designed one available, there must be
Special pinchy tool???
I've added a link for the special pinchy tool in the video description, hope it helps!
