And how do you feel about hitting a punch with a hammer? No offset of the hand at all there, a miss is a struck hand. At least with a hammer you've got some offset to the hand.

I think the CV joint needed to be replaced before he hit it on the ground. If only it had to be greased and fitted with a new bellows, the action would be fraudulent on the customer, but we don't know that. Cutting towards the arm with the knife is highly risky, but not for the customer.

(Es mi opinión como mecánico y como profesional). Grácias!
@@johncoldwell340 The french brand Renault and others use an incessible clip indide the CV joint. you can see it only when the whole thing is apart. If the CV doesn't get out by hammer, you need to destroy the ball bearing inside the cv joint and cut the internal part with a grinder, then you can change the CV joint. Not a fast part change.

that's because they can chip and that tiny piece can fly off and hurt you or even bury itself into your skin. Don't ask me how I know. That doesn't mean you wont get away with it but someday it could happen. Not a good practice.

People using these fucking air powered stretchers to do a cv boot, this is exactly what sets apart a mechanic from a fitter. A fitter throws new parts at something, a mechanic fixes things
JUST GREAT !. We battled for ages hitting with one large hammer eventually having to angle grind the last knuckle off. Ended up damaging the good INNER CV on the other side of the shaft which then also had to be replaced. EXCELLENT METHOD.
Reason why you never hit two hammers together is because that they are both hardened and they will splinter or explode shooting shrapnel at you! Punches and chisels are softer material designed to be hit that’s the reason they mushroom
The last time I had to replace a CV joint, it was cheaper to buy the whole rebuilt driveshaft with two new CV, joints and boots, and just put it in. It may have been $20 more to get an entirely new driveshaft with two new boots and two new CV joints as opposed to buying just The new CV joint and replacing just one… Check first
@@AwesomenessIskey but if your changing it yourself and its not too bad of a job on your vehicle, they usually come with a lifetime warranty from autozone so if it ever fails you just swap it out. Youre only buying it once.
The cheap chinese knock offs dont last as long as your original or oem. If you csn get away with just replacing the boot, go ahead and keep your old part
That’s a punch hammer head. It’s ment to be used like a punch Basically a punch with a hole and a handle. Anyhow. I would wear safety glasses when striking with a hammer. Not all do.
X5 on a lift. Separate lower ball joint. Cut boot off, wipe out grease, air hammer on inner edge of joint near shaft pops right out. Slide on new boot and clamps. Reinstall shaft and joint. Fill boot with grease, clamp boot. Send it.
Last CV I bought was around $45 dollars at O’riellys. I’d rather pay that price for new, than to pay you to rebuild. Rebuilding doesn’t seem cost effective, unless your labor is free.

My brother hit 2 hammers like that, a tiny chip broke off one of them but travelling like a bullet , the chip went into his arm hitting a vein , blood everywhere.

You can hit hammer with hammer it's been myth busted . Although if your hammer is old & corroded parts can fly when hitting anything with the hammer.

Alot of cars use to have clips that you need to hold open with special clip Pliers before you try removing the joint
