Jumping from an aeroplane like that seem so much fun. I would love to get to do that but it is so expensive. (though I have done a few bungy jumps).
And for some reason that picture from WW2 at Sainte-Mère-Église where the paratrooper got stuck in the church tower pops up in my mind. ;D

The C-17 is a large plane for paratrooper combat drops, because if it is shot down more people will die.
The guy dragging his chute on the ground was unacceptable.

In Greece there is a SOF Parachute Brigade with two Paratrooper Squadrons, one HALO Squadron (ETA) and the Paratrooper School (in Asrpopyrgos west of Athens).
To go to the paratrooper school, soldiers must have completed Commando Basic Training first, so the all have green berets at the time they go for parachute training.
To graduate, students must make 5 jumps (usually 2 from a C-130 and 3 from a CH-47 Chinook).
These jumps are made in the same day.

Of course things may not always go as panned, like this happening during an exercise in Cyprus, between Greek and Cypriot paratroopers, some time ago:

The Greek commando was hanging from the C-130 for few minutes, until he was pulled back into the plane by other paratroopers.
He was medically checked out in a Cypriot Hospital and jumped again the next day.
