  • Forgotten Carp Rigs! THE SHOT ON THE HOOK RIG! Carp Fishing Tutorial! Mainline Baits Carp Fishing TV
    We've covered a whole host of carp fishing rigs on this channels, from The Simple Wafter Rig through to the Zig Rig and super-popular Spinner Rig, but is this carp fishing 2021 video we take a look at a somewhat forgotten presentation: THE SHOT OF THE HOOK RIG!
    Primarily a pop-up rig presentation, The Shot On The Hook Rig places the hook in a unique position, close to the lakebed that makes it ideally suited to a multitude of fishing situations, such as clean heavily baits areas where you want your hookbait to standout without being overly blatant. What's more the hook is already set at a good angle and position for gaining a hook hold, meaning it's a very good presentation for wary or pressured carp.
    Sound great, right?! Well perhaps the best bit is that in this video we show you how to tie The Shot On The Hook Rig with an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide!

    I can’t get on board with this one John sorry :( with any wafter rig as it’s lifted up a blob of putty and tightening to the lead will flip the hook into this position anyway. I get the idea behind it though. Much of a muchness now with the amount of rigs you’ve covered but a couple of ideas of you did want to do more: Double bottom bait parrot or claw rig (Hearn) or Pecks slip D multi. Love the vids mate 👊🏼

    I preferred this style of presentation with the bait up against the eye of the hook.. works well if the rig is compact and tidy. With longer shank hooks the presentation looks crude..

    A rig developed by John 'shoes' Jones after looking at a rig" frank warwick" was messing with on the bank . And one I've had great success with people giving this a thumbs down will never improve probly sit there week in week out blanking' to even doubt the mighty Shoes and Warwick you're on a losing streak 💯

    Location of the shot on the hook is not correct. The shot on the hook is invented by Piet Vogel from the 🇳🇱! As quoted here below, the inventor is Frank Warwick. Thank you Frank!

    • @frankwarwick8068
      @frankwarwick8068 Před 2 lety +3

      I’m sorry but I showed Piet Vogel and Coon Coops this rig when I was with PB products later on they made a dropper instead of the shot FACT
      I came up with this rig whilst fishing with John Jones while we were on Birch Grove in 1998 John and I both had joint input with it as wafters which were not often used back then outfished pop ups so we wanted a rig that fished a pop up very close to the bottom but dropped weight onto the floor of the carps mouth. It was very effective

    All very interesting but as we discovered many moons ago a bottom bait trapped round in the same position as your shot does exactly the same job without the faff, or need to buy silly little overpriced hookbaits.
