  • 🪓 Urban Legend is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month, so naturally we are going to talk about. And we've got a lot to say. Everything from its Scream influence, to its homage to 80s slashers. Rebecca Gayheart's career defining performance. Jamie Blanks's creative vision. Christopher Young's eerie score. The list goes on and on... As always, we'll also nominate which characters we think were most deserving of death, so stick around til the end so you can help us decide.

This is probably my favorite horror movie of the late 90s/early 2000s. It’s not the best movie, but I love the idea of killing people based on famous urban legends. The cameos are also amazing.

I love the kills are based off of urban legends and Brenda kinda have a Scream motive you can say her motive is the same as Mrs. Loomis and Detective Bailey, Ethan and Quinn except Brenda getting revenge for her companionship that was murdered and I don't care what nobody say Brenda was never the true villain.

My friend had the idea that Joshua Jackson’s film class student should’ve been the killer in scream VI. Him and jack Quaid have a solid resemblance and they’ve never brought back a known person as a killer and he could’ve totally been his dad. He was present during the scream 2 events, would’ve been perfect since scream VI had mirror qualities to Scream 2

Ahh this one’s special to me. Halloween 1998 I was 11. We saw this in theaters back to back with Bride of Chucky. Then bought Halloween 1978 right after and finally saw that beginning to end. Then went trick or treating as Ghostface, which admittedly millions of kids did that year. Definitely my most fond Halloween of my childhood

So happy that you guys discussed this overlooked and underappreciated movie, Zack is correct by saying that this is one of the better Scream-esque slashers that came out post Scream and is happy that Eddie is able to see the movie from a new nuanced perspective because of this pod, also, I've always felt / known since my first viewing that the actual twist of this movie is not about Brenda being the killer but the entire movie being an actual on campus Urban Legend story re-told by Brenda herself on different campuses, all these years no one got me until Zack said so himself on this pod and when I heard him say that I was like, yas! someone who got it! - I felt so validated, so thank you! 😂❤ FYI - I love the head cannon of Scream 2 being one of Brenda's target campus and would now think that, on how Scream 2 was supposed to end, she is the Ghostface hiding in the tower that was supposed to be shown in the end while the camera pans out as Sidney walks out.

I don’t ever need to watch IKWYDLS again. I left the theater disappointed. The Sarah Michelle Gellar scenes are the only scenes I’ve watched a few times. She should have been Julie. I'm NOT voting for Edward JUST because he is so far behind Zack in terms of wins according to the now-iconic SPREADSHEET, but also because yes... Michael & Jennifer Mancini's long-lost sister Michelle deserves to die for the shit she pulled in the flashback and for butchering "Total Eclipse of the Heart." If we pretend she is a long-lost Melrose Place alum, it makes sense for her to be related to Michael given his taste for vehicular manslaughter. I agreed with Zack about Paul being boring and was going to vote for him, but Edward made a wise selection. In fact, all of this happened BECAUSE Michelle killed Brenda's fiance. So, Michelle got a whole buncha people killed, including a dog.
Also, Zack, you're onto something with bringing up the "Wild Things" post-credits scenes... I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE if they revisited that style for the Scream franchise. I'd love to see scenes during the credits of Ghostface preparing their traps or preparing to kill their victims. It could answer "who-killed-who?" and also would show hilarious lines between Ghostfaces as they plot the murders. Could you imagine a scene with Billy & Stu staking out Casey's house, or Quinn hiding the knives in the kitchen in Scream 6, or Angelina cussing out Roman for dragging her "corpse" too hard down the hall when he "killed" her in Scream 3, or Jennifer "having a weak pulse" and thus still being alive in Scream 3? I'd love all that.
