KHICHDI RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
1.Raw rice 1 cup
2.Greengram dal (split skinned) ½ cup
3.Greengram dal (unskinned) ½ cup
4.Chopped onion(opt) ½ cup
5.Chopped carrot ½ cup
6.Chopped cauliflower ½ cup
7.Chopped beans ½ cup
8.Green peas ½ cup
9.Ghee / Oil 2 - 4 tbsp
10.Cumin seeds ½ - 1
11.Salt to taste
12.Asafoetida powder ½ tsp
13.Chopped ginger ½ tbsp
14.Chopped green chilli 2 - 4
15.Nuts 10 - 15
16.Kismis 15 - 20
17.Sugar 1 - 1 ½ tsp
PREPARATION
1.Heat the ghee, saute the chopped garlic pinkish, add ginger, saute till
smelling, add asafoetida, remove half of it and set aside the half portion.
2.Into the remaining portion, add the vegetables saute, add the rice, dal,
salt and pour 6 - 7 cups of water, cook up to 3 whistles.
3.Open when cool stir well, set aside .
4.Take a portion of Kichdi. Add more boiled water spread a little of the set
aside ghee cumin portion stir and use as such.
5.Take another portion of Kichdi without vegetables. Add ghee fried nuts
kismis and sugar mixture above stir and use as sweet Kichdi.
6.Take the remaining main portion, add cooked green peas, while still very
hot, stir well. Spread the remaining seasoned mix(Cumin ghee mix). Serve hot.

My favorite saree. Teacher, you look so elegant in this saree. Pinne khichdi, njan adyamayittanu cook cheythu kanunnathu. Try cheythu nokkanam. Pochampally saree is always my favorite.
