Ukraine has EVERY RIGHT to strike Russian refineries, since Russia has gotten around the sanctions and who is the US to tell them not to strike legitimate targets? Seems to me we owe Ukraine plenty, given that we signed the '94 Budapest Memorandum, along with the UK and Russia, to protect Ukraine's sovereign territory. We should be keeping our PROMISES, don't you think?

If Ukraine had been given the weapons needed from the start maybe Putins war would not have lasted this long. Ukrainians are paying with their blood to protect their people from genocide also Putin will not stop at Ukraine. Putin has stated many times that Russia is fighting America. America and the West will be saving their own people if they support Ukraine now.

I am ashamed of the Republican party - which I have supported all my life (I’m 81). Only some Republicans - like Gaetz, Greene, and Johnson - have been actively working to betray Ukraine like this. BUT, I’m also blaming the bulk of other Republicans who are ‘enabling’ the smallish Johnson cabal to stay in power. I live in Florida and my representative is Mario Diaz-Balart. He’s not part of Johnson’s group, but I still blame him for his part in allowing this pro-Putin travesty to continue in our Congress. I voted twice for Trump in the past. But NO MORE. No more contributions and no more votes for any Republicans. E V E R!! I am THAT PISSED OFF.

While what you say is true, there is more to this story. There is the White House security council, headed by Jake Off Sullivan, who is opposed to providing long range precision weapons to Ukraine, who opposes the continued flow of heavy systems to Ukraine - it is these obstructionists who failed Ukraine with their "trickle" theory of giving one tank each month - total cowardice and unreasonable caution while Ukraine is being destroyed. Then they talk about how Ukraine failed last summer's offensive, never mentioning that Ukraine has one arm and one leg tied so they can only provide a handicapped military.

I totally agree with you, I am a US citizen and I am totally ashamed that my government would even consider asking Ukraine to stop the oil refinery attacks. This is the best strategy they've had yet maybe because of the lack of ammunition they had to come up with other ways but either way it's working tremendously not only should they not stop they should double down and pick up the pace before Russia figures out how to protect those damn refineries 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

@@samsungtap4183 I draw your attention to the fact that Rosneft had to shut down two damaged refining units at Russia's largest refinery (Ryazan) - its main crude distillation unit, AVT-6, which accounts for 47.5% if the plant's crude intake capacity, and a smaller unit, AVT-4, which stopped an additional 23.4% of the plant's total intake capacity. Ukraine caused a massive fire in those distillation columns, causing damage which will take a long time to repair. The WWII attack you referred to (Operation Tidal Wave) was a failure for many reasons, and not really relevant in the context of modern warfare. Unmanned drones that could deliver payloads to precise targets were not a thing back then.
Nobody said anything about stopping Russia's energy exports - what Ukraine is successfully doing is slowing them down a little while causing massively expensive damage. Since you know about refineries, you know how expensive it is to pay for expert contractors and part replacements. The beauty of this is how little Ukraine has to pay to inflict those costs.

Reason why Biden & neocons are pretending it's about the weapons is to make it look like the Republicans are responsible for inevitable defeat of Ukraine. It's about Nov election. Hundreds killed in Bucha...

While America continues to fail to support Ukraine they have lost all authority to tell them what to do. America isn't failing to support Ukraine - that's Deranged MAGA Mike Johnson and his vile puppet master Marjorie Traitor Greene.
I don't think the US can dictate fuel prices - American oil companies have to let the market dictate prices since they can't legally operate like a price-fixing cartel ala OPEC+.
If Biden is actually pushing back on Ukraine using their OWN drones to attack Russian refineries, then he is being a massive hypocrite, and I would be extremely disappointed in him. Americans can deal with 5 cents more at the gas pump - that seems like a fair tradeoff for helping Ukrainians who are fighting for democracy and international rule of law on our behalf, while dealing with constant bombing of their civilians, electricity blackouts, abysmal economic conditions, etc.

    • @FromDesertTown

@@JimCoupeTQ Proximity isn't the issue, nor is oil. Europe has high energy prices now because they have to import natural gas that was being supplied by Russia before.
Oil prices in Europe aren't affected much by Russia - OPEC has the most control over oil prices, and they're not going to take orders from Russia. They're mostly interested in maximizing profits while occasionally causing supply gluts to damage American fracking companies.

The "price of gas at the pump" is a nerve that, if pressed, will cause the americans to howl.

    • @gregoryadair3223
      @gregoryadair3223 Před měsícem +1

@@Drufi The theory is that there would be a price shock, since crude prices are global. Obviously the US could pretty easily withstand that, and in the worst case Biden could use the strategic reserve to keep gas prices down at the pump. The refined fuels Ukraine is taking off line are for Russian use, so the theory of a problem with global reach is weak. Given US agency in readjusting the effects, it does not add up. I think all this hyperventilation about the White House telling Ukraine what to do, and "Jake Sullivan's un-announced meeting" are ea tempest in a teapot and not about anything. If you read what was said, it may be even less than US disapproval. Meanwile Ukraine has hit more targets, as they must, as they should, as if to politely point out to the whole world that this is how things really are.

    Two things imho.
    1. There is a very stark split in Washington between Democrats who support Ukraine, classic Reagan style Republicans (who are quitting rather than fight because of death threats!) and MAGA. Initially all were together and support was high. Ukraine made Trump angry when he tried to strong arm them into railroading Biden into a scandal and he’s long been compromised by the KGB/FSB since he tried to build Trump Hotel Moscow! The fear of escalation is a feature of Biden admin, it’s s active in Israel/Middle East/Iran/Houthi, it’s active in Taiwan, and its active in Ukraine.
    2. If you look at the military history of the USA, everything is done as more a trickle than overwhelming force. After WWII, it has always been that way despite an outrageous annual military budget.
Admittedly there is a LOT going on in the world, everything mentioned above plus much more and the US has a finger in almost every pie. The US is designed to be able to fight in two theaters at once but no more.
All of that mixed into one dysfunctional Congress and this is what you get. 8 months of delays. The annual budget passed halfway through the year, and nothing else. Well, an attack on secularism and an attack on women’s rights. That’s it.

Some countries like Spain and Italy are indeed playing cheapskate as you mention others literally gave the shirts of their backs like Denmark. In general we can say Europe is inept to help but USA is unwilling to help. Some countries in Europe don't have that many resourses to give but are helpfull in other ways. Estonia for example just found 1.5 milion artillary shells those will be payed for by the smaller EU countries. earlier this year the chechs already found 1 milion and they will be delivered this month. Shaman is a very popular, very pro-Putin artist.
