Fantastic ! 🌟
Thanks! 😊🙏🏻
Suomenlinna is a great place to visit.
The Finnish Naval Academy is located in the westernmost islands of Suomenlinna. So, there is both Naval past and modern Naval training on the islands.
The Paris peace treaty of 1947 banned Finnish navy from having submarines, so most Uboats were scrapped. But the smallest, and most modern one, Vesikko was kept in storage, and later turned into the museum.
Restoring and maintenance of the old fortress is done mainly by prisoners of the open (minimum security) prison, that is located on the main island.
Hi Paanikki, Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed the episode.
Yeah we are so happy that we visited Suomenlinna and would like to go back someday when we have more time to explore more of the island.
Interesting facts, I'm glad they managed to keep it as it's very interesting to see the Vesikko.
That we didn't know, a good idea and they must be doing a good job as the fortress looks great!
Thanks for your comment and the extra information.

Guys there are 3 major companies running ferries between Helsinki and Tallinn. Just Tallink has 8 ferries per day going to Tallinn.
Wow that’s a lot of ferries! No wonder it’s Europe’s busiest ferry line!
Thanks for watching 😎🙌🏻

Suomenlinna is very cool. One of the largest sea fortresses in the whole world in fact. The Finnish naval academy is also located there.
It really was cool!! We had no idea how good it was going to be. If we had more time we could have spent the whole day there. Thanks for the info 😎👍🏻

A nice summertime destination only
@@Kerppu68 it was getting a bit cold lol , but we still enjoyed it =)
Just the wrong time of year to visit. We get full snow during the winters and 25-30+ degree heat periods and green summers. If you want to visit again, I'd recommend early June or late May for the nature, but all summer for activities. Helsinki has a lot to offer all year around.
Great effort and safe travels.
Posting this at the evening of 28.11.23 in Munkkiniemi, maybe 4km North-West from the city centre and there's a bit of a snowstorm.
Hi, thanks for your advice. Unfortunately this was the only time we could get 4 weeks free to ride up-to the Nordkapp and back. But we were thinking that Helsinki would be great in both summer or winter -but we still had a great time in the rain 😁.
Wow it seems the snow comes in hard in the winter in Finland, it started snowing here in Switzerland but only at the higher altitudes.
Hope you have a great winter and thanks for your kind words and encouraging comment.

Frpm English adventure to Finnish tourist guides and you really made me want to visit Helsinki for the first time in my life. It looks so interesting. Great episode. 😊
Hi Johan, didn’t thing of it like that 😁
Helsinki is a really great city, lots of interesting things to see and the boat trip out to the island makes a great day out.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😎🙌🏻

Suomenlinna hasn't had an ice road since the 1980s. The sea ice around the fort is no longer considered safe enough. There are plenty of sea ice walking paths in other parts of the city though. When it's cold enough. The ice thickness is regularly tested by the city council.
Suomenlinna does, however, have an emergency access vehicle tunnel to the mainland.
Hi Christian, ahh okay thanks for clarifying that. Driving on ice would make me very nervous so it's probably for the better that they don't do that there anymore =).
Wow we did not know about the tunnel! That's really cool.
Thanks for the information and we hope you enjoyed the Video. Helsinki is a great city and we look forwards to visiting again.

Nice video guys - Helsinki does look fascinating.
Thanks very much! Yeah Helsinki is a great city for a couple of days with plenty to see and do.

yes - appears so, well done. @@SeanandEmily
Wow! a Ferris wheel that doubles as a sauna, you wouldn't want to be naked!! very interesting video (as always) you guys are just so well organised ✅
Haha didn’t think of that, it’s taking showboating to another level lol 😁
Nice ti hear from you and glad you enjoyed it 😎👍🏻
Nice video even you weren't very lucky with the weather this time. In the past have worked 8 years in the same block where the Kaffa Roastery that you visited in the beginning is.
Thanks, yeah despite the rain we had a good time. Oh wow what a coincidence, I'm guessing the Roastery wasn't there 8 years ago and if it was that must have been handy =)
@@SeanandEmily I'm not sure but I think it was opened there around 2010.
Another cool video and wait what to much coffee there is no such thing 😂 but pretty awesome city very nice
Thanks Jeff!! Haha copious amounts of coffee are reserved for riding days 😁 it’s a really cool city with plenty to do.
Thanks for watching 😎🙌🏻

Two coffees is a good start. Around number five the average Finn starts to consider whether they have had their daily dose or if the sixth one is still needed.
😁😁 I think if we had stayed a few days our daily intake would have at least doubled! A really cool coffee scene in Helsinki 😎🙌🏻
Thanks for watching

I hope you have a nice time in Finnland, and thank god you got out of Sweden and Norway before the ski season started . We will hate each other until the spring 😊
And Emily you should google pictures of Theodor Kittelsen.. Cheers 😊
We had a great time in Finland -so many unforgettable memories have been made here. Yeah wouldn’t want to snowed in 😁.
We just googled it, he’s a cool artist. Not sure if we have seen his work before but they do look familiar -would have made for a cool coffee table book!
Thanks for watching 😎🙌🏻

Nice place see very soon
That market looks great. Just love the hustle of a market.
ha, i was then about to ask if you are fueled on coffee and then there you are with tea!!
Helsinki looks a great place, I imagine its a particularly beautiful place when covered in the white stuff. You don't mention how much your food/drink cost - is it expensive?
Hi, yeah the hustle and bustle of the market was great and nice to get out of the rain 😁.
Well we had already had a few coffees by that point so as it was a none riding day Tea did the trick to warm us up 😊.
Yeah Helsinki is really cool, lots to do and see with interesting history. It’s probably best to go either in the summer or the winter but yeah it must look incredible in the winter -especially when the sea freezes over!
To be honest the prices were about the same as most European cities and less expensive than Norway anyway. Hotels were a bit on the pricey side (but we did not book in advance) and also parking was not cheap! You can’t park the bike on the pavement so I had to pay €30 for 2 days parking (although it was the same to park for a week lol)
Thanks for watching! 😊

@@SeanandEmily Thank you for answering that - always nice to know what sort of prices places charge. My gosh, 30 euros for a bike! 😲
Agreed on the coffee, as much as we love it, there is a limit to how much we need in one day🤣
Shame you weren't at the Motorcycle show at the NEC 😮💨 Would have been lovely to come and say hi.
Hi, You're welcome. We are finding prices in Europe are changing a lot -places where one used to get good value have flipped (Italy and Croatia for example is getting ever more pricey).
Hehe yeah i think 3 is the limit lol -unless it's a midnight ride =)
Yeah we really wanted to go but we had been to EICMA in Milan the week before (too many people) , i think we will make an effort to get there next year.
Also we are going to be touring the UK and Ireland next year so we might add a few biker cafes in along the way so maybe catch you both then.
Thanks for watching and always nice to hear from you.

I want to come finland
It’s a great place to visit!
Very nice video serie. I've watched them all. While watching there is one question.
How can you put all your stuff on your bike? I saw 3 hardcases, 2 bags. One on each side case and one big tankbag
You travel with a tent, cooking stuff, camera stuff, some extra motorclothing. Where do put you're normal clothes? It seems impossible to us.
We travel also by bike and have roughly the space as your hardcases but is it's hard enough for us to put our stuff for one week in those cases. And that is NO tent, NO cooking stuff, NO camera stuff and besides rain clothes and/or gloves NO extra motorclothing. Also for two persons
Hi, thanks so much for your comment and thanks for watching the series! 😊
Hehe sometimes we think we have magic panniers, it’s taken a while to get our packing down but I think
We are there. Not sure if you saw this video but here is everything we take and how we pack it 😎👍🏻

No whale sold in Finland. Gotta go to Norway for that.
That’s great news 😁🙌🏻 they were selling Bear meat though 😳
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed the video.
Have You ever heard of DARUDE ? He has a Video run thru Helsinki downtown - and He has done a favor to everybody - who has visited Finland ! 250 million People has seen the SANDSTORM - as The beat goes on - almost like at Beverly Hills Cops - with Eddie Murphy !
Just googled it and yeah we know that song =) Cool music video too -never seen it before. Thanks for watching
@@SeanandEmily Nice ! Did You know that DARUDE IS Ville Virtanen ! He has to use a nickname - Thanks to other youngsters & People with the very same name ! Note As lastname Virtanen IS The most common in Finland ! He IS on The Video - sitting on stairs - on the fence... just watching These People to run ! He came up with this idea - Born to Run - by Bruce Springsteen !
There is no whale being sold in anywhere in Finland. Well, maybe accidentally in tuna fish cans. The Baltic sea has only a small population of porpoises, not being caught. When a bigger whale is lost in North Sea they might wander to Baltic Sea, and it'll become news in the countries. Unfortunately it's somewhat a death trap - there's no food for them and the water is brackish, not truly saline - but fortunately this is a rare happening.
That's good to know. They are magnificence creatures =)
The railway station is not art deco, it's art nouveau. Especially the Finnish national romantic style of art nouveau.
Thanks for the information! Hope you enjoyed the episode. S&E
As a Finnish architect, I have to disagree with that. The original competition entry by Saarinen was national romanticism, but it faced so much criticism that Saarinen redesigned it in a more rational style. He never abandoned certain amount of decoration, but the station is no longer national romanticism or even pure art nouveau, even If some sources claim that. It does not quite fall in the category of art deco either. Soon after completing the railway station Saarinen took part in the Chicago Herald Tribune competition which he did not win, but his entry cleared the way to the modern skyscraper. He then moved to the USA where his son Eero designed several iconic buildings and structures, including the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Rather than looking back to history like national romanticism did, the Helsinki railway station is looking forward to modernism.
@@sampohonkala4195 I still would say it's more art nouveau than art deco. It's not pure in any sense, but if I had to put it in one category I would put it in the Finnish national romantic style of art nouveau. I think it's more like we have agreed it's this, even if it might be something else.
You will love Tallin, one of my favourite cities in one of my favourite countries, enjoy!
Hi Tony, yeah we had been looking forwards to visiting Tallinn for a long time -it’s looks incredible 😎.
