- Today I’m making up some old fashioned oatmeal it’s definitely one of our favorites to enjoy at breakfast time it’s thick but creamy with some delicious flavors going on and I sure hope you all make you up some it’s really delicious 😋....Stay blessed

Similar to how we make ours. In my grandma's technique it was important to have every grain separate and that's how I like it. We add the oats to water, stir, then pour off almost all the water which carries the loose starch, add some butter to prevent sticking, cover and bring up the heat until steam begins escaping, turn off the heat and let sit a few minutes, uncover and proceed. The oats are firmer and distinct, moist but without a lot of the sticky liquid that some old timers would recognize as wallpaper paste.
Grandma’s will alway be the the best they just had that touch of love they put into their cooking and baking ❤️
Looks great Donna! I still eat my oatmeal with milk on top too! This recipe is almost exactly like my granny made it for me when I was little. My grandmother has passed away God bless her, I am still trying to duplicate her oatmeal. I always pour regular milk on top with my butter. It is very close to grandmother's but I never realized that it was probably pet milk that she was using, like you just showed. Thank you so much for sharing great recipes and I can't wait to try this recipe to see if it was the canned milk was what I was missing all along. Thank you for possibly uncovering a 40 year mystery for me. LOL, I will be trying this for dinner tonight.

Looks delicious my mom use to use the pet milk on our oatmeal back when I was a little girl I'm definitely going to buy me some pet milk and try it out beings back memories . Instead of the sugar I'm going to use honey 🍯 I kinda got away from using sugar on my food . thanks for sharing ♥️🥰🍓🍎🍌🍏🍯

I'm definitely going to try this. It looks delicious! We were raised on grits, I've never made much oatmeal. Tried the instant didn't like it. I love oatmeal cookies so I know I like the flavor of oatmeal. I can't wait to try it your way . I know it would be delicious on a cold winter day.
