    So for the Rocky Mountain RRF, you book a plane ticket to “Fort Collins/Loveland CO (FNL)” what happens is you fly into Denver, and the airline has free charter buses 11 times per day between DIA (Denver airport) and the Loveland Airport which is directly across the street from the RRF. It’s an hour ride and a very nice bus with a bathroom and wifi. You can also Uber or rent a car from Denver airport if you don’t want to take a bus of course.

    My biggest problem right now with other manufacturers that more people need to talk about is it seems every new printer release is a paid beta test. At some point 3D printing needs to transition from a tinker hobby into a reliable tool straight off the shelf.
    Are all these new multicolor systems on a core xy good? Yes, absolutely. But until they can get you a high quality out-the-box seamless experience I'm not going to pay them much mind, even if they are cheaper. It's simply not worth the time and headache to save a couple hundred dollars.

    thanks for the video. Heard the FLSUN V400 which was a klipper machine wasn't really a full on klipper. One reviewer also stated the runaway thermal settings were set way too high to it wouldn't shut off = fire hazard = not good. I"m really interested in the S1 but when you fake install klipper, or at least a very old and outdated version that isn't being truthful with the public. Makes me wonder about the software side of FLSUN.
    I want my first fdm printer to work and not be a beta when released so a company can work thru the problems. Hoping Bambu makes a 350 cubed K1C XL and work out of the box. They have everything just need to make the K1C bigger and add a few more improvements to it and the AMS (seen a lot of folks complain about it recently).

    I wonder, what it's like to start with 3D printing currently? There's so many awesome options to start with! But seems like every 6 months even better stuff comes out. I've been giving some courses about 3D printing basics, and the most often question is "which 3D printer to get?". It's getting harder and harder to answer it without making a lecture of it...

    • @lajoyalobos2009
      @lajoyalobos2009 Před měsícem +1

      May or may not have been the "correct" way to get into it, but I got into 3D printing by buying a broken bed slinger and fixed it, upgraded it, and I am continuing to upgrade it beyond recognition. I went from knowing absolutely nothing to... well something I'm sure. There's a ton of info out there, if someone wanted to follow my methods, they could very well get a broken Ender 3 on eBay and do the same.

      Got asked that a few times in the last months. I arrived at
      1. decide if you want to have 3d printing in itself as a hobby or if you want the printer as a tool to learn cad design and use it to make stuff.
      2. if it is the latter buy an a1 when it becomes available again.
      If you need more exotic materials or want an enclosed printer and have the money p1s or x1c.
      If you care about open source and/or want to support a european company prusa mk4.
      If everything listed is to expensive:
      A used mk3s.
      And if you want to get into 3d printing as a hobby, building 3d printers and getting to know the ins and outs: ender 3 for cheap and prusa mk4 kit for expensive and reliable

    • @astrumrocket6556
      @astrumrocket6556 Před měsícem

      @@lajoyalobos2009 Yeah, that's one way to approach it. Do you want to learn about 3D printers? Buy a cheap one, you'll learn a lot! Do you just want to 3D print? Buy a Bambu lab or something similar, you won't learn a thing, but you'll get 3D prints.

    • @astrumrocket6556
      @astrumrocket6556 Před měsícem +1

      @@maxp4790 I start with "what do you want to print?". If you want cosplay parts you need something bigger, if you want figurines, you need a resin printer... Etc. Good thing is there are options, but I highly avoid giving direct recommendations. Ender 3 v3 ke is awesome! But won't be all that great if you want to print helmets. Building is also a great option, and it takes a bit to convince someone new to it, since it seems daunting, but I specifically bring a custom made printer with me, just to point out how one could do it.

    • @mikeb1596
      @mikeb1596 Před měsícem +1

      Any Bambulab printer depending on how much money you want to spend. Just getting started in 3d printing, an A1 or A1 Mini won't break the bank. If you are on a mission to eventually print more exotic and engineering grade materials, just get a P1 or X1 as the enclosure allows you to print PC and nylon.

    I've been waiting for a 300+ mm cube 3D printer with a rock solid extruder and steel motion control instead of acetyl V rollers for reliable higher volume printing of multiple parts. It sounds like that time is finally near. I don't care about multiple colors but I would like to print TPU and a rigid material such as PETG so I'd be interested in a dual extruder system is it was reliable and didn't make a ton of poop.

    The Qidi printer is a problem with the 220v system, NOT the printer itself. However EU and anywhere else that 220 is used, its live still for that heater, just is how its wired. In the US or anywhere using 120v, its inert and off when its idle.
    Note: Colorado is NOT "west coast" serving, hell it don't serve much of anyone unless your in the rocky mountains themselves. Really need a RepRap in like Portland or Eugene Oregon, that is something more "central" located for the west coast. Im not dissing the other companies but what is there to step up other than high speed printers, i wish Prusa and Creality would focus on more improved toolchangers, belt printers or what about metal 3D printers. • @logicalfundy
      @logicalfundy Před měsícem

      Well, Prusa does have a tool changer, and Creality has a belt printer. Prusa is very likely to refine their tool changer in future upgrades. Creality . . . will probably make more Ender 3 variants.
      Metal 3D printing is probably not a great option for a hobby machine, although I admit it would be cool. There might be some issues drawing enough current from a household outlet to make it work.

    • @krollmond7544
      @krollmond7544 Před měsícem

      @logicalfundy and that's what I'd love to see is metal 3D printing working in homes and affordable, non planar printing expanding into all slicers. Multi material printing put into belt printing. Instead unfortunately the competition this year is large, multi color fast printing.

    • @logicalfundy
      @logicalfundy Před měsícem +1

      @@krollmond7544 Non planar would be awesome - it would solve so many problems with overhangs.
      I'm actually curious what the big holdup is with belt printing - it looked like a slam dunk for print farms, but none of the largest farms adopted it. There has to be some hurdle to overcome there.

    • @crashingsux
      @crashingsux Před měsícem

      @@krollmond7544 I keep thinking non-planar has to come soon. Everyone is going to do multi-color soon, big enough prints soon, about as fast as you can get without noise or weakness issues, what is left I think is quality, and non-planar can do so much for domed top surfaces (as well as overhangs as you mention) that I think they need to have their engineers work a little less on the hardware and a little more on the software for a while.

      Still, it's a trusty workhorse for me. Almost zero issues with my X1C in the past half year.
      There are many unknowns about these other printers. I'll wait a year after release before considering buying. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any Bambu loyalty. Even more, I'll gladly switch to other another brand.
      The SOVOL-08 sure seems awesome and I'm very tempted but I'm still waiting for a 400x400x400mm or above enclosed 3d printer with MMU. And it should be as easy to use and low maintenance as a bambu. So I can just focus on 3d design. The print speed is not that important because as stephan from CNC Kitchen said, after 200mm/s, your print quality declines greatly.
