Two Genuine Kukris from Nepal Tested and Compared. KHHI vs Kailash Blades Micarta handles.

- This review compares two top Khukri Houses in Nepal and their offering in micarta handled Kukris. The Kailash Blades and Khukuri House models bushcrafted and torture field tested here are the perfect blend of modern and traditional elements of Kukri design. I use and chop with them, to test points of failure or weaknesses. We laugh, we cry, and in the end we dance if the viewers hang around that long. You'll see other favorite Kukri's in this video like Himalayan Imports, and the Bud K. I have many other Kukri themed video art available right here on the best worst EDC Kukri channel on CZcams. Kukri’s are NOT designed to take the place of a proper axe. It’s easy to test. Put a razor sharp kukri under appropriate magnification before and after the abuse.
Ooh boy. I’d pin this one if I didn’t already pin one.
Ok repinning.
They're not designed to take the place of an axe because axes chop better and are way safer. Nothing about the knife should make the edge any different after chopping compared to an axe though. Have you tried this with your khukuri and has a blunt or rolled edge afterwards? Because I can tell you ours hold up fine
Mr r Wong I'm sad to tell you your Wong.
You clearly don't know the pleasure of drunkenly swinging your kukri around in the garden for your neighbours to see, I deffinetly mean kurki...
that was the most epic batoning in the history of batoning
And I cut out several more minutes!
Advanced Knife Bro you deserve a Zima!
For the love of Uncle Randy, bring the gosh dang blue lines back !

I'm right there with you my man.
Absolutely.

I really want a clip of him saying this.
I wonder if he is a Carlin fan.
Haha love this
Fun fact, Lundin is another word describing a phallus. More correctly, a man’s lund and a woman’s cunt.
Hell yeah! Glad you like it and that it stood up to whatever the hell you were trying to do to that log.
Thanks so much for putting in the effort to make such a thorough and entertaining video.
I almost had a heart attack seeing you pop that point straight through the side of the sheath, it's such a common occurence that most khukuris ship with an infographic showing to hold it from underneath. They say a knife isn't truly yours until it bites you but khukuris tend to take ER requiring chomps rather than nibbles. One of many great reasons to go with a stacked leather or kydex sheath for a user.
You notice any difference in grip between the two handles? The resin and fabric we use to make our micarta makes it a bit more flexible and textured than mass produced stuff., though I'm unsure of khhi's source and it might be similar.
If anybody has any questions about our knives or khukuris/ nepal in general feel free to reach out and help as best I can.
Take care,
Andrew and the team at Kailash Blades
I prefer the slightly tougher grip of the Kailash. A polished grip has its place- but I don’t think choppers and fixed blades are the best use for it. No problems with slippage.

Batoning with the determination that only a man stuck in quarantine with a young child can have.
I never knew I needed to see duel wielded kukris. But now that I have, I can die happy.
First Milla Jovovich made it look good in resident evil, now AKB swoops in and refreshes it for 2020
I love waking up an listening to classical music while a bro swings large knives an destroys fire wood. Another great vid👍👍
Social distancing is not a problem when you slap one of these kukris on your belt.🧐
Missed joke opportunity. HMHIS (hanging my head in shame)
You’re easily my favorite reviewer on the Internet. Such a talented hard working smart ass. Lol. My hero.
Thanks too for the bonus choreographed content at the end. I was clapping along with each blow of the Kukri/baton
Man, I love that you don't worship your khukri. You got them to use and that is what you do. I appreciate that. Do you think if you actually bought them that you would treat them differently now that you have reviewed them? You have become my favorite watch. Syncing up with opera doesn't hurt either. Did you lose a scale on that last batoning? Thank you for daring to make this video even with all the AHs out there.
I bought my Kailash Scourge and beat it up. I’ve beat up more expensive knives than these. I try and treat them the way their meant to be used
YES! We get an operatic montage. These are definitely when we see your best work!
KHHI has a US Depot that is shipping. Just ordered one and shipping is confirmed for tomorrow. Looking forward to much jackassery with it!
Cold Steel has a $35 Kukri.... once you buy a Cold Steel Kukri.... You will NEVER buy anything else. Of course they have them for more also. I have several of them. I buy nothing else.
@@redfaux74 The Large Luzon is one of my favorite jackassery knives. I'm sure their Kukri makes the grade.
This is the best knife channel I've seen, bar none. Keep it up and thank you.
this was more than I ever thought I needed to know about kukris, but yet watched it all the way to the end
I’m with ya!
As your love of kukris propels your prose to prodigious heights, I eagerly anticipate these reviews. You do yourself proud, Mr. AdvanedKnifeBro.
Only just found your channel, I'm liking your review style. I'm also a big fan of the kukri and I'm also waiting on an order from Nepal, a couple from KHHI.
Never have I seen a man baton a full fifth of a tree. Now I understand how you became THE Advanced Knife Bro over us more plebian and disgusting peasant knife bros. And by that I just mean you're better than me I don't actually own a Svord Peasant knife, though they seem like a decent really cheap knife. If you're reading this and want to know more about the Svord Peasant knife, watch the Advanced Knife Bro review! But anyway great video my dude!
Superb commentary as always. Thank you
I adore your channel - you crazy insane mad man!
at the 13min mark when you were done...I thought how can this go for 4 more min....I was so happy to see you get through that log! Great vid bro!
That part at the end was for the diehards!
Love my kailashblades socket bowie got it probably 3 years ago with the performance grind it's a absolute beast
Hey there Jacob!
Glad to see it's still treating you well :)
Solid review as always. I think im going to order one!
Dude, I just found your channel, your hilarious! I love the reference to Sling Blade the movie. I only have one Khukri, but I love it. I believe the company I bought it from the Khukri House, It's the Afghan soldier model (I probably got the name wrong). My sheath also has a mis alignment, but after lots of lubing, and use it's starting to feel much better.
That’s a great video... great editing.. great.... great dialogue... awesome stuff. Hah I loved the ending music 🎼👌
Gotta love Megadeth
i bought a basic windlass kukri not long ago inspired by your channel. It is my first kukri i really like it!
The classical batoning at the end... aces. 👌
Thank you for helping me know what to say to people when they ask why I like Kukris
I have a new favorite CZcams knife video series now, thanks.
I love seeing reviews like this and damn it if I don't love that dry humor of yours.
I think khukuri were never intended to be used like that (maybe I'm wrong?) and I don't intend to do any of it myself, but knowing they can go through that absolute hell is a real confidence booster that my money will be well spent!
Dude, I've been looking forward to this one. As ever, not disappointed 🔥🤙

Thanx for filming
That batonning session was AWESOME! I've been subscribed since your Ganzo days (albeit under a different name). Glad I'm not the only one who's made drunk kukri purchases. Grain Belt is how I ended up with my Condor KTACT Kukri. I completely understand "cottonwood hell". That shits tough! I've even seen log splitters fail on cottonwood. Where I live, cottonwood is one of the most common trees. That's no easy task to split them with kukr'si! Congrats on the Deadlock™!
I use my Kukris in the yard and do a lot of brush clearing and vine chopping. I have a KHHI jungle and a Kailash Limbuwan. Both handle everything I use them for, the Kailash is just nicer and the engraving and copper work is outstanding. I don't chop wood so I don't find the need for a full tang.
Hey there! I don't think there's many chitlange seeing yard duty so it's good to hear yours is treating you well :)
I need one just so when I get pulled over for leaving my house, I can take it out and say, "If I wasn't going somewhere ESSENTIAL, would I be carrying THIS?" ... I feel it's inarguable.
they dont argue, theÿll just pull the trigger 15 times . a side effect of the khukri blade shape .
Ha ha thoroughly enjoy this one. You sir, have gained one more subscription and a two thumbs up (an extra thumbs up for the batoning at the end).
Great Video!! Dawn Patrol should've been playing in the background LOL
Nice, I sharpen kukris the same way. It is pretty easy with the sharp maker rods, or even Lansky ceramic rods. Don’t have a Kailash yet, but I am tempted with all their options. I like how they are now making kukris with thinner spines, now.
It's the best way to sharpen a khukuri for sure. If you're looking for any guidance or info on our khukuris, hit me up!
Take care,
Andrew

Again about 1.5 min in my 2nd video from this channel and have to comment that I now know I was meant for this channel after the Megadeth comment! I know I can trust a man that has such great taste in metal.

New sub here...I like your style mate. Your knives aren’t too bad either. I like my Khukuri, they’re a very effective blade. I’ve got one coming from KHHI Nepal to Australia. From the pictures I’ve seen, it’ll be worth the wait.
I've used my Panawal Khukuri to fell 3 decent sized trees. Used it to baton a whole cherry blossom tree too.
They're not an axe, but will work like one in a pinch.
Amazing! Great to hear your blade is still treating you well and handling whatever you throw at it :)

Great to see you, bro. Thanks for the entertainment. Always enjoy your fd humor.
You're awesome. No drugs or alcohol influence here. Great entertaining video
Thank you, Sirrah, for acknowledging your Rennfair followers. Huzzah!
I bought a heavy duty camera shoulder strap and made a baldrick by using a carabiner clip through the belt loop. I now hang the Kukri over my shoulder. I don't feel the weight at all now, and I even forget it's there, and because it's a baldrick it sits high up tight to the body (although you could hang it lower if desired). If you wrap the entire handle (including metal top and bottom) in camouflage hockey-stick tape right down to where the actual blade starts, you can create an amazing looking weapon (I personally don't like the original bling look) and it gives it a non-slip grip. I wrapped parts of the sheath in tape too (near the top and over the bottom metal protection bit) to give a really great coordinated military look. Combined with a lightweight Mora knife you have everything you need.
We're coming around to the baldric style too :) Expect some more varied carry styles in future from us.
Fantastic! I love the way you love kukris, and recommend that you try one or nine from Tora Blades. I think you'd appreciate them.
I have just stumbled onto my new favorite CZcams channel.

There was a lot of energy that went into this video! 😂 lol. Cheers Mike.
your music choice is perfect
I saw this video months ago right before buying a Khukuri, originally was gonna drop 260 for a custom one at KHHI but this video steered me to Kailash Blades and I got a better knife for cheaper. Thing is awesome and holds up to work extremely well.
10/10
Thanks so much! Glad to hear you're enjoying it and I hear there's a new one on the way as well ;)
What one would you recommend with a 12" to 13.5" blade?
@@Thor7 depends on what you use yours for, also I don’t think an inch and a half difference would really affect any of the stuff we use khukuris for. I’m hacking at stuff, maybe take a rubber mallet to it if it’s a little thicker (above six inch diameter I just use a saw or axe) . To be honest I’d recommend emailing the metallurgist/designer/customer service guy Andrew at Kailash he knows heaps more than me. Imo if Youre on the fence buy a twenty dollar khukuri from sportsman’s guide, use it till it breaks, and imagine it heavier and more well made and you have a great idea of what they make. Slainte
You are a good dude. For a poser fudd... I have to say I was entertained and look forward to the next one!

I have a small Kukri addiction too, and make no apologies. My nicest ones are from Kailash, and they're worth the money and the wait IMO. I've got cheaper ones too, and they're also worth the money. It's all relative, and they're all awesome because they're all kukris.

Stay safe and healthy, Mr. Bro dude.
I love khukris. I own I Tora Blades one as they make only authentic designs which includes true weights, balances, and blade geometry. On the other hand, I use parangs and golok machetes way more for yard chores and clearing out hunting areas then anything else. You really can't go wrong with a Condor parang or golok. They can take beatings and do the same amount of work as a khukri but cost is very affordable.
Tora is on the list. Need to pony up and get one
Tora is the way to go for the 'real' deal. My feeling is that the other Khukri houses as they call themselves are smart people tapping into the market. But once you compare their output to the traditional stuff, you will know... Not that it is all bad, it's different. They aim for the armchair survivalist to put it rudely. Guards, sawbacks, whatever they have it. When you start lookig at the more recent videos of the production, you'll notice the difference too. It's still all rather primitive, but cutting to shape and stock removal was something not really seen in the past. I'm no specialist on the matter but I have 1 Tora, 2 Khukri house and 2 different models from the Nepal Garisson find. And is there a difference.... a huge one actually.
- I did Bando, Burmese martial arts, taught by a real Ghurka. My Kukri experience started with knives from Nepal, several of them. After Dr Gyi started engaging with Cold Steel of course I bought the Kukri from them. You will NEVER buy another Kukri from anyone else after you buy a Cold Steel Kukri. Cold Steels $35 Kukri blows them all away. And they make much better Kukris as I'm sure you know.
Hilarious video and yet informational with a touch of satire. Resplendent.... I just found your channel. I'm hooked.
It was very satifying watching all that chopping mate. Be carefuk when you are swinging the two together , like anywhere else in life ;)
Bubba, my vigorous love making was hindered a bit after watching this phallic raising production of yours which I enjoyed almost in its entirety. But the painful lack of blue lines in the size shots hurt me so bad that my wife asked me “what’s wrong darling” during our tender encounter.
I was kind enough not to blame you. You’re welcome. 💔
PS: the soundtrack of the last 3 minutes was also used in the making of the above described event. May the french long live and prosper! ❣️
