The Kailash Pensioner Kukri Review. A near perfect (ghurka) khukri?

  • For those of us looking for our new favorite EDC (EDK) Kukri. The Kailash Pensioner Khukri is just about perfect. Made in Nepal out of 5160 Carbon steel with a hidden tang, this is one of the lightest and stoutest kukri blades I've ever had the honor of beating on wood with. Also if I said 5150 steel in the video, I misspoke it's 5160- no one's perfect. Not even CZcamsrs. In this video internet art film I compare the Kailash to other popular and not popular kukris like: the Zombie Tools Vakra, the Kailash Scourge, the BudK Indian cheapie, and the popular Himalayan Imports Leaded Kukri. Check out Kailash's website below where they make all kinds of practical and slightly fantastical Kukris, bowies, machetes, and large bladed lawn swords. Orders take about a few weeks or a month or two to produce, and they're shipped from Nepal.

Finally a review by the knife world's Most Prominent Sh!tposter
    Some Notes:
Gentleman's Corrosion is going on the website somewhere and no you will not receive royalties
The big log batoning is hectic but totally safe for the blade and gets the stamp of approval. With this said though the 2 handed grip/ embedded log chopping that's up right after the patreon is truly asking for it a with a rat tail.
In this configuration all the force of the swing is concentrated onto the transition between tang and blade (the weakest part), with the larger blade and handle giving a lot of leverage. More force is going through that area than the actual log. If you need to do this try and do it with as loose a grip as possible when the log actually impacts so the weight of the knife drives itself through. Everything shown in this video is actually currently covered under warranty though, but getting a new knife forged and shipped out is a pain in the arse and better avoided.
Alternatively get a full tang version and Release the Beast
All in all though an awesome review. Thorough, informative and funny. Really excited to see what you think of Scourge Anniversary.
    Cheers!
Andrew and the team at Kailash

I fixed the steel mistake in the comments and subtitles, before the video was released. It was something I caught after upload. Oopsie!
I wouldn’t recommend doing anything I do really in this video. It is more for entertainment than for purpose. I was kinda asking for it with a rat tail tang anyway. Thanks again man- I really love the Pensioner- and will treat it more like a machete in actual use. I just don’t have a lot of branches or bamboo I can hack off around here.

You need a giant sling shot shaped stump so you can baton the handle and the tip of your Kukri at the same time!
