Kailash have three options for their cutting edges. If you select their standard option the blade is usually a little obtuse for my taste. Their performance edge is quite good though. Good video! Great Gurkha Khukuri are well known for sharpness out of the box. Kailash sometimes need a bit of stropping to really show their edge properly and in my experience there is at least one time I've needed to use a stone. But their heat treatment is usually incredible.
@@Bowbro69 I generally recommend both. Both can do micarta handles though Kailash has more experience there. Kailash do kydex and I've yet to see any kydex from GGK. Both oil quench. GGK do their own damascus in house. It really boils down to what you want to do with the blade.
@@D4571n good afternoon mate 😊 I’ve tried the standard and performance grinds and depending on how you use the Khukuri depends on the grind. If you plan on a lot of batonning do the standard grind. I prefer the performance grind myself as it can do more knife stuff. Granted it’ll stick in the wood more but I usually only cut up to 4 or 5 inch diameter woods so it’s no problem. I usually only do heavy batonning in my videos as I prefer to make wedges for splitting if I’m needing to split a lot.
@@sundogforgebydml1050 hey thanks for ur fast answer👍 yeah the 4 or 5 inches thick ones seems to be enough, so i will also go with the performance grind. thanks for your help👍 i just saw that you have a lot of vids of kukris etc. i subscribed your channel and will watch your vids. have a good day👍
Beautiful Kukri from that company. I was wondering about ordering from that company, now after this video I will definitely order from them now. Must have been a horror show for the chickens on the ground to watch you chop their dead mates in half hanging from the tree. 😆😅
I love kukris and watching things get chopped, however it was a tad macabre of you to chop those chicken carcasses on from of the roosters. I'm assuming they don't cause too many problem mowamy
I love the way you just out of the box start battening and splitting wood and that really can test an edge. Nice work, do you prefer an 11" blade over a 13" blade for outdoors type work with Khukuri's? So far the 13" blade is the only size I've owned but have thought about getting a shorter blade. Kailash looks like a fine khukuri maker. I like the fact that its oil quenched also.
@@TheNessmuk Hey mate. I’ looking at that one. Please, tell me, does it has a secondary bevel with performance grind, or is nice convex until the edge with no visible line ( same as MK1 is, if I understood well)? It’s good also for chopping, considering it’s lighter? It would be great a review of HSI, or maybe you already did one? Great slashing in your reviews mate.
Yes the DUI Chirra or double fuller Khukuri in performance grind has a secondary bevel. It will cut beautifully. Yes the HSI video is up 11.5” blade with performance grind!

Chipped on me and the tip of the blade broke off in some branches I was chopping. But it has a nice feel and I’m considering getting more of their work, none of the issues couldn’t be fixed and you may have better luck with horn than wood, keep it oiled, I imagine in Kurdish heat the horn will drink a fair bit of oil.
Hello miss Shelley ! My khukuri needs good sharpening too! Timber handles can be fragile especially the martial design khukuri you have. Because you’re tip broke you should contact Kailash Blades’s and explain what happened. They should replace it for you! If you order another ask them to test it before they send it to you.
@@TheNessmuk actually is Mr, not miss, I did contact both times, they were not interested in replacing them, said I should glue up the wood and resharpen the tip, I think they exaggerate how tough they are, I don’t abuse my tools-on the other hand they make nice looking stuff so I’m going to probably get another one.
double chira models seems to be a thing with kukri people. Seems to feel different from the single hollow forged type blades? 'see you going HAM on the yard targets. Guess they don't stand a chance.
Kailash blades give you the most custom options for the build of your khukuri. I love them! KHHI are well priced and good. And then Tora! Traditional and beautifully made! They do cost a bit more.
@@TheNessmuk many thanks for the answer. Was the standard grind not suited for your expectations or are you ordering the performance grind just for trying?
The standard grind is durable and performed well. I do want to try the performance grind as I'm sure it will cut well. It is on a service issue khukukri that is going to be my work blade
Hello sir , I know all are best but which of your blade is strongest solid kukri that destroys ? If you can take one with you on a trek for a month in Brazil lol which of your blade would it be?

Love how you have a vice and chopping stump on your porch! I have a porch in Texas, too! Carry on brother… seeing this two years late, but very good.
Thank you Joseph ! There are several other videos on my channel to watch also about Khukuri. Stay safe mate.

11” light n fast 12.5 is my favourite and Kailash Blades are modern and awesome!
Hey Douglas sorry being late to your reply! Bloody busy mate! Kailash Blades Awesome!
The HSI from Kailash Blades is 11.5” mine is with the Performance grind and horn handle. It performs beautifully in the bush!

You have a nice collection of Khukuris. How many do you now have between you and Ruby. I'm also a new subscriber.
Hey Daniel how are you mate?! We have nine khukuris now and more coming! Ruby has a favourite and I love em!
There's a tradition of Khukuri, after opening it you have to donate some blood on it, believe it or not but it's truth
I believe you Mr Great it is a Nepalese tradition or a Gurkha tradition. Lots of respect to them!

@@ShelleyRaskin Which model kukri did you get from them?
Nice 👍
Hello, could I ask you a few questions...which grind is better, the Kailash or the GG Fast Khukuri? Thank you for your help
With the Kailash blade I think the performance grind is awesome. The GGK super fast is a great design by Purna Darnal it cuts beautifully
The kailash blade that I tested has a standard grind it is durable and strong. The super fast from GGK cuts like a laser

Hey mate how are you? This blade is brilliant it cuts great! I took on too many bottles though! Poor form not the khukuri!
