    Two things. 1. Never draw the khukuri holding the sheath the way you did. You should hold the sheath from the spine side and never from the blade side when you draw. 2. The camerawoman was directly or slightly directly in the direction you were swinging especially when you cut the 6 bottles. Please keep safety in mind.

    Gotta say I'm a big fan of GGK I have a sirupate. I love it. Soon as I get a few dollars I want the 12in super fast kukri. His grinds and fullers are works of art.
    What people don't realize is how well those GGK are made. They are not thick slabs of steel. They are very well designed. It is hard to believe until you hold one. Not to mention how fast mine came from the other side of the world.

      @pennsyltuckyreb9800 Před 7 měsíci

      This particular model is more of a fighting/hunting khukuri. It has a fine, convexed hollow grind edge right after the large fuller.
      It's an absolute lightsaber but you might want to be careful doing heavy chopping and batoning of dead hardwoods and resinous pines. The edge might chip out a bit for that kind of work.
      You want more of a "farmer's khukuri" style that has a thicker than 6mm spine and fatter/stronger edge geometry.
      GGK has a wide range of models. Personally, this is my favorite because of how quick, sharp, and light it is. When I'm out in the mountains, I always have my rifle on me, I don't want a particularly larger and heavier khukuri on me. Lighter is better.
      If I plan on heavy chopping and splitting of dead woods, I'll make sure to bring along a tomahawk/hatchet/small forest axe in my pack. If I'm down deep South US, it'll be my 24" Tramontina machete along with the khukuri.

    GGK Khukuri was one of the sharpest knives I have ever received from a maker.
    Will it stay that way? Probably not given the steel, but it was a laser beam.

    • @EVILAKUMA
      @EVILAKUMA Před 2 lety

      Why won't it stay that way compared to others ? Just curious

    • @danielcluley870
      @danielcluley870 Před 2 lety +1

      @@EVILAKUMA Because it is made out of softer steel and won't have edge retention. This is often a good thing for a primarily chopping tool, such as a kukri. It has more toughness but less edge retention, so it is able to chop hard wood without getting damage such as chips or similar to the edge. You just have to sharpen it up over time.

    • @EVILAKUMA
      @EVILAKUMA Před 2 lety

      @@danielcluley870 so what steel is best on kukri for chopping trees and hard objects and still stay sharp ?

    • @danielcluley870
      @danielcluley870 Před 2 lety +3

      @@EVILAKUMA This question is impossible to answer as it is always "it depends".
      Generally speaking a good "carbon steel" with more toughness is used for Kukri, as it has benefits of toughness that is desired. Often 1075 (such as used on Cold Steel or Condor tool blades) is an excellent choice, but will need to be maintained to prevent rusting and pitting, as well as sharpened frequently. For other chopping knives, 1095 is a bit harder and will need to be sharpened less frequently, but could chip easier, depending upon heat treat. For a "super steel" CPM 3v is a great choice for a knife used primarily as a chopping tool. M4 or 4v are also often used and will be harder and retain edge longer, but less toughness.

      Dont distort history. Never in the history Himalayan region North of Ganges was occupied by Muslims or Alexander. Alexander was able to control Afghanistan and Pakistan. No any fights occurred between Greeks and Himalayan warriors North of Ganges.
      Warrior from HIMALAYAN REGION took part in GREAT MAHABHARAT WAR 5000 years ago...
      so Neither KHUKURI derived from KOPIS
      Nor GURKHAS derived from GREEKS..
      Don't spread misinformation..

    Its the national weapon of Nepal mainly used by Gurkhas, Armies from Nepal, the land of Mt. Everest. Your kukri seems to be made for outside country. It looks good but may not durable as you think. The forged khukri made by local people are the real khukri…..I have few but still one is special because its was used by my grandfather in daily basis like cutting wood, bones, bamboos, and sometimes chopping Goat……it is still looked fresh and believe my grand children will use it………I promise kukri made by local villagers will last till you see and breathe

      To the unknown guy I respect your opinion however the fast khukuri blade was designed by Purna Durnall and made by GGK Nepal it is a fine blade and cuts very well! It is durable and it will last! There will be more testing that I will do and I have found it cuts beautifully! Thank you for your opinion!
