Rare Marcos Mantara LM600 + OnBoard at Monza Historic 2019-2020 - 600Hp BRUTAL V8 Engine Sound 💪

- I had the pleasure of filming this rare Marcos Mantara LM600 (chassis ECH03308.02.02) during the last editions of the Monza Historic 2019-2020. I've to be honest, I knew the car, but I had never seen one life, and so I've to thank the WRS team (Wassermann Racing Services) and the driver Alexandre Leroy for being very kind by letting me film it and allowing the onboard you see.
The car is beautifully presented, completely restored from top to bottom, both the mechanical part, therefore the engine, gearbox, chassis, suspension, exhaust system, etc. and the bodywork repainted and decorated with the same livery as when it ran in the hands of the legendary Dutch pilot Cor Euser. Specifically, this model participated in the FIA GT championship from 1999 to 2006. Mantara LM600 models started racing since 1995 in different series such as the BPR Global GT, the FIA GT, the British GT and the International GT Open. Currently, the specimen you see regularly participates in competitions in the Endurance Racing Legends category organized by Peter Auto. The engine has a crazy roar; it's a 6.0-Liter, small block, naturally aspirated Chevrolet V8 LT1 engine developed by KMS Racing Engines and capable of 600Hp. To move it a 6-speed Hewland sequential gearbox; the mass of the car is shallow, thanks to various parts in carbon fibre it's around 1,000 kg.

Ho avuto il piacere di filmare questa rara Marcos Mantara LM600 (chassis ECH03308.02.02) durante le ultime edizioni del Monza Historic 2019-2020. Devo essere onesto, conoscevo l'auto ma non ne avevo mai vista una dal vivo e devo quindi ringraziare il team WRS (Wassermann Racing Services) ed il pilota Alexandre Leroy per essere stati molto gentili nei miei confronti lasciandomela filmare e permettendomi di realizzare l'onboard che vedete.
La vettura si presenta in modo splendido, completamente restaurata da cima a fondo, sia la parte meccanica, quindi motore, cambio, telaio, sospensioni, impianto di scarico, ecc sia la carrozzeria riverniciata e decorata con la stessa livrea di quando correva nelle mani del leggendario pilota olandese Cor Euser. Nello specifico questo modello ha partecipato al campionato FIA GT dal 1999 al 2006. Modelli di Mantara LM600 hanno iniziato a correre dal 1995 in differenti serie quali il BPR Global GT, il FIA GT, il British GT e l'International GT Open. Attualmente l'semplare che vedete partecipa regolarmente alle competizioni nella categoria Endurance Racing Legends organizzate da Peter Auto. Il motore ha un ruggito pazzesco, si tratta di un Chevrolet V8 aspirato LT1 da 6.0-Litri, small block, elaborato da KMS Racing Engines e capace di sviluppare 600cv. A muoverlo un cambio sequenziale Hewland a 6 rapporti; la massa della vettura è molto contenuta, grazie a diverse parti in fibra di carbonio si attesta intorno ai 1.000 Kg. i will never ever forget the sound when 2 lm600's were driving together around brands hatch, i dont know if it was the cars or where we were stood at the beginning of the main straight but together the sounds made an echo which honestly still haunts me to this day, it was like the sound was stretched and echoed like a starwars pod race it was the coolest sound ive ever heard!

It was ever present in GT racing in the late '90s usually piloted by the flying Dutchman Cor Euser. I was lucky enough to see it racing maybe a dozen times all over Europe in various championships. Fond memories.
Your memories are correct, I was not lucky enough to see it racing in its era, but I'm happy to know that this car is back to compete in the Endurance Racing Legend by Peter Auto category 😉👍

This is my favourite GT racer. I remember watching this car race at Silverstone. The whole stand shock as the car rumbled past, accelerating out of the final corner. Mental.

V8 roarrrrrrrr... from the cockpit you see the airbox of engine top mounted its awesome
I went inside the cockpit to install the action camera. I was looking at that big Air-Box and I thought that any pilots driving this car must be doubly good because that bonnet really steals so much space from the view 😱
The best part is that it doesn't look like any other car ever
And not so many car manufacturers are directly from production line customer

Mighty car another car to look out for is LISTER STORM GT with a Massive 7.0 engine
I agree I would very much like to film a Lister Storm model, but I must say that they are like whiteflies and even in these revival races for Endurance cars I have not yet seen one.

I've to be honest, I knew about this car but I had never seen one on the track, it was like a unicorn to me. I was therefore very happy to be able to film it. As for the engine, absolutely yes, it sounds like a real wild V8 💪

That looks like the Gillet Vertigo car from 2,004 from Gran Turismo 5 or 6 I believe. I want to keep on seeing group C cars and if you have the chance show us the early 2000s prototypes. The cars go BRRUMM BRRUMM BRRUMM!
I have a lot of video material regarding Group C cars. I'm not ruling out soon some videos about it. I remembered about the Gillette Vertigo, you're right, another very rare car to see. It would be nice to be able to film one, but I have never seen any in the Endurance Racing Legend races that I take part in. Who knows if some team will field one in the future.

Grazie Alberto, anche un'altro ragazzo mi ha scritto la stessa cosa, sono felice che molti di voi si ricordino ancora della Marcos. Per inciso, anche in queste gare revival la LM600 sfila via le Porsche come un tempo. Ti dirò, a Monza ho parlato con il proprietario di una rara TVR T400R che avrei voluto molto filmare, chissà se il prossimo anno ci riuscirò, anche quella sarebbe bella da vedere 😉

@@alberto_davoli Eh lo so, ma chi le vede quelle auto, non sono rare, di più! 😂 A Monza doveva esserci anche una Renault Spider V6 GT1 che non è venuta. Fra le auto inglesi da filmare aggiungo anche la Morgan 8 GTR, ma stesso discorso di sopra, praticamente invisibili.

Ich finde eher der erinnert an eine Viper. Das Motorkonzept ist aber wirklich spannend, wie ein vor dem Fahrer platzierter Mittelmotor. Klang ist aber wirklich gut..
Ich denke, die Lösung "großer Frontmotor und Hinterradantrieb" ist immer noch gut, obwohl die wettbewerbsfähigsten Rennwagen den Motor in der mittleren hinteren Position haben. Zusammen mit Autos wie Saleen & Viper hat es sicherlich den verrücktesten Sound.

I have always been intrigued by Marcos cars, but have as always felt that they chose the wrong engines. This one is cool but a Ford engine would have put it over the top. I love gear whine! Just needs another 2K revs.
I can't tell you; I don't think it's a wrong engine; on the contrary, it seems to me that everything is working well. I have a trained ear, and I don't feel the lack of further engine revs, I can guarantee you that on the track with 600hp and 1.000kg of weight you can fly in this car...😅👍
