  • I had the pleasure of filming this amazing Porsche 935 k3 Kremer Gr.5 during the 2020 Monza Historic. We have to thank the pilot Jean-Marc Merlin and all the guys from Team Equipe Europe for being very kind to us and let to install an onboard camera during the test session. This Porsche was born as a customer car and was sold at Gelo Racing Team with chassis number 930 770 0911 who raced in 1977 season at DRM championship, at Le Mans and with the driver Rolf Stommelen won the Nürburgring race. The same year the German team sold the Porsche to the Italian Jolly Club team which ranks the win at the 6H Vallelunga race. After a couple of years of use, it came to the Racing Associate team where it won the 1979 Daytona 250 miles. The following year it was rebuilt with K3 specifications, the chassis became 009 0005 with the red Coca-Cola livery driven by Bob Akin. In 1981 it passed from the hands of the Cooke-Woods team which took it victoriously to the 12h of Sebring driven by Roy Woods, Ralph Kent-Cooke and Skeeter McKitterick. In 1982 with BP livery the Porsche finished fifth at Le Mans. For homologation reasons, it's brought back to Group 4 specifications and runs several years in the United States. Back to compete in Europe in the Classic Endurance Racing category managed by Team Equipe Equipe, Initially with Coca-Cola livery and for the last couple of years with the historic 1981 blue livery with red/gold finishes of the Cooke-Woods team. Speaking more generally, the evolution of the Porsche 935 in K3 specifications that you see on the track is the work of the intuition and experience of the brothers, Manfred and Erwin Kremer. They developed the evolutionary version K3 equipping it with a real aerodynamic kit consisting of a completely redesigned and profiled front and a revised rear area, equipped with huge aerodynamic wings. The engine switched to 3.2-litre displacement with two KKK turbochargers. In the races of the time, at a pressure of 1.4 bar the car guaranteed around 750hp at 7,800 rpm, while for qualifying, by raising the pressure to 1.7 bar, around 800hp could be obtained at 8,000 rpm. In the video you see the car runs at a Turbo pressure of 1.25 bar. Produced in 13 units, among the triumphs of the 935 K3 models we remember the victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979. I have to thank my friend and CZcamsr ‪@19Bozzy92‬ with whom I collaborated to realise this video. Enjoy!
    La vettura nasce come auto clienti e viene venduta at Gelo Racing Team con numero di telaio 930 770 0911 il quale la utilizza nel 1977 nel campionato DRM, a Le Mans e con il pilota Rolf Stommelen vince la gara del Nürburgring. Lo stesso anno il team tedesco vende la Porsche alla scuderia italiana Jolly Club che la schiera alla gara 6H di Vallelunga, trionfando. Dopo un paio d'anni di utilizzo viene venuta al team Racing Associate dove conquista la 250 Miglia di Daytona nel 1979. L'anno successive viene ricostruita con specifiche K3 ed il telaio assume la numerazione 009 0005 con la livrea rossa Coca-Cola pilotata da Bob Akin. Nel 1981passa di mano al team Cooke-Woods che la porta vittoriosa alla 12h di Sebring pilotata da Roy Woods, Ralph Kent-Cooke e Skeeter McKitterick. Nel 1982 con livrea BP arrivò quinta a Le Mans. Per motivi di omologazione viene riportata a specifiche Gruppo 4 e corre diverse anni negli Stati Uniti. Torna nuovamente a gareggiare in Europa nella categoria Classic Endurance Racing gestita dal Team Equipe Equipe dapprima con livrea Coca-Cola e da un paio d'anni con la storica livrea in blu del 1981 con finiture rosso/oro del team Cooke-Woods. Parlando più in generale, l'evoluzione delle Porsche 935 in specifiche K3 che vedete in pista sono opera dell'intuizione e dell'esperienza dei fratelli Manfred ed Erwin Kremer. Svilupparono la versione evolutiva K3 dotandola di un vero e proprio kit aerodinamico composto da un frontale completamente ridisegnato e profilato ed una zona posteriore rivista, dotata di enormi appendici aerodinamiche. Il motore passò alla cilindrata di 3.2-Litri, sempre sovralimentato con due turbocompressori KKK. Nelle gare dell'epoca, alla pressione di 1,4 bar la vettura garantiva circa 750cv a 7.800 giri/min mentre per le qualifiche, alzando la pressione ad 1,7 bar si potevano ottonere circa 800cv ad 8.000 giri/min. Nel video che vedete l'auto gira ad una pressione del Turbo pari ad 1,25 bar. Prodotta in 13 esemplari, tra i trionfi dei modelli 935 K3 ricordiamo la vittoria alla 24 Ore di Le Mans nel 1979. #porsche935k3 #monzahistoric #equipeeurope

      @@upsidedowndog1256 I see that in America there are completely self-built and elaborate cars that here in Europe they could not even go out in the driveway, perhaps your laws allow you to register special cars or as unique models.

    Ciao Matteo! Quanto mi piacciono i Gr.5. "Peccato" che la Porsche 935 si sia fatta fregare un titolo costruttori dalla "piccola" Lancia Beta Montecarlo in un modo banale.. Vuoi che la storia te la racconto qui o sul video di 19Bozzy92?

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  Před 3 lety +1

      Ciao Yuri, come vuoi, da quel che ho capito la storia riguarda entrambi i marchi e quindi la tua risposta andrebbe bene sotto entrambi i video, scegli dove preferisci 👍

      @@Italiansupercarvideo La storia mi pare che risalga al 1979. Nel Mondiale Marche c'era la Porsche che vinceva il titolo nella prima divisione con la 935 Martini Racing, mentre la piccola Lancia Beta Montecarlo lo vinceva nella seconda divisione. Il geniale dott. Cesare Fiorio escogitò un piano.. Fece ri-alesare di appena 0,6mm un motore della Beta così da doverla iscrivere nella prima divisione in sede di verifica. Verso fine stagione schierò la Beta, (nominata Black Jack per via della colorazione nera con fregi rossi), in un paio di occasioni nella divisione 1 per andare a prendere punti anche lì. A fine anno la Lancia vinse il titolo assoluto costruttori, e il conte Rossi di Montelera, proprietario del marchio Martini, decise di abbinare i propri colori al marchio Lancia perché questa idea del D.S. Fiorio lo lasciò basito, e volle premiare il genio Italiano. Penso che questa sia una delle più belle storie del Motosport..

      @@YuriBruschi Storia bellissima. Come sappiamo nel motorsport, anche moderno, c'è sempre chi pensa come aggirare i regolamenti oppure sfruttare quelle zone "grigie", mi viene in mente per esempio il DAS nelle attuali monoposto Mercedes nella F1. Quello di Florio fu davvero un colpo di genio, comunque altri tempi 👍

    I like it, I like the way it looks. To this day it's grandson; Porsche 911; is racing like it's 1,979. I didn't know they had Coca-Cola livery back then, I think we have a 911 with Coca-Cola livery, or was it 2,019? Anyway, the cars go BRRUMM BRRUMM BRRUMM.

      Yes, this car had the Coca-Cola livery it raced in the early '80s. In recent years I have often filmed this car, and it was always red. Only in 2018 was it again brought back with this beautiful Cooke-Woods team livery. Here you can see another video that I realized with two of these models, and one of them had the coca-cola livery: czcams.com/video/ofJlf-NOOdY/video.html

    The Porsche 935 is one of the best sounding race cars of all time in my opinion! Yet it hurt my ears and frankly ruined the entire video for me when I had to hear Jean-Marc Merlin not heal toe downshifting this beautiful race car! It's not that difficult but everyone should know this very basic task that ALL race car drivers learn in their early days. Just a disgrace to what should've been a great video
