- This video is about a beautiful Porsche 935 K3 my friend @Italiansupercarvideo and I recorded at Monza Circuit during the 2020 Monza Historic by Peter Auto. We have to thank the driver of this car, Jean-Marc Merlin, and the French specialists of Equipe Europe, who manage the car and were so kind and available to let us put an action camera inside the cockpit.
The car you see in this video is chassis number 930 770 0911 and it left Weissach in 1977 in customer 935/77A specs for Georg Loos' Gelo Racing. It was used during 1977 in the German DRM championship and at Le Mans. At the end of the DRM season, 0911 was sold to Italy where it won the Vallelunga 6 Hours. The car remained in Italy throughout 1978, now prepared by the famous Jolly Club team, and recorded a superb 2nd overall finish in October’s six-day Giro d’Italia Automobilistico, courtesy of drivers Carlo Facetti and Martino Finotto. Jolly Club’s involvement continued into 1979, starting with preparation for the Daytona 24 Hours and later the Mugello 6 Hours. The car was sold mid-season to aspiring Floridian IMSA entrant Charles Mendez.
In 1980, 0911 was sold to Roy Woods’ Racing Associates team and was upgraded to Kremer K3 specification. The car was duly re-numbered 009 0005, and reappeared in that year’s Daytona 24 Hours featuring a Coca Cola livery and driven by Woods, Bob Akin, and Bobby Rahal. The team’s focal point for the year had been the Le Mans 24 Hours in June, where Akin would share the car with Paul Miller and Ralph Kent-Cooke, although this would end in disappointment once again with axle failure after 237 laps. Newly renamed as Cooke Woods Racing for 1981, the car returned to Sebring in March where, driven by Woods, Kent-Cooke, and McKitterick, where it finished a magnificent 2nd overall.
In more recent year the car used to be raced at Peter Auto's historic events with a red Coca-Cola inspired livery, but recently if was freshly repainted in this amazing evocative 1981 Sebring livery.
The car is now up for sale at the upcoming Monterey auction by RM Sotheby's.

IMHO, one of the sexiest race cars in history.
Totally agree, Artagain
and it is for sale! auctioned off by Rm Sotherby @ Monterey. www.classicdriver.com/en/car/porsche/935/1977/852804
Yes, what a butt
And sounds decent too!
Me: it's 4:30am, I should probably go to sleep
Bozzy:
I swear, Bozzy's videos are more HD than my own eyeballs.
Yes! Isn’t it the weirdest thing?! It’s like info overload. There’s SO MUCH DETAIL
My dad is watching this video instead of making us breakfast...
Sounds like a proper dad
Make yah own damn breakfast boi
give him a like from us :D
Je ferai pareil, regardes bien cette auto, ça n'existera plus jamais....
Exactly what I'm doing
That bark as it down shifts ... then sucking in the big ones as he upshifts ... inspiring stuff.
shit that onboard sound got me smiling wide, what a monster...cars wont be like this ever again, so sad.
You can just buy an old car xD
And I bet the boost was pretty much down….
I bought myself an old GT3. It is so much fun to drive. I want that time to last forever….
@offright2 i did not, i like V12s but to me, nothing will ever sound as good as analog boxer.
that turbo sounds........pure art
Beautiful machine, I remember these ... So excellent! No other manufacturer could keep up back then, Porsche dominance👍
Une époque formidable, avec des voitures très rapides 🙂
My gosh that flame gave me a full smile 😊
Knowing a bit on how mechanics build a car and take great pride/love in their work ,the Pilot/driver is really the Master who runs/drives the orchestra with his feet and finger tips...
I've had the very fortunate gift of a father that started taking me to Sebring, and many other great sports car racing events since I was 5, in 1959. That would put me in my high school days to see these amazing cars. Loved the 917's, but these things were just plain wild to watch, hear, and feel!
Aww man, I'm in my late teens right now and I just love cars like these from 20 years ago and up, the sound matches their wild looks, and the physics make me feel like a guy (I'm a guy)
Definitely one of the best sounding race cars of all time.
A Porsche flat six sound + turbo + gearbox whine defines a perfect kind of ASMR
What a ride Bozzy! Thanks for taking us along, take care.
You're welcome! ;)
6:22 when you must cope with an opponent equipped with a flamethrower ! Thank you Mister Bozzy , another masterpiece !
A new 3 day old 935 K3 video, what a wonderful surprise
Gosh I love that car, such an intimidating beast !! Thank you Bozzy and Italiansupercar ! Amazing work with Equipe Europe !
Thanks as usual, mate!
Me: *getting breakfast ready for my kids*
Bozzy: *posts this*
Me: "You can wait, boys."
Your a man with his priorities straight
Dad, I starved up here
Ahahaahh
Good man. I am watching while making dinner for me. My Kids are grown up, so no need to watch after them 😁
Out of this world amazing 👏 🙌
Goosebumps!
Mr.Bozzy, your videos are «kick ass»!
Thank you👊
What a joy to behold this beautiful beast of yore! Driver is excellent: relaxed and smooth. Even double clutching it was tough getting into 1st gear. (I heard a few 'expensive sounds'.)
The fourth to second shift was a thing of beauty! Thank you for the video!
Amazing car and footage thanks for posting!
Thank you! You regularly post some of the best vintage 935 vids on CZcams and I’ve been waiting too long! Amazing sound quality. Next time more footage of the full engine warm up please.
Thanks for your comment, man!
If only current 911s sounded this good
When men were man and race cars were race cars. Thank you! You made my weekend! Aloha!
What r u talking about my good sir? I'm thankful to be a guy, dude, boy, comrade, pilot, Johny King; I just made that up; but you know what I mean...
Don't let the media trick you. There still plenty of *men* out there. Myself included.
@@Super_Smash_Dude men do what is right in the eyes of God, being a man means taking full responsibility for our actions PERIOD.
@@juanpablocastano2192 Massive agree. We need more men that does not make decisions based on their feelings, but based on what is right.
Amazing video. The 935 has so much grip that the driver is able to lift in the turns. Another point from rebuilding the air cooled engines is that the oiling and main bearing support of these engines were baked right into the design in the early 60's. Just spectacular engineering that allows these engines to live at high RPM's lap after lap. The fast that those early engines were then developed into this kind of performance is just mind boggling.
This is why we love cars!!
Absolute monster, love those flames!! Amazing machine and great video, thank you!
Fantastic car and I also think Merlin did a wonderful driving... to control all that power!
Beautiful Porsche, the sound and the feeling of the car is astonishing
Great in car footage!
I have a picture of this car I took at Sebring years ago. The color scheme on this Cooke Woods car was stunning. It also had some serious gitte-up
Bozzy...thats a German super car...on a Italian super track! 🤘
Amazing!
Awesome stuff 👍🏼😎
Great video, thank you!
Oh God, I miss the magic of those old cars. Much more enjoyable then todays F1 or touring cars. 👌🙌😍
I can hear this all my life 💪💪💪
There were some new camera angles being used here! NICE! Epic Video
To be honest: I love the 935 since the late 1970th (since I first heared the sound).
In 2021 I'm still a petrol head. Because of this I still love this car - and this video of course... :D .
I think that the car I've ordered early this year (a GR Yaris) will be my last carbon driven one. But I think I'll love this and I'm nearly sure that exactly this car may be the last one I've ever loved.
(1000(+1) thanks for uploading this video...)
How can you not love this video, an entire video dedicated to the 911? Thanks for posting
Thank you for watching!
Concerto for 6 cylinder in turbo! Wouhaou!
Absolute beauty.
Great video, Bozzy! I watched 935s race at Riverside Int'l Raceway in 1979 - what a beautiful sight (and sound). I forgot who won the race (Whittington Bros?), but the driver of the race for me was Peter Gregg. He had suspension issues while he was leading and went off course in the Esses. He was in the pits for a very long time (30 mins?) and he came back and finished in 6th. When his car #59 showed up on the leader board the entire crowd in my section in Turn 6 went nuts! He was the fastest driver out there.
Big turbos,big fun
800hp+, high torque, no TC, manual transmission, 2 turbiskies. Damned if I didn't loved this car
I seem to recall Road and Track recording 0 - 125mph in under 8 secs and 220+mph, back in the day
What a magnificent machine and an awesome video by 19Bozzy92 👊😎
Thanks!
Oh man, crank some
More boost up on that fun knob!
Is that what the big silver knob is inside? A boost controller? That’s awesome!
I TURN ZEE BOOST ALLLL ZEE WAY UP!!!😁😁😁
Nice man!!!!!
I'm the breakfast waiting to be cooked and this guy is watching this video making his kids wait to eat me.
That shot at 7:03 wow
Very cool.................... 👍🙂
Grandissima AUTO
Old school power....nice
nice car
La bête de Stuttgart 💪🏻🤩, elle avait fait le holeshot au Mans devant la Rondeau en 83....➡️➡️
So quick
850hp on highest boost, should be quick
I want to see this beast race in the german DRM revival series where it belongs. Against the Capri and others.
Meravigliosa
It seems like they did not use the full turbo pressure, on the other hand I respect the non existing death wish of the driver. This looks sick enough and he is doing a pretty good job!
Honey wake up! Bozzy posted 935 onboard footage!
You can't imagine how much Kodak color film was shot just to get one photo of a flame. (this was WAY before digital photography)
The real Porsche
Great video, wish I knew how to capture the sound for Assetto Corsa!
The big silver knob !!!! I TURN ZEE BOOST ALLLLL ZE WAY UP !!!!!😀😀😀😀🚘🚘🚘🚘🏁🏁🏁🏁🍺🍺🍺🍺
What Master regulates with that big aluminium knob at 1:36?
I can’t imagine what it would be like to drive this for hours on end during your stint in an endurance race
Also, I like how the exhaust is like another brake light
I remember these cars at Sebring, it was incredible to see the absolute pounding these cars would take! Hour after hour, they just took it! Standing at the Hairpin, they would come in with all the brakes lit up, as the fire belched out the back...I will always remember those moments of life!
I can't imagine either, if they look gorgeous in a video I can't imagine how it would feel to see them personally IN THE NIGHT. I've never been to a Le Man race but I was in a drag race with muscle cars
Modern cars have nothing, compared to this!
I know a guy who owns a Porsche 911 from the '70's, it's a beautiful machine, now usually cars are just objects, BUT, this 911 will make you have feelings for it xD
Can u shift gears directly from 4th to 2nd or 1st ?
looks like a regular manual, so should be possible, but why would you want to??
You can in a race car like this.
I guess 1st would be pretty hard, all the others no problem. Just have to watch that you are not spinning out because of a blocking rear…..
Only four forward speeds, wow. I'm kidding when I say this of course, but I would trade a kidney for a drive in this amazing car.
It's a beautiful car no doubt about it, but aren't you going to need your kidney to live?
💟💟❤❤
1:45 , I TURN ZEE BOOST ALLLL ZEE WAY UP!!!!😀😀😀😀😀🏎🏎🍺
Doesn’t like heal & toe or even rev matching on the downshifts for some reason 🤔?!?
You know, this is the 2nd high-end vintage race car I've seen on this track where the driver doesn't know how to rev-match. It just goes to show you---> You can have money, but it doesn't mean you have talent... I'm guessing the car has clutch changes pretty often. haha
It seems to me he's doing rev matching. Every time. Because the car doesn't hit the rev limiter as soon as he taps the throttle on downshifts (like it horribly happens on 'our' sim racing games with throttle sensibility at 1000%) it doesn't mean he's not rev matching. Look at his right foot and hear the revs increasing just before he releases the clutch...
Isn't that the same model of Porsche purchased ( I use the term purchased very loosely) by the Whittington Bros for a Lemans victory?
Yes sir
What do you mean my good sirr?
@@juanpablocastano2192 The car was purchased for 200,000 in cash from American drug smuggling brothers Don and Bill Whittington to win LeMans in 79 or 80..I can't remember.. fascinating story
@@JohnCompton1 wow, you do know drug smuggling is wrong? It's very wrong, I can't believe... it's not a good thing that it was bought by them if this is true
Old school
This is a track day or an actual race for historic cars?
An actual racing weekend for historic cars, organized by Peter Auto
Oh that air cooled scream.
So this is what he did before Seinfeld
"Jerry I'm a racecar, okay?"
What see classics bug on track is that track hunted
I don´t wanna be first gear in the box 😥😅
Great videos! Great sounds! Thank you so much! ... but am I the only one here to be shocked by the idiotic face masks that were mandatory at the time? I don't think so.
What Ferrari F40?!
This big toy is no longueur available in store :/
