40% of kids, grades 4 thru 8, regularly communicate with strangers online, opening the door to manipulative predators, traffickers and pornographers. Internet safety expert Donna Rice Hughes shares how past sexual exploitation in her life led to her pioneering Internet safety efforts, exposes the reasons for the exponential escalation of the online exploitation of children, paints a picture of a safer Internet that prioritizes childhood innocence and empowers parents to be the first line of defense. "Donna Rice Hughes, President and CEO of Enough Is Enough(SM) (EIE), is an internationally-known Internet safety expert, author, speaker and Emmy Award-winning producer. She was a key figure in birthing the Internet safety movement nationally in 1995, and became the voice and face for the prevention of Internet-enabled sexual exploitation of children in America.
She has given thousands of media interviews, testified many times before Congress, served as a Senate-appointed Commissioner on the Child Online Protection Act Commission, and won many awards for her advocacy.
Most recently, she produced and hosted EIE’s Internet Safety 101 Program and Emmy Award-winning PBS Series, led EIE’s ""Safe Wi-Fi"" Campaign resulting in both McDonald’s and Starbucks filtering WiFi nationally; and spearheaded the bi-partisan Children’s Internet Safety Presidential Pledge, Governor’s Pledge, and State Attorneys General Pledge. " This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

This is so very crucial - there are so many scammers and predators and schemers out there - not just for children, but the elderly. Big corporations have a duty to put the safety of children first and make that their number one priority - no excuses. Thank you for this very important talk!
