Very relevant indeed. Specially more so in the new world of metaverse and immersive technology, these issues need to addressed together with tech providers and the community.

Powerful presentation Jim and I would like to think many people will listen to your words and think about ways to safeguard our vulnerable children. Let's hope that the government will step up to the mark too and indeed the advertisers and programmers.
I am disgusted to learn that the game Grand Theft Auto is such a perverse influence on children. This needs to be looked into and the companies who permit these games to be published to be given the strongest advice not to go ahead with any more and to cancel any more sales of this game. I had no idea how bad it was and wonder if many parents do?

Thanks, lets hope they do. I spoke at their party conference on these very issues so hope they follow up as promised.

Online safety is one of the greatest problems of our generation and it is an unpopular opinion to say it out loud. Either people downplay the seriousness of the issue because there's not a huge business potential to solve it or they're just waiting for government regulations. Online businesses who have bad actors on their platforms will not take action against them beyond the bare minimum because they don't want to risk lower profits. The view count in this Ted talk proves how indifferent people are about this issue. I do not want to raise children in an environment full of online safety risks and will work to do something about it.
