- Sabrina is a survivor of sexual trauma with boots-on-the-ground experience fighting sex traffickers. She knows all too well that hearing about kids and sexual predators is scary, and it's easier to turn away and say, "It won't happen to my kids," than to be uncomfortable and listen. While the atrocity of human trafficking is global and growing, we still have a chance to join the fight. Start at home and empower your kids with the basic knowledge they need to stay safe online and prevent predators from infiltrating their world. Sabrina hopes you tune in and pay attention; your kids' lives depend on it.
Sabrina, a former President of Colorado Springs Downtown Toastmasters, obtained the Impromptu Speakers and Distinguished Toastmasters Awards. She spent 25 years traveling the world building partnerships as a Global Business Development Manager for software companies including Microsoft and IBM. Her corporate presentations expanded to Improv Comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Stand-Up Comedy in the Roaring Fork Valley, Colorado, and local theater. In 2021, She became the first domestic Project Manager to fight human trafficking with the non-profit, Love Justice International. She trained to be a Human Trafficking Transit Monitor at Alaska’s Ted Stevens International Airport and managed a team of 16 volunteers to join the fight. She gained deeper insights at The Alaska Department of Public Safety in the Sex Offender Registration Unit where she provided advanced paraprofessional support. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
Thank you for an excellent, articulate, CRITICAL presentation to our kids and parents everywhere! Neighbors, friends.....everyone needs to be on the lookout and do their part to protect our children. On this subject, it truly does take a village.
You are so right! Together we can make a change. Thank you for your support.
This is such important work you're doing Sabrina, I think people massively underestimate the access children have to all kinds of online platforms and the dangers within each one
Even on SCHOOL computers!
I am so incredibly excited for the world that you have this message out here. You are INCREDIBLE I am so proud to say i know you and shared a stag. I adore you and your messagr is so potent and so needed
Thank you, Jacia! I'm so anxious to spread this message! I am grateful for you!
A very important message, well presented, thanks for getting this talk out there!
Thank you, Nick!
This needs to be shared, wide and far, I am sharing today, thank you!
Thank you for your support!
This is so important!! Thank you for your work in this incredibly difficult topic. This will make a difference
This message will change a life. What a gift to interview you on my podcast to really dig into this topic. Thank you🙏
Thnk you, Monica, for supporting me AND the fight!
Great presentation. Ears Open!!! Big deal. I heard my granddaughter at 7 talking with someone in her bedroom and it came through the Alexa device. She had only been in the room about 15 min. People MUST talk with their kids and extended family. Keep them SAFE!!! Thank you for putting this together!
You are so spot on!
I am so proud of you. You knocked it out of the park.
My honor to share your message.
Thank you!
Growing up today is very different to what we experienced, especially growing up 50+ years ago. I think we should talk openly with our children and grandchildren to help them understand there are still outside dangers, even when you're at home
This should be seen at PTA meetings across the country!
From your comment to God's ears!
Knowledge is power and educating our children to protect them from"online predators is an extension of the "stranger danger" topic.
True! And today the strangers are on the screens in our hands.
So powerful! Thank you for your advocacy on this important subject!
Bless you for the good work you do!
I smiled when Sabrina said our only worry was to be home when the street lights came on!
Simpler times!
This is definitely worth sharing with every parent I know, thank you Sabrina for putting this out there.
Thank you for your support!
The take home message for me was it's easier to "build strong children than to repair broken adults" [7:39 minute marker]
❤
I think a lot of this comes down to making your children feel valued and connected. It's a lot harder to form a connection with a kid who isn't lacking in attention and positive interactions
You are absolutely correct! If we know our value we are less vulnerable.
It really is worrying how quickly children are growing up these days, and all the things they're exposed to that we don't even know about.
You are so right.
Yes, this is truly important content! I don't think parents understand just how prevalent this issue is.
Yes! Thak you for watching. Hope you'll share.
Wow!! Fantastic! As a survivor myself, I truly and deeply appreciate this and the work you are doing!
You are so strong, Rebecca!
@@sabrinalovesjustice many thanks. Your support means so much to so many of us! 🙏🏼 So grateful.
That was a very informative presentation. Well done! Trafficking has always been a worldwide problem. Now with our borders wide open, it is literally flooding into our country.
You are correct!
I couldn't help but get emotional around the 3:15 mark. It's such a sad fact about our world today.
Very true and in Anchorage the indigenous women are vulnerable.
Excellent and informative presentation!
Thank you!
40% of kids having been asked for bare photos is such a shocking statistic to hear.
Truly!
I totally agree! 😱
Her story is so shocking to me, I know stuff like that happens everywhere but I guess I just had a more idealized perception of years gone by.
Me too! I had even buried my own story.
"your parents don't understand you but I do" is just so disqusting.
It makes me boil!
I can't help but think that even if kids these days were safe enough to be outside unsupervised - would they even have the imagination to be able to play all day?
Kids have creativity until WE keep them inside in front of screens.
I was shocked by the statistic at the 6:30 mark. Which platforms are allowing that to happen??
ANY platform with messaging. Roblox, Telegram, all gaming systems.
Her story makes me feel like these women and children who are groomed must be kind of lonely in order to allow a stranger in like that, right? Like a person who has a strong support network and fulfilling relationships is surely far less likely to fall into that kind of trap.
You are correct! Kids need to know their VALUE.
I am the second person who watch this video ❤
Pretty shocked by what she says at the 5:40 mark, especially when chiIdren spend hours every day online.
I seriously wonder why kids need Internet access on their phones.
