- Since I'm still waiting on parts for my MX2000 Supermoto Build, I decided to start modifying my MX350. I'm trying to find out how much power the factory 350W brushed motor could handle. In this video, I'll be showing you how I over-volted the bike and added a larger sprocket to increase the top speed. Here are all the parts that I'm using for this project:
The Build List (As of this time):

Just going to say it. Freaking AWESOME Dude.
this video inspired me to upgrade my sons sx350 and boy did it make a difference. twice as fast! did not do the sprocket because i wanted him to keep the torque. thanks!
Glad it helped!
@@PatOutdoors I noticed you didn't install a step down converter for the headlight. Is it necessary?
I just took a grinder to the output shaft 😂😂 popped right on there 😅 other than that did the same thing and I love ripping it around town. Building my gf a 2000w 650 atm ❤
Why do you guys not show play by play what you’re doing, I don’t understand. It might be simple for some guys but for the rest of us we just need play by play exactly what you did because fast forwarding doesn’t help the rest of us.
Because he's not doing an installation instructions manual. Never claimed to be.
Because it’s super easy? If your just starting to do things like this, this is a really safe overvolt start, I literally just swap the stock batteries to a 40v greenworks battery and call it a day. Much faster and my son loves it.
@Cheaphorsepower hey man I'm looking to speed up my razor quad it's 24v, so i really don't gotta upgrade the 24v motor to run 40v? I don't wanna break the thing bc it works great as is just slow ya know
I towed a boat with my one. Small aluminuim trailer and boat. Was at 2am to my local marina. Its custom as now and i cal it the karen wrangler
Ive modified one of these i found at the dump and put a car battery and a smaller atv battey and small quad bike seat. The throttle is simply a on off switch so all or nothin. I am gonna buy another battery tomorrow to make the 36v for this. My handle bars extension is made of 2x4. Screws everywhere. Fake grass panels. spokes lighy up amd draw shapes when driving.
Be careful discharging unlike batteries this hard good luck 👍
Great vid! love your videos
Glad to hear it!
I have a 2000w kit with 52v battery and yeh she goes
Have mine with the extra 12v on a switch, and wired in after esc. Kinds goofy buy I have normal speed, off, and high speed using the switch. But on high speed the motor gets the 12v from the extra set with no throttle, then the full 32 on full throttle. Can actually ride it on flat pavement with just the 12v
So you added 12v after the speed controller, wired into the yellow/blue motor wires?? I've been trying to figure out how to add a "turbo switch" of sorts for my kid, but the controllers are all either 24v or 36v that I can find. You are doing this with the original 24v controller? I appreciate your help!
i have the same controller but idk how to put the on and off switch could you give me instructions
can i have a line for the adaptor for the batterie to the motor and other stuff
In your opinion, where is the best place to order parts for this razor m? X350.
How did you you sloder the battery to the controller
What did you use to modify the small sprocket?
What’s the bray wyatt instrumental your using called?
Nice build! What wires from the controller did you use to go the the on/off switch?
Please rewatch at 02:36 and 08:30 , I just reused the original on/off switch to complete the circuit on the "key lock" connector on the MX650 controller.
The motor connector melting is normal because I have a mx650and the sand thing happens
Can you show step by step how you solder the battery
Do u have any mx650 factory motors and speed controllers for sale
Did you wallow out the motor sprocket to fit a 10mm shaft? I have an 8mm I wanted to use and never thought of this.
Never mind i see now
How do you think your 2000w kunray would perform with 36v? It would be cool if you could make a video, of you undervolting it. It would be for someone like me, a guy that can only buy one thing at a time. Then we could see what you can do with stock voltage.... yeah, on second thought, sounds kinda boring, now that I hear myself saying it. I like more voltage. I hope your battery shows up soon.
I don’t think it would turn on actually. The controller has a voltage cut off at 41 volts
@@PatrickKasilagcut off 41v he put 36 :)
@@gabrielhardmusic8669 the question was referring a 48v 2000w kit, not what I installed.
I did a mx650 36v controller a 36v 20ah 35A bms lithium battery and it lasted all of about 10 miles of use and was able to hit 20mph, i do believe tho that the destruction of the motor came from my littles short running it and not letting the motor het much air flow, that said imma put my old 650 motor on it soon amd semd it haha
Might as well run a larger sprocket too if you're gonna send it!
I hit 22mph on my mx350. 36v battery over volted on a 350 motor. With the 36 fast scooter module.
Wow ….. 💯
How did you connect your headlight on the mx500 controller and you think you can add a brake light
I didn't connect the headlight to the controller. I wired it to its own switch and source of power (Please watch the next video for more details.) I have not done a brake light yet, but I'm sure you can wire it through the two wires that connect between the brake lever and controller.
Do a scooter build like the razor E300 with motor and battery upgrade
Lol that involves buying another scooter. My wife would hang me. Gotta be one of the ones I already have
I’m curious on the mx350 does the frame seem to be built as solid as the bigger razors or does it feel cheaper? If it’s built the same it should handle an adult rider no issue just don’t wanna see it crumple under you while riding it. It’s definitely got more power already though !!
Honesty it does feel a bit cheaper. I certainly wouldn't suggest doing jumps on this bike as a full grown adult weighing over 170 lbs. But I'm still gonna send it. It also one has ONE brake, for the rear and it's drum.
@@PatOutdoors the mini death machine ! Haha that’s my type of build right there. Can’t wait to see some rides on it !
working on mine now. I aint't scared...
Just got both my kids these bikes but they both want more speed and longer battery life out of them would this built everything you got do the job or is there a different set up I should look into
The stock batteries are awful for battery life. What kind of range and speed are they looking for? Lithium battery alone is pretty much same cost as the bike, depending on size
I ordered all the parts show and the on off switch for my sons bike is on the top not the side and I can’t figured the wiring out too save my life. There are three wires from the 650 controller that plug into the battery hookup but there are only two wires coming from the battery. Do I need too add a toggle switch or something? I hope what I’m asking makes sense.
Did you ever figure it out?
On the light bar does it come with a cord? If not what is the cable you need to buy.
It does not come with a plug and play cable. It came with about a foot of wiring attached, then I just made my own harness and switch to wire it to the power source.
how are you charging the new battery? the old charger for stock 350 has different pin/connector right?
The matching charger that came with the lithium battery. You can only charge it with a lithium specific 36v charger
Just a larger sprocket reduced torque at the benefits of more speed? My son does mostly off-road stuff so he probably wants the 11 spoke right?
I would suggest leaving the original sprocket on in that's the case.
Hey I'm trying to mount my light bar. I can't get a good shot of how you mounted it. Did you have to drill a hole in the bracket?
I didn't have to drill out a hole. I used the hole where the white plate originally mounted (since I completely removed it.) Mine is also an older version of the bike so it may be different from yours if yours is newer.
@@PatOutdoors well I ended up drilling a hole in the bracket. The light bar sits right up against it perfect and using the stock bolt, well I had a black one the same size with an allen head. Thanks for the info.
mine is older as well. Just not the older I would like to have with suspension.
I put a 36v 1000w motor on my son's mx350. Overvolted with a 48v lithium pack. The thing FLIES with him on it. Hes 40lbs. Hits at least 30 mph. 11tF and stock rear.
Nice!
I took a old 650 motor I had laying around and put it in a 350. U should try it!
Your MX650 MY1020 motor had a bracket on it?
@@PatOutdoors had to make a custom bracket for it to fit.
Did you need a longer chain with the larger sprocket?
No, stock chain
Hey I rlly need a response to this, how do you install a double D sprocket to it, when it takes single D
Production changes every couple years. You need to look at the shaft on your motor and confirm if it has one flat spot or two flat spots. Double D = two flat spots ; One flat spot = D sprocket (exactly what it looks like)
I over volted my 350 with a 1000watt controller on 60 volts. It was doing 28 29 with 167lbs rider .
Then it was overheating so quickly that way .. I added a split the motor leads and mounted a second motor in line and it's nasty. Does even get warm with the power split still the same speed but double tq
Sweet!
I have two of these. One for my daughter and one for me. What should I order specifically to make mine last longer and faster so we can ride more together? I’m 190
To ride longer, you need to cram a larger capacity battery in there. The MX350 has very limited space though.. you may be able to do a 14AH 36V battery though. The SX500 would be most ideal for a full size adult and has PLENTY of room for a large battery, easily fit 30AH (which would last for at least 1.5-2 hours)
Raion Power 12V 18Ah Replacement Rechargeable Battery for Expocell P212/180 - 2 Pack.
I have these on my 350 and they last forever.. I charge using a 12v motorcycle plug hard wired with alligator clamps to both batteries with the fuse out and charge a 12v 36Ah system.
Could you explain how I would just add another 12v battery to the 24v?
You can’t, no space for another lead acids battery. Must go with one solid lithium 36v battery pack
kinda late but i am looking to do a build like this myself and am wondering if the 350 has enough room to mount one of those 2 or 3kw bldc motors like you have in the 650?
You mean an MY1020? May have to drill some holes on the mount base to get it to line up the the frame, but I don't see why not. Just a matter of fitting a battery that would support it.
@@PatOutdoors helll yeah man, i figure if one of those 2kw 48v motors could fit i would be able to take off the bottom plastics move the controller and then have a pretty good spot to slap in a good set of batteries maybe get crazy and try to fit 72v for the 3kw lol ty for the quick reply.
@@MrJaysniping Bro careful lmao. Just finished my mx350 with the MY1020 motor and I literally cannot keep the front wheel down 🤣I'm terrified
@MrJaysniping like motors out of mototecs or etms or ebox's your saying? He'll great idea 💡
What would I do to make this bikes battery to last longer? My 7 year old daughter loves this little bike but it's kinda slow and only last about 15 minutes before needing charged again. Thank you for any help
Get a larger capacity lithium battery. The factory sealed lead acid batteries wear out quickly and hood very little charge
Raion Power 12V 18Ah Replacement Rechargeable Battery for Expocell P212/180 - 2 Pack
How did the stock motor handle the extra juice?
It’s good 👍 but I need suspension
How did you connect the on off toggle switch to the new stuff
Have you figured it out yet?
I’m also running a 11tooth pinion gear stock rear sprocket. 36v controller with a 36v battery. Getting 26mph lmk what can I do for more speed?
48 volt brushless kit and lithium battery
What motor and controller ?
what is the top speed
Sir, Can you install 2 of those batteries for longer range?
Sure, but may not be able to fit the factory plastic side covers though. You could also just get a higher AH / capacity battery to begin with
Thanks for the response
The connector that connects the controller to the battery is not meant to take more than the exact stock voltage. Before I overvolted my sons MX350, I had installed a basic variable throttle controller that sent the full 24V to the motor (compared to the stock 20V). Even with that very slight marginal increase, the connector melted and fused. I didn't even notice it until I was installing the overvolt kit. I'm just glad I caught it before it caught fire or something.
Does buying a new connector fix that problem? Or is it better just not to upgrade it?
@@ohkamoto Sure. A connector meant to take more current will solve the issue. On the other hand, the connector has been fused for months (again) since I've overvolted the bike, and it's still running flawlessly and I've had zero issues. I think the extra current is only high enough to soften the connector, not _actually_ melt it. Personally, I'd go ahead and upgrade the bike. It's totally worth it.
The connector melting isn't due to the voltage. It's due to the current.
@@DescartesRenegade And what do you think increasing the wattage by 400% and only increasing the voltage by 50% does to the amp draw?
@@nxdboi the increase in current is a byproduct of increased RPM caused by overvolting, but it's still not the voltage that causes the heat. Voltage isn't the direct cause. Static electricity can be thousands of volts but not cause any harm. In science, one must be precise on their use of terminology.
All the insulation around the battery wont that just trap heat in ???
Nope, it's got a very low power draw controller and plenty of room to breath in the covers.
Can you add a extra 12 volt battery to already 24 volt using stock control and stock motor Will stock control hold 36 volts?
I suppose, but not a lot of room to work with inside the factory covera
I've been working on something just like this but the bad news is that overvolting to 36v on the stock controller does not work it has some sort of safety feature that shuts off the whole system because how much voltage your putting on the controller. with the stock motor it does still work but you would have to buy a 36v rated controller for it to work.
Hey I have 2 MX350’s both with dead batteries. I’m stuck and I don’t know what kind of battery’s should i buy for more mph and ride time. I’m on a budget so something semi-cheap would be ideal. Thanks for any help!
Also I’m not sure if I also need to be a new controller, throttle or anything else.
Well if you want more speed, a minimum of a 36 V controller is needed since the factory controller doesn't handle 36V battery power very well. A small 8-12AH 36V Lithium battery pack would do@@ohkamoto
@@PatOutdoors Thank you for the help.
Bruh i put 65 volts to a electric skateboard hub motor it ran like a champ
how did you wire the throttle to the controller? i’m trying to do the same thing
It’s a stock MX650 controller and throttle, so they clip into each other with no modification.
@@PatOutdoors ahhh okay i got you thanks for the reply man i appreciate it!!
30 mph ? with you on it and as light as it is. Fingers crossed
Lol I don't see that, though it would be glorious.
My mx350 will do 33 with the right gears and a little down hill but it climbs like a dog
If I put in 48 V kit from Amazon on my MX 350 do I need a whole new battery?
You need a 48V battery to run a 48V controller, yes
@@PatOutdoors can I buy an adapter?
Did it blow up? Can that motor last with 36v?
Haha no not yet
How’s the mx350 been so far with this upgrade?
I actually gave this bike away to a friend's kid a year ago, but it's still running fine.
Do the mx500 controllers make you use less battery? For like longer drive time?
if not then how can i make my bike have longer play time??
You need a larger battery. Like 25AH vs 15ah
@@PatOutdoors I also don't have a speed controller or a throttle yet because they haven't came . but i just have the motors hooked straight to the batteries controlled by a button/ switch. so everytime i flick the button motor switch on. playtime is around 10mins
Im going to get the speed controller and stuff, but do you think its the batteries or if i need the speed controller to help with the battery playtime?
I mean how do you modulate the throttle with an on/off switch? The controller manages the amount of power drawn from the batteries. I also have no information on what batteries you have or why your bike doesn’t have a controller installed. I would think a controller will help manage the power better than having no controller
@@PatOutdoors thanks !
How long douse the battery last
With 8AH, likely 10 miles depending on rider weight and terrain incline
Where do u connect the 3 powers for the power switch
The triangular connector? There's only one matching 3-pin connector going to the controller.
Hey I got the razor mx650 controller and throttle . And then I got the 36volt battery 8ah from your description which plug on the controller will fit the battery. Thanks
@@PatOutdoorshey I really need help which controller do you have because the one that I got from your description won’t work for the on and off switch animal connect to the battery
I’m having the same issue did you ever figure it out
Same not sure how to wire the on and off switch with the new 36v controller since the throttle light stays on all the time 🤷🏻♂️
I haven't played w a 350 bike yet. But ive managed to manipulate the 500s and 650s, to my will!
The 350 is quite limited.. No front brake and no room to sit! But it would be insane to install a 3000W kit on it at some point.
@@PatOutdoors wwll its not hard to mount a brush 36v kit from a stock 650 razor! . Cam stunts uses one. But his account was closed a few days ago, by mistake. A base motor 2kw , and use the 1st speed. I can show you how to Reverse shut mod. Soft start. Things like that.
Does a 30,000mah 36v work ?
What are the physical dimensions of this specific battery? There’s not a lot of room on this bike to fit a large battery. I suggest doing measurements
what version mx 350 is this
An older one, from 2015ish
put the old MX650 brakes on the MX350?
I'd love to, but there is no bracket built on to the fork and there is no mounting solution on the wheel for the rotor. This is possible, but would require some welding and maybe an SX500 front wheel
@@PatOutdoors I’ve seen brake bracket adapters that clamp on the frame and slide around the axel bolts. I think you may be able to swap out the rear drum brake with the threaded adapter and discs you’ve used on the upgraded brakes on the MX650. It looks like the front wheel would need to be swapped to get a disc mounted there.
@@RobYeung I'm gonna look more into this! Thanks for the ideas
I have an extra rsf350 rear wheel so I just converted to disc brakes. Works great.
I know I'm a year late but by chance do you know how much this costed to add these mods
I wanna say about $200 at the time of this video
Ok thank you
I have a mx350 with a dead battery,
Do you think I could run it with a 36v battery and stock controller or buy a better 24v battery?
Thank you
I know people regularly run 48V batteries to overvolt the factory 36V controller on the MX500 / SX500 / MX650 / RSF650. But I haven't heard of people safely running 36V on the stock MX350 controller. I would probably recommend getting either the Fast Scooters 36V controller or a factory MX500/650 controller like this to do that properly: amzn.to/3B4N4Ao
But I guess it wouldn't hurt to try overvolting your stock controller first and then just replace it when it goes bad.
Done a stock mx350 with a 36v lithium ion battery. Got 26mph, on a half charged battery. Motor gets a bit hot after 10mins of riding. What can I do to keep the motor temp down, plus add about another 3-4mph? Maybe bigger rear sprocket? Or bigger pinion gear?
@JonahNAloha what controler and throtle ?
Mine is doing 22.5 mph on gps with the the stock motor and still re using the two stock batteries 😈
Downhill? How much do you weigh?
@@PatOutdoors up hill and down hill lol I added another 12v battery, from my other sx500 and all electronics including the throttle. Pretty much everything from the 500 besides the motor.

@JonahNAloha what controller are you using ?
why don’t you finish the video

Man why no footage of riding? I hate watching a build and not seeing any video of riding.
It’s another video after this one..
