We hope you enjoyed this week's vlog. We love exploring smaller towns to experience more of the local culture. We will definitely go on more day trips from Budapest soon. If you are from Hungary, let us know in the comments where we should visit. Thanks for watching! 😀 - Brandon & Anja

I watched a couple of your hungarian videos as a local, who born in Budapest, and i have to say they are really entertaining, with pretty okay prononciation, and the overall vibe of videos is really nice. Feels like you really focusing on positive things, having decent hints for other travellers, and even for me its good to see some intresting places, since we rarely visit some places what are mainly for tourists. All in all you guys seems a really good vibe team, and i wish you good luck with traveling around and keep the good work on this channel.

Thanks for saying that! It's hard to make videos that can interest both tourists, and locals. Tourists like to see the main attractions, and locals want you to delve deeper than that. We try to always do a mix of both if we can.
In the end, we just do our best to capture the feeling of a city, the way we've experienced it.

3:12 second phase of leaven cucumber.
For those who don't know: This is a lactic acid fermentation method. The yeast in the bread sours the cucumber. It is made in summer because it needs heat. When ready, the juice will be cloudy white. The recipe is very simple and anyone can do it.
It should be searched for as kovászos uborka.
It's divine cold leaven cucumber with egg nokedli.
2:30 p.m. In the early 80s, a scoop of ice cream was 50 fils. That's half a forint. The one and two forint coins are no longer available either.
14:43 That little metal box. Hot sandwich oven. According to many, the best sandwiches are made there.
Trabant. Rather, it was the most accessible car of its time. Then you could get a car if you paid the details in advance (as if you paid the loan in advance and then took it out), then you waited for it to arrive. Many times for years. In principle, the equipment and color were optional. In theory. In practice, you either took what they gave you, or you waited for more years. And maybe they offered something else again. So you took it instead, because it was already there.
Of course, the colors were only basic colors, and their shades are those that were mixed during production. .After a few years, UV radiation created completely unique colors.. Including different parts of a car..
Then you personalized it in a DIY way. But you couldn't touch the factory color, because you had to change your documents for that. And that was difficult because of the bureaucracy.
The cars had a ranking, the Trabant was the lowest category.
At the same time, it turned out to be a reliable, easy-to-repair car (even at the DIY level), although there were more comfortable cars as well. I think Anja is familiar with the movie Go Trabi Go..
15:27 Puli. Hungarian experimental moped car. It was born in the 1980s and was intended for the Western market. It is no coincidence that it resembles Polski126. It was assembled from readily available parts. At that time, the dollar, the West German mark, and all Western money were badly needed. They even tried this ugliness. To put it mildly, it didn't work.. It's been forgotten today. This one of the few left.
15:33 On that bench, if you leaned back, it overturned, backwards.. It could have been designed by a very very very smart person..
15:46 Where Anja felt the dashboard, there was a separate built-in device above it. It was a cash register and a ticket office at the same time.
Such buses traveled the country's roads. So it is more likely that Jászberény (well, Tura - it's easier to say) than Oktogon.

@@wherearewe-yt You have to wait until about May to taste it, because now it's too cold to prepare it.
You can observe the things placed in front of the houses and if there is a large glass bottle with a wide opening, bring it. The glass can be washed, dangerous chemicals have not been in public circulation for a long time. Thus, it can be cleaned with any ordinary detergent.
      A standard recipe until May.
2 kg of cucumbers (for leaven)
      1 head of garlic
      1 bunch of dill
a few slices of bread (sourdough).
      3 liters of water
      3 tablespoons of salt
Mix the water with salt and bring it to a boil, then cool it to lukewarm.
You need a cucumber about 10-12 cm long (about the width of the palm of your hand) that breaks into pieces. A slightly wilted one will no longer be good.
Wash the cucumber thoroughly under running water, if necessary, smooth it with a sponge. Cut off the ends of the clean cucumber, and cut the sides lengthwise in the middle. You need two cuts, 90 degrees apart. The two cuts start from opposite ends of the cucumber and end about 1 cm from the end. You don't have to cut it, because then it will fall apart into 4 parts. Thus, the intact part at the two ends holds the vegetable together.
Put a generous amount of dill and cleaned pieces of garlic at the bottom of a clean mason jar (in the case of a 5-liter jar, put all the dill and garlic in it, for smaller jars, divide them separately), then carefully wrap the cucumbers in it, pour lukewarm water, and put a slice of sourdough bread on top . Seal it with a plate, after 3-4 days, put the cucumbers in a plastic container (it can be any other), pour the strained juice over the neck, seal it and store it in the refrigerator.
      My addition:
3-4 days is meant in warm weather. It can be more or less. If the juice is cloudy, it's a good sign.
The glass is important because it is how you can check the level of doneness.
