Take it from an Expert Hungary Traveler. Loose as much weight as you can before you go to Hungary because like me - you'll easily gain 10 lbs or more when you get home - after eating all the rich foods, delicious pastries and wonder spirits. Excellent Video again...
The only time I ever have a sweet tooth is when I visit Budapest. Eszterházy torta is my favourite dessert of all!!

I didn't even know all these desserts, even though I'm a fan of Hungarian confectionary and desserts since long. I love the fact that Hungarian confectionary is on average not as sweet as others and if there are walnuts, chestnuts, almonds, turó or poppy seeds, I'm sold.
You should make this into a series though, you've left out so much! Where are all the varieties of rétes, beigli, turó dishes, almás pite, Gundel palacsinta and flódni; oh, I just looooove flódni! Well, everything really ...
I can't buy all of this over here, so I have to make everything myself. You should see my mothers face when she hears I'm baking ... Somlói galuska is her absolute favourite together with turós (császár) rétes ...
Fun fact: over here in the Netherlands we have a national cake called "tompouce" which is basically just like a krémes but even more crunchier and with a hard pink icing on top. They are notoriously difficult to eat decently, I just watched a video that showed 5 ways how to eat them properly 😄And today is Kings Day (the king's birthday, big festivities everywhere), the royal family is from the house of Orange-Nassau (that's why the national colour is orange), so the whole country dresses in orange and feasts and today all tompouces are orange too
Yeah, it would be difficult to go through ALL the amazing desserts we have... from a health perspective for sure :D But indeed there is so much so we were hoping that the video does well and that means eventually we can dive deep into some of the other favorites :) Luckily, it looks like one day we can make that video too :)

@@brad1201 I suggest to try them at a “szamos” pastry shop, it is a chain well known for their marzipan. They sell a pretty excellent version of Örség zöld aranya. There is one pretty close to the Parliment for example.
Akos - my wife and I are coming to Budapest in September, and I'm loving all of your videos - really useful. However! - I am vegetarian and my wife is vegan - could you do a video showing what cafes and restaurants there are for us in Budapest? Before September if possible! :-) Thank you! :-)

Will see what we can do, it may be difficult to cover all the amazing vegan and vegetarian places, but in the meantime, a lot of people recommend the Happy Cow app which shows all the vegan, vegatarian or gluten-lactose free restaurants on a map :) Perhaps it will be good to have a look at it prior to your arrival :)

Hey there! Very few may have a hint of rum in them, and pork fat is used in some of the recipes for Krémes (cream cake) but it's rare for major Confectionaries to make it that way it's mostly a grandma thing 😊 regarding the rum or other alcohol , it's best to ask when ordering, but the majority will not have that in them. 😊

These all look amazing! We will be there visiting from US in June. Two questions-- my husband has tattoos on his back and both arms. In Southern California it’s accepted. They are not anything bad- just a California kid who went to university at the beach. Will the be ok at the thermal baths? Or are tattoos unacceptable ? Also is an N26 account ok to get money from an ATM in Budapest?
Hey there! A lot of people here have tattoos, just look at the most known soccer player we have playing in Liverpool, his hands are full :) So nothing to worry about! Unfortunately I am not sure about what accounts work well (I am not familiar with N26 Accounts), but the common cards like Mastercard and Visa are excepted everywhere (also Revolut and such) and ATMs should also accept them, but perhaps try to check with your Bank.

I never had, but looks like the filling might be similar to it 😊 so must be good 😊
I tried oroszkrém torta at my neighbor's birthday party, that was also a great cake. But I suppose you don't like it because of the raisins haha
for some reason Oroszkrém cake is not easy to find these days. but yes, not my favorite 🙂

Mindig elvezem a videotokat. Erdekes volt hallani Confectionery szot, amit itt nem hasznalnak mar az USA-ban. Itt a Pastry szo megy ezekre a finomsagokra. De az Angoloknal talan meg hasznaljak.
