    Simple solution that worked for me was to disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes. Reconnect it. Fixed!

    Thanks clay. Nissan said it would be $950 for mine bc it's a computer something or another part that is bad (it's been a couple years). Mine only happens when it's below 32 degrees out. The dealership does something that resets it bc when I get my car back from diagnosing it works until winter rolls around again and if I forget and use my fob when everything is frozen to load groceries in back of murano and I'll be danged it stops working again. Dealership wants to charge me $200 diagnostic even though I know what it is.

    how did you diagnose it? i have a Rogue and it does not open, i went to the liftgate module, unplug it, 5 seconds, plug it back it and the liftgate will work 3 times and go back in a kind of safety mode where it will not open no matter what switch you press (front, liftgate or remote)

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  Před 4 lety +1

      I’m not sure what you got going on Gabriel but it sounds like you probably have more of a electrical problem than a switch problem like I did in this video I show you how I diagnosed it in the video at least if I remember correctly I did in your situation I’m not certain what you have going on I could guess that it may be a bad motor because it’s getting fatigued it could be a bad wire between the door and the body because The wire is getting moved when you’re opening and closing the door and Shorting out. That would be my first thing that I would check sorry wish I could be of some more help

  • @revanou6608
    @revanou6608 Před 2 lety +1

    Clay, when I ground the red wire, the actuator actually works, however when bridging the 2 switch wires, it doesn't work. That means replacing the switch will not fix. Does it mean the BCM is faulty?

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m not exactly sure. But I would do a little bit further investigating by disconnecting the ECM and disconnecting different connectors in the engine compartment and look for corrosion.
      A lot of scenarios when you replace a part it seems to cure the problem for a short period of time but the actual problem is corrosion in the connectors throughout the system the reason that replacing a component cures the problem for a little bit because it gets a better ground.
      So double check everything like where everything connected together and make sure you don’t have any corrosion before replacing any parts

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  Před 2 lety

      Well so when I read your message originally I thought you were talking about a Skidoo snowmobile, I greatly apologize you’re working on a Nissan rear liftgate handle which you already know but I did not until just now
      In that situation whatever makes that switch work is what you need to do if you do use a power source make sure you fuse that power source with something 10 A or less
      If you’re going to isolate the ground I don’t think installing a relay would hurt anything at all.
      Sounds like you pretty much got it figured out. Sorry I misunderstood your original message on what you were working on

    Clay, thanks for the video. I did the same diagnosis to my 2005 Murano a few months ago and got a replacement pressure button for ~$35. Installed it and doesn't work. I think there must be another issue, maybe electrical but don't see any wire frays (also checked fuses). The old button was worn out and could tell the button was bad and thought that would take care of it. Checked the actuator and it was lubed well and could manually move it with no problems, so don't think thats the issue. Any other advice you have would be helpful. Thanks!

      Clay Rogers the two front doors on the vehicle were replaced once before. The shop that did it cut the original wire harness and spliced in an after market actuator. I bought OEM parts and wired them back in to the factory harness. Now the trunk will not unlock, would you check fuses before replacing the rear actuator? Sorry for so many questions, I appreciate your response!

    Where did you buy your filler switch at? I went to O'Reilly's here on Plainfield and they don't seem to have one nor know what I'm talkin about even with the part number ( and showing them this video haha) is there anything else I am going to need to buy in order to get this all completed... Cuz I'm sure you have extra stuff laying around you can grab and use and I obviously don't. Cuz I noticed you have those two wires coming out the pressure switch in when I was looking up some not have wires it's just the button!! Lol So pretty much where did you find the Pico brand because they don't carry it?

      @@sharpcarco youre exactly right. Arent you sick of all this "woops the software has failed and now your car wont work" crap?
      these people are deliberately placing computer flash memory crap in between YOU and the use of the product, in CERTAIN locations that matter to you...
      the drive stick... the doors (while at the same time, removing the key locks all over the cars except the drivers' side door) the hatch lock, the transmission shifting...
      note where youre NOT seeing sudden failures... areas where you technically can live without it...
      the blower for air conditioning or heat...the radio or things related to it... the power windows or things related to it... a cigarette lighter... power seats...
      they added things to cause you to not be able to use the car... and placed computer tech THAT FAILS in the middle.. despite computer tech doing other things, they most certainly dont suffer from "sudden unexp[lained software fais" like the things I stated, in MANY MANY car brands,.. causing you dot return to a dealer and get charged hundreds of dollars... AND HOPEFULLY the cost is more than a third of what you paid for the used car, so you are tempted to buy a NEW car from them...
      cant you see that these people are sabotaging the cars so as to screw us?
      and youre likely more worried about my comment on your paage. Im not here to mock or belittle you. youre helping people. thats good. Im just saying that the car makers are doing this deliberately, and we need to have folk learning how to RETURN TO MANUAL options. like a friggin PLAIN OLD LOCK AND KEY that I can install. Some people are opting to bypass the computer based lock system and install a new wireless key system from amazon. Its cheaper in the long run.
