I think there's a lot of stuff that was left out of the Netflix mini docuseries: the fact that his dad was an alcoholic, that his mom had a probable OCD, that she herself was an animal abuser, that she would lock them and her kids out of the house or car during cold weathers, the fact that Luka himself was a bedwetter, and the fact that Luka Rocco Magnotta isn't his original name. I don't know why they did that, it would have given insight about the reasons why he became the monster he is. My husband was dumbfounded at the end of the series, "Really? He killed people because he was bullied?". But then, we found Dr. Grande's video and the Wikipedia page, and learned that his background was the perfect scenario for a psychopath to flourish.

I engaged in a conversation with him and I didn’t feel comfortable with him and my internal warning kicked in. He admitted to killing a bunch of kittens because he wanted to. He would adopt several of them, have them for awhile and then kill them. He wanted to be a porn star, expressed his dislike for the vulnerable, he was a quick speaker, was very agitated but friendly at the same time. I was a little surprised that they didn't bring out more of his schizophrenia because he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. At some point. He probably did not stay on his medications. And it does seem like he had periods of psychosis for sure. But wow this guy took it to the Limit with his narcissism and borderline personality Etc. I can't imagine someone going to all those extreme lengths to bring attention to himself. All the platforms he was on, creating unrealities about himself and then being on the other side busting himself. Quite a unique character. While his psychological issues are regrettable, he would not be any less dangerous if they were treated, as treatment would likely fail at some point due to his noncompliance, or the inevitable funding cuts. Protection of the community should be the primary goal. There have been way too many treatment failures, like Kemper, for us to be naive about the current limits of treatment for violent individuals.

When the torso was found in the suitcase in the alley of his building this is when people started to panic. I find it to be so sad for the victim.
Everytime I walk through the same Post Office that he send the body parts I can't stop myself of thinking about him. Like you said, I dont understand why no one said he was schizophrenic since there was a history of him saying that he heard voices.
Another thing that made me so angry/sad in the documentary was the mother...she really was convince that her son did all that because of Manny and that he was innocent.

I don’t think people care that he was abused, abused disabled women- sexually assaulted her. He was bullied in school, deemed gay-which who knows if he was or wasn’t as he obviously had Hetero tendencies on record. But if you have homosexual experiences as a child you may be desensitized or desire this. His sexuality was taken from him, and being abused sexually several times a day would destroy someone’s sense of self but also aid in a kind of self-objectification. He was valued for his looks and sexuality-paid for it. Which are minor parts of someone’s value-but inextricably tied to sense of worth. This is why prostitutes value the amount of $ they are paid or how many people want to sleep with them-as if others approval gives them worth; or their sexuality carries a dollar value. Which it cannot. A human body cannot be bought and sold, not truly. But the main point is when he started killing cats, because people care about innocent animals. And it’s such a horrific crime, that it seems that’s when his life was apprehended. Once you torture cats-then it’s an ethical issue ...but not a lifetime of mistreatment of other people. Or himself. It’s interesting and sad.

I hadn't heard of this one. i just read about it. *That is terrible.* It would be interesting to get Dr. Todd's take on it, and maybe some suggestions as to how the police could have handled it better. It appears, (from his speech patterns, and the fact that he couldn't stand being touched), that Elijah was probably on the autistic spectrum. Why on earth would they give him ketamine? It often causes problems in humans, and he didn't consent.
I can understand *why* he resisted, as he hadn't done anything, but that's very dangerous. It sounds like he *was* cooperating later, though.
My autistic adult son was once stopped in Denver, while walking to work. Suddenly, he was surrounded by police cars, and the police jumped out and surrounded him with guns drawn and yelling at him. He stood there shaking, and put up his hands, as instructed. They searched him, got on their radios, checked his I.D.,, and then apologized and let him go. He did experience some rough handling. It had been a case of mistaken identity, and he fit the description of someone they were looking for.
He was shaken up for weeks after that, and had a panic attack every time he saw a cop car. Since then, he has had to call the police once, and had a better interaction with them, but it took him awhile to get over that. In the end, he lived through it. Parents, please tell your kids to not resist, even if the cops are wrong.

The innocuous phrase "ending the lives of animals" minimizes the fact that he tortured and killed cats in truly horrific ways. The probability that he performed these acts to gain attention, rather than for sadistic pleasure, doesn't mitigate the behaviour - or warrant the minimization - in my view.

I think bedwetting alone after the age of 5 doesn't necessarily associate with psychopathy. The stronger association might be when it's associated with other things - violent behavior towards animals, vindictive, manipulative, etc. ... By the way, I believe narcissists are probably extremely insecure individuals. If the walls of vanity and other things that surround them are torn down, they might be so fragile.

You are not wrong about the narcissists. They create a fake gradiose personality to trick themselves to forget they are extremely fragile and insecure inside.
