      @natekeyes2297 Před rokem +6

How exactly was she a huge driver in this solved case? It's true she went on camera every chance she got, but that was her main contribution. If you read the book "Lost Girls" you find that Shannan spent a great deal of her childhood in foster care because her mother did not want her at home. Her mother was generally rejecting towards her. After Shannan's disappearance, her mother (Mari Gilbert) THEN began to act like a loving mother who was destroyed by her precious daughter's disappearance. She gave many, many interviews and was in front of a camera every chance she got, being very dramatic. She continually harassed Dr. Peter Hackett, a resident nearby the area Shannan disappeared, and insisted he was guilty. She continually insisted that Shannan was a victim of the Long Island Serial Killer, which turns out not to be the case. She also accused nearby residents in general of being involved in a conspiracy to murder Shannan or cover up Shannan's murder. She was murdered in 2016 by another one of her daughters.

Read "The Lost Girls" by Robert Kolker and you'll get a whole different perspective on Mari Gilbert (the mother). Shannan spent a lot of her childhood in foster care because her mother wanted her there. Her mother was rejecting towards her. Once Shannan went missing her mother was in front of a camera every chance she got, playing the victim, and accusing a variety of people of Shannan's murder. One of Mari Gilbert's other daughters stabbed her to death in 2016.

James Burke was fired and served federal time in prison and was accused of engaging with prostitution in that area and drug use. Aside from feeling bad for the victims and their families, I feel bad for his wife and daughter. Imagine being his wife and discovering your husband is not only unfaithful and frequenting prostitutes, but was killing them and is a serial killer on top of it. Her trauma must be unimaginable. The guy is not only a serial killer but he's sadistic the way he terrorized the victims families. Heuermann is huge not only in height but weight, he dwarfs other men. The women he targeted were all extremely petite, from what I read they were between 4'10" and 4'11". Did he deliberately choose short women so he could easily overpower them and make it easier to kill them without a fight? He went to HS school with Billy Baldwin. I wonder if Billy has any interesting observations regarding him? I saw this guy in an interview prior to his arrest and he came across as bit of a jokester, a bit charismatic in a strange sort of way. A 25-year-old woman recently had a creepy encounter with him in the Gilgo park. She was so shaken by it she filed a police report. She's one of the fortunate ones who got away. 🧚‍♀

This is similar to Ted Bundy and his girlfriend and her daughter. For a long time the girlfriend refused to believe that Ted did it. He had convinced her that he had been framed. According to a movie that NetFlix made about Ted, the girlfriend went to visit Ted a few days before he was executed and she asked him if he did it. He told her he did. Rex's wife might have had suspicions about Rex, but making yourself believe something like that can be difficult. Ted's girlfriend had huge problems after all this. She became an alcoholic. The thing that surprises a lot of people is that Ted was nice to his girlfriend and daughter and he never hurt them. Also, Ted had lots of groupies. Women adored him, even after he was accused of the murders. One of his ex girlfriends even moved to where Ted was in jail to be near him. She had conjugal visits with Ted and she had a child with him. I guess love can make people look past a lot of things.

@@joevignolor4u949it's a very common reaction in cases like this. It reflects something in offenders that psychologists call "personality fracture". These murderers effectively lead the lives of two different people. They can be perfectly normal, charming and loving in their day to day life. But then there's this other element to them that nobody sees but their victims. What the families are in effect really saying in these cases is that they can't believe that *the side of the murderer* they saw could do such a thing.

It is clear at t his time that Shannan (the correct spelling) clearly was not murdered by the Long Island Serial Killer. She ran from the house of a client near Gilgo Beach in an area where Rex Heuermann did not live, and her body was later found in that area. She was likely under the influence of drugs when this happened and also suffered from mental health issues. The incident was actually witnessed by her driver as well as her client. I don't think it was unreasonable of her family to believe that she was one of LISK's victims, by her mother was a drama queen who was constantly making accusations against various people nearby and claimed that people in the neighborhood (which was not Rex Heuermann's neighborhood) had conspired to kill Shannan. She enjoyed getting attention for herself. She was killed in 2016 by another one of her daughters.

For the ones under 30, some end up suicidal, depressed or become addicts, after their father is outed in the media. I guess their youth makes them less able to cope. None of them had any idea their father was like that. For two daughters of one of them, he had sexually abused them as children and showed signs of psychopathic behaviour, but that was all and they never dreamed he could be a serial killer. For other children of killers, they actually grow up to work with victims of crime, or work in law enforcement.

I think he really wanted to be a child killer given his porn searches. He knew he couldn't get away with that for long, so he did the next best thing, very tiny sex workers who, some, weren't even reported missing.

Glad this case was FINALLY solved. Now, the women's families can hopefully get the answers, that may eventually bring them a modicum of peace. As a former Long Island resident, this case stayed with me because the police work was shoddy, and jurisdictions (there were several), blamed and shamed those poor women ad nauseum for being sex workers, as though they didn't deserve to live. TY Dr. Grande for a much-needed update.

SO? And that makes him a serial killer anyway right? At least 3 families know MORE NOW than they did before. Serial killers ALWAYS withhold crucial info about additional murders. Just because they can't find the evidence of the other ones, does NOT have mean he didn't do them. I am the parent of a murdered daughter, and as such, I would HATE to have amateur internet sleuths trivializing my daughter's murder, in such a cold, impersonal way. They were PEOPLE NOT "BODIES." “Design flaws.”
As if he was an AI clone.
    In ancient Sanskrit texts.
These designs are called vasanas or mental tendencies.
It is said that we choose them before we come for each birth.
This concept is thousands of years old.
When I “died” for lack of oxygen to the brain years ago. I went into this place of immense love and beauty, and was shown how we choose our life and its design program.
Since then, through the decades, there have been books written by doctors who have observed this as well in patients that have either been clinically heart or brain dead. They have come back to tell a similar story according to their particular design filter.
There are many CZcams videos coming out now about this phenomenon called NDE. Near Death Experience.
I am wondering if you could do a video on that.
It is a very popular subject.
