The clones were truly the most tragic characters out of all the Clone Wars era characters. Just imagine being created and raised to fight in a war that was purposely engineered to allow a Sith to take control of a Republic and turn it into an Empire. I think it probably has a few different triggers of sorts. remember when Wolffe almost went ballistic in rebels upon a light saber being ignited, despite knowing the Jedi are cool, and having had some treatment of the chip, even if clearly not the full package. I think it's like it overwrites your mind, but it cannot always be doing that, it kinda needs reminders and triggers for it. Like initially during the great Jedi purge, all clones who received the order were 100% being controlled by the chip, that's why their personalities are almost completely swept away for that time, barely even bubbling up when prompted (example, the whole Jesse thing in the hangar). However after it's done it partly retreats in the clones mind, how fully and how the differences between individual clones work, idk but it does I think, and it's fully re-activated when a trigger for that clone appears, such as something directly connecting to the presence of a Jedi, not as that person, but specifically as a Jedi.
so basically my theory is that the clone recognised Obi-Wan, but due to the programming being so far back in his mind, and him not recieving a trigger (like if Ben started talking about Jedi stuff and ignited his lightsaber in front of the clone) he didn't go full order 66. At that moment he saw obi wan as not a Jedi, the people who he has directives to eliminate, but as someone who fought same as him.

I still think a big reason why the Empire failed was because they completely got rid of clone troopers. I understand cutting expenses, however you could keep a million troopers on standby for great conflicts. The clones would have decimated the Rebellion. Granted they would be fighting organics vs droids but the Rebels did not have the training clones did.
Also in order to cut costs, you could research a way to only have accelerated aging up to a certain point. Then it continues naturally. That way clones can serve longer, have a future, and be able to retire.

In Rome, when a legion (members of which were usually recruited at the same time) finished it's term of service, the surviving members were each given land in the same area of a conquered territory, and were allowed to keep all of their armour and weapons. This meant if there was an invasion or uprising, there was a large contingent of trained legionaries, seasoned on the battlefield together, and loyal to the Roman Empire, to act as a local militia to deal with the issue. The benefits of this should be pretty obvious. The Galactic Empire would have done well to have used this same tactic. They may have even shut down the rebel scum early if they had.

First of all, loved that scene in Kenobi for a lot of reasons, most of which you talked about in the video. That being said, do you think it was a poor choice to use a clone from the 501st? I thought it was still canon that the 501st continued to be Vader’s fist until they all eventually died and were replaced by non-clone soldiers. If that is still true, then the only way that a 501st clone could end up like the one in Kenobi is if he got too old, but besides being out of shape that clone looks like he still has a couple years left.

The clone troopers where the best soldiers in the Star Wars universe IMO. They had both the battle intelligence and skills needed to complete their missions and battles. They deserved much more respect after the Clone Wars ended.
Also, the Jedi had it coming. We don't need a bunch of space cultists operating outside the rule of law in order to fulfill their own dogma.

Perhaps giving his last to protect him against the Grand Inquisitor as Obi Wan and Leia made their escape.

The one reason that's not talked about for phasing out the clones is that control chip. How much is any Sith Lord going to trust soldiers that they KNOW have programming chips in their brains, made by a third party?
That's why I don't like the lore about Palpatine having an ex-clone trooper as a guard. He'd always suspect that the Kaminoans might have hid some other tricks in that chip. That they could compromise the clones to get at him after he turned on them after the clone wars. I think the Emperor would DEEPLY distrust the clones, they were a necessary risk right up until order 66, then they were nothing but a liability. TBH I think the only reason he didn't mass execute them as soon as he was done with them was he still had to keep the senate on board at that time.
