So I've read. Now WJBK is the Fox station, while CBS programming airs on WWJ 62.

I sort of recall one test on one of the Duluth stations when I was growing up in Thunder Bay (the Duluth affiliates switched over to Detroit stations for some reason prior to my moving to the Toronto area in 1986), it featured the CD logo on a yellow background as the tone sounded. Don't recall which station it was though

The CD logo on a yellow background on the Duluth station made me think from NBC affiliate in Nashville WSMV TV 4 slide with the stand alone CD logo on a yellow background that was recently uploaded on CZcams. Was it the NBC station in Duluth?

@@nicka727 Could have been KBJR 6, I watched that and KDLH (channel 3, the CBS affiliate at the time) mostly in the mornings for the game shows - I had kindergarten in the afternoons

Where are you finding these? These are great!

Some CZcamsrs publish commercials that aired on local stations in the 1980s and 1990s. These commerical clips will occasionally include EBS tests. When I find one, I download the video with RealPlayer, then I use RealPlayer's "Trim" feature to clip out the EBS test, and then I upload the EBS test by itself to my CZcams channel.

The text scroll starts at the last 4 seconds of the attention signal, while at WXYZ that the scroll starts at the last 1.5 seconds of the tone with sine wave combo.

This aired on April 4, 1987 at 1pm right after WWF Superstars and before Big Valley which is right after the station ID at the end.

All EBS tests in Detroit had the CD logo and having grown up in Michigan, this used to scare the BOO-HOOGIES out of my growing up
I can recall an EBS test on WJBK from the late 80s/early 90s, it had a blue & black background with a red strip on the left hand side of the TV screen that had the WJBK 2 on the top & the CD logo on the bottom and EBS TEST and the wording display against the blue & black background

I remember the updated EBS test on WJBK in 1989 after it changed logos in late 1988. Where was the word EBS Test in the 1989 slide. That means this slide lasted until the logo change in December 1988. Jim, do you remember WDIV’s test in the 1980s that I remember with the spinning green lines and the CD logo on the lower right (attention signal) and the CD logo in the backdrop on a black screen (opening and closing announcements with WDIV’s announcer voiced over) that is most scared the boo-hoogies out even viewers in Winnipeg via cable carriage in 1986?

@@nicka727 Ooh...one of the SCARIEST EBS tests EVER !!!
Another one that kind used to freak me out a bit was one on WXON TV 20 (now that I know the network) in the 90s, it had a copper gold background w/ "tubes". "THIS IS ONLY A TEST" on the top "tube", "EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM" on the left-hand side of the screen & the CD logo on the right-hand side and the bottom "tube" was the opening & closing test announcements scrolling past. Plus, I think this was the only network to NOT change slides for EBS tests

@@nicka727 It always happened during the cartoons, anywhere frm 2pm to 5pm cause that was the cartoon block, as I used to call it. RARELY did one occur anywhere in the early morning or evening hours (or even late at night, I can recall one time of an EBS Test that aired just before 12am on WWJ 62 & the voiceover was done by a woman who referred to it as the "Emergency BROADCASTING System")

How about the EBS tests on San Diego TV stations? For XETV channel 6 that has the call sign in the USA that didn’t start with a W nor a K. Did it apply to XETV 6?

As a Mexican-licensed station, probably not. That being said, I'd imagine they would've aired "Alerta Sísmica" bulletins if they had to.

@@Hogstuff Same for Canadian-licensed stations it had a different version of EBS as (name of province) public warning system but had different attention tones. Except in Newfoundland or Nova Scotia before 1986 is the only place to find the EBS test is on WJBK or WTVS from Detroit because the only station that had the regular attention signal.
