I challenge any Michael Jordan fan to go on my program and show me how Michael Jordan is the number 1 NBA player of all time. It is real easy to go on. If you want to go on send me an email, my email is thetelephoneuniverse@gmail.com .
Jordan is easily the most overrated player ever
This is probably the best way of summing up John Stockton
He came into the league 6'1" 175 lbs. 4% body fat.
His last season 6'1" 175 lbs. 4% body fat
Not even remotely close to 4%
Haircut, the same.
The only member of the Dream Team that could walk around in public without being bothered.
He was the only person who asked the Jazz for all of their VHS tapes as a Rookie because he knew if he was too relaxed, he would have been cut. By the start of the season, he knew all the plays, knew when his teammates would get into those positions, and when to time those passes.
🏀 John Stockton made everyone who he played with better and more effective, and that's not even debatable.
Realistically 10% but BF tests were pretty inaccurate back then
@@ronjones301 it’s so funny how people have no idea what 4% body fat is. The only human beings, walking around at 4% body fat compete in bodybuilding and our close to a contest.
I think Stockton was pound for pound a top 5 of all time.
Definitely not all time, but I’d say he’s the perfect basketball player. He played to his advantages, practiced until his fundamentals were sound, knew his role, and was extremely successful at it. Something all players could learn from. Played during the most competitive era and got everyone’s respect on the court. Stockton is a BADDDDDDDD MAN.
Arguably best PG of all time
@@englishguy9680my opinion the best i’d rather him than magic
@alexhouser5279 I agree
Wilt would pick him over the entire NBA selection of point guards… Nuff said
He was a basketball savant. Nobody did it better. PERIOD
The fact that people try to argue that CP3 is as good as Stockton is just straight up crazy. If there ever was a Point God in that classical sense, it was no. 12
It’s not really that crazy. What’s really crazy is people’s strange obsession with comparing players from different eras
But I will say this..
Stockton was one of, if not the best of his era
Same to be said for CP3
John Stockton is the best overall point guard in NBA history.
🏀 John Stockton made everyone who he played with better and more effective, and that's not even debatable.
He is the rocky Marciano of basketball
The Greatest point guard ever....never ever any1 better
I’ve followed the NBA since the 90’s when he was a Dream Teamer but never paid a ton of attention to him when he was in the league because there were players who were more exciting, had more potential, or commanded more attention. I think he retired in the early 2000’s but the fact that no PG prospect that followed him ever got close to his career assists and steals numbers is a shocking testament to his efficacy and durability. Not Nash, not Kidd, not CP3, not Iverson, not Westbrook. He’s often left out of the all-time great discussions even though those stats have proved to be untouchable. Some say that he got the assists because of Malone but even if you look at steals only, the margin over No. 2 in the number of career steals is crazy. Freak, silent assassin, ultimate professional - all of these adjectives apply to John Stockton.
One of the best vids ever is Stock with his family on the streets of Barcelona
Kerr: point guards are more looking to score
The irony
He's my pick as starter point guard for my all-time dream team. And come playtime, he's getting the green light for whatever play he considers the right one. I have Magic as my sixth man off the bench, because he can play in any position and is, along with Kidd, one of the only people who could step into the PG role when Stockton needs to rest.
John Stockton’s just so steady and strong. One of my favorite all-time players. PS Larry Bird said Stockton was one of the smartest players ever.
Webbers story is great 👍
I remember he came to my basketball camp when I was in 3rd grade. It was so dope. I still have his autographed ball
The left or the right one?
Every Former Player Mentions How Strong Stockton Was...And Dirty...And GREAT
Stock put Gonzaga on the map. Few took it from there.
Was adam morrison
Quite a tribute. Great job.
They were booing when they picked him
Oh, my goodness! Stockton might be better than Kareem. His on-off per 100 possessions from '97 on was +10.8. That's unheard of for someone age 34-40. If the on-off per 100 possessions was kept as a stat in the 80's, it might prove that Stockton is the GOAT.
@@user-qw8hu2gx9j The on-off isn't perfect and can overrate a player if his teammates underperform. However, I do believe that it's the best statistic at measuring a player's overall performance. I think if we had the on -off for players like Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Bird, and Stockton, it would be tremendously helpful in evaluating their overall careers.
@@user-qw8hu2gx9j To my recollection, the Jazz had a crappy bench that would have given Stockton and Malone a big bump up. The Celtics had a crappy bench that would have given Bird a big bump up. The Lakers, on the other hand, had a strong bench that would have given Magic a big bump down. But I still find the on-off useful because players that are great offensively, but weak defensively, never have a great on-off. If you're just looking at starters, it's good as long as the replacements off the bench are comparable to the rest of the league.
I hated when celtics played Jazz Stockton always had us nervous
Hell naw…. That blonde chick is wrong to think John Stockton isn’t worth the acclaim. Gary Peyton is right.
John Stockton may not have been the celebrity that a Magic Johnson, or a Larry Bird, or Michael Jordan etc… but I will say that what he brought to the game embodied the advantage of not being a celebrity! Being out of sight, out of mind. And that’s one of the many ways he…
BEAT YOU!!!
Truly one of the all time greats!!
🏀🏀🏀
legend eof.
great footage
29:20 my all-time favorite nba moment
yepp totally agree
I can't recognize the moment from that little clip. What is it?
The soundtrack to this video is something.. To say it is eclectic might be an understatement... :D
Kerr has always been delusional
I'm finna pass on this body, I'm John Stockton
Stockton should be ahead of Jordan as the GOAT based on feelings because he was exceptional at more things. Everyone started talking about the best "all-around player" based on feelings in the late 80's, instead of the best player. So, Stockton was better than Jordan all-around.
Than bird would be goat coz he was better than Stockton in every way and bird swept MJ twice 😂
@@jarredroger6887 There's a long line of players that were better than Jordan all-around, but the criteria that's used has always changed so that Jordan always comes out on top. Bird would have everyone beat if the GOAT criteria were to be perfectly balanced at everything.
@@michaeln.2383 but overall I think the goat should be decided by who you'd want playing a game for your life and I'd take bird his clutch play supercedes anything any other player could do
@@user-qw8hu2gx9j It all depends on how the fans and the news media skew "best all- around." No one with common sense would ever say that Bird is the best all-around. When Jordan came along, most of the weight was put on scoring and defense. If more weight were put on field goal percentage and rebounding, a whole bunch of centers and power forwards could be considered the best all-around. If more weight were put on assists, then Magic would be the best all-around. If we just use common sense and try to figure out the "best" player instead of the "best all-around" player, I think it's easier to come up with a small pool of more accurate candidates.
@@user-qw8hu2gx9j Magic gives weight to Bird's outside shooting opening up McHale and Parish. The same principle could be applied to Stockton's outside shooting opening up Malone's game. So, who's most most valuable would depend on philosophy and whether accomplishments are viewed as individual or team.
Mark Price?
5:40 Steve Kerr hyping CP3...
So many legends and still never saw MJ talking about him :/
He mentioned Stock during his hall of fame speech. Not really saying anything about him, but he doesn't seem to praise other players much. That's another thing I love about Stockton. He's quick to turn praise onto others. If you watch his hall of fame speech in comparison, it's pretty clear.
I know who Jeff is because of John 😂
Just for fun: Stockton, D Petrovic, Bird, Nowitzki, Jokic - vs - Magic, MJ, LeBron, Duncan, Kareem. Best of 9.
Petrovic at the 2? I'd go The Logo for the SG.
@@davidharripersad2317 - Okay but what earlier era player to complement him goes on opposing squad? Earl the Pearl?
Theres black dudes checking under their beds at night looking for John
If stockton was in LAL and magic was in Jazz, I think stockton would have multiple championships and Jazz would have 1 at most. Stockton is the 2nd best PG GOAT. If you think any PG in the last 20 years is better, you don't know basketball.
He was bout that buisness
They was stat padding for him....
Im sorry Stockton is one of the most overrated players of all time. Hes was singlehandedly responsible for why the Jazz lost to the Bulls in 98 as he averaged 9 PPG and had a 2 point game 💀. Jamal Murray has a better finals average than Stockton lol.
@@bobbiebaucom2023 He had a 2 point game in the NBA Finals 💀. He's not even better than Jama Murray
@@bobbiebaucom2023 Those assist titles led Stockton to 0 championships. He also had the best powers forward in the league at the time and somehow couldn't win. Jamal wins at least 1 championship with those Jazz teams.
@@bobbiebaucom2023 Iverson never played with the same caliber player as Karl Malone. That's the case with a lot of the players you mentioned.
Jazz only lost because Jordan pushed off on Russel and it wasn’t called.
Yah. Also Dan Marino, Ken Griffey Jr and Charles Barkley are all overrated because they don’t have a ring. Sarcasm off.
For sure
