    A small correction, the Estonian flag was never banned during Nazi occupation and the flag was flown publicly a lot. I have no clue why they didn't ban it, maybe they just didn't care or maybe they hoped to get some approval from the Estonians because of it. This was Tallinn in 1941 when the Germans occupied it czcams.com/video/MhGbfdyuVt8/video.htmlsi=5kq9r7-Ypoas3PdG&t=45 and as you can see, there are a lot of Estonian flags on the walls of the houses in the footage (perhaps because Estonians were actually naively hoping that Germans would give them their independence back). Not trying to give the Nazis any credit, just a fact that I thought would be worth pointing out.

    You're correct, it's combination of it all.
    The scenery is there at other moments too, whenever the ground is "white”, background "dark”, and blue above - eg: fog or reflection on water substituting the color in place of the snow for other seasons of the year.
    - it's like the land itself welcoming you with the flag ...
    What you thought as depressing, is homey and calm for me. "Modest pride" suits with stereotypes on nature.
    Haven't thought of it before:
    Karl - "king";
    Aun - store/preserve (in Estonian);
    Possible interpretations: "king of preserving" or "king's preserver"...
    And a doctor as well.
    - how fitting is that...

      To me the colour scheme of Estonia should come across as drab and depressing but in flag form they work incredibly and uniquely well together and I love it. It’s a beautiful flag.
      Thank you for your comments, thoughts, and for watching. Really appreciate it.

    How are the Estonian flag and the Soviet flag both replaced by the Soviet flag in July of 1940?
