I have always said UK flag or Flag of the UK because of reasons outlined in this video. Though I never like to miss an opportunity to annoy the type that feels the need to correct people about this issue.
I guess the point is, like with Big Ben, if someone says Union Jack, we all know what they’re talking about. Life is surely too short for these types of arguments?
@@FlagsinFocus I have aways found it to be a pointless intellectual power play, a sort of “I know this and you don’t” kind of thing. Same with Big Ben as you point out, or Hoover/vacuum cleaner and HotTub/Jacuzzi. No body really cares and everyone knows what you mean! Though I might start a change petition to “make ‘Union Flag’ and ‘Union Jack’ both official names for the flag of the United Kindgom”. Not sure how many would sign it though and might need to add a “regardless of when, where or how it is flown” stipulation lol.
@hxduck at least it might make it officially official then, not that I would question the Flag Institute with its findings, but maybe at last having something that declares such a title for the flag…. but then…. time….

Why a total redesign of the NYC flag? Erase the seal in the middle and you're good to go, either as is or with the iconic flower in the middle (each petal representing a borough).
