The number one thing I get asked about is, not shockingly, WEIGHT.
    I always get questions like:
What’s the ideal weight for women?
What’s the ideal weight for men?
Is intuitive eating weight loss possible?
Can I achieve no diet weight loss with no food rules?
Is intuitive eating weight gain inevitable?
And on and on. Every single day.
Our society is OBSESSED with weight. So it makes sense if you've got questions about it! Instead of saying "Oh just don't focus on weight!" or "We don't talk about that!" I'm creating a safe, non-diet, non-judgmental space for you to get your questions answered. If we don't talk about weight in the non-diet space? Then we're just funneling everyone back into diet culture who WILL.
So buckle up, buttercup.... we're goin' there!
I’m going to do into all of this in more detail in a 1 hour training next week on April 16th 2024 to give you all of the juicy details including:
→ What your true "best weight" is (spoiler alert... it's probs NOT what your doctor told you!)
→ How and why diet culture has led you astray (making you gain weight and waste money in the process....)
→ Signs you might be above, at or below that weight (it's normal to feel curious about how your weight may or may not change when you stop dieting. don't be ashamed about this!)
→ A 3 step process to help you reach your body's best weight in a non-diet way (an never have to "manage" it again... cause your body can do that all on it's own)
The best way to find your “best” weight is to NOT focus on weight!

What’s tripping me up is that I WANT to listen to your advice, because it’s really good advice! Buuuut I can’t get past the fact that you are skinny (this is not a criticism) and then I start thinking about how I want to be skinny, rather than how I want to intuitively eat. This is just a messed up thing that my brain does, but I can’t get around it. I look at skinny women giving eating advice and then their aesthetic becomes the goal, rather than a healthy relationship with food being the goal. My point is, I WISH being skinny didn’t matter to me, but it is always at the forefront of my mind, and I hate that.

Yeah I have a similar problem- and luckily Colleen has mentioned it before that you don't have to listen to her esp if you're of a different weight, that's your right.
I am morbidly obese, and I struggle with binge eating. Getting worse in terms of medical situations, but it's hard to safely both mentally and physically to lose weight. Plummeting is dangerous, but not plummeting could be potentially dangerous.

I think when you want fast results, it's hard because intuitive eating probably won't get you there super fast, but maybe safely. Overall I just try to listen to my doctors tho, such as not eating a ton of fat (fatty liver disease being the reason why)

So let me first off say that I am turning 70. I have lost weight by dieting and I have spent time working on intuitive eating. What I have learned on this 58 year journey finally at long last is that I will listen to myself, who I am. I don’t FEEL well with excessive weight on my body. Like when I move. I like the ease of a lighter body moving to do whatever. The activities that I enjoy are too long to list. So I won’t follow what diet culture says or what intuitive eating says. I will follow what creates the most comfortable body size that I choose for my spirit to exist in, this makes for an amazingly peaceful existence for me.❤

I had a conversation with my therapist today about tracking food and weight. She wants me to get away from both of these things and focus on what it feels like before and after a snack or meal. I've been dieting my entire 20's and 30's and it's very difficult to let go of tracking. My therapist is a non-diet believer so I definitely hear some of the same good ideas from both of you. I need to pull away from the idea that food is associated with guilt and restriction and your channel definitely helps take some of that guilt away.

My health teacher actually was preaching this. She did have us talk about weight, but not in the stereotypical way. I loved her because she helped us make wise food choices, said it's okay to eat that donut, and told us that exercise doesn't just "burn calories" but it helps our body feel better. We should always respect our bodies for everything they do for us. I felt super at peace and mentally and physically healthy in that class.

This really helped me. Now more than ever I've realized that everyone cares so much about how one looks or how much you weight, and I see it in school too. People would shame others if they're too skinny or too overweight, but everyone's genetics are different and everyone's movement level is different. Maybe people don't sleep as much or are more stressed than another person. Maybe someone has more muscle mass than someone else, but ultimately It's all different depending on who you are as an individual.

How you feel has very little to do with you being healthy or not. I thought I was the pinnacle of health. Turns out I was pre diabetic and had hypertension. My father was also the picture of health until he was hit by a diabetic stroke. I had a buddy that was in excellent shape. Never had to work at maintaining his weight but did eat whatever he wanted when he wanted. His motto was everything in moderation. At 50 years old he had a heart attack and died. Turns out had heart disease. Sure if you feel bad all the time you’re most likely unhealthy but just because you feel great does not mean you are healthy.

Overall I have a healthy relationship with food unfortunately I’m having some horrible symptoms with my GI tract leading me to eat more bland refined foods because they don’t flare my stomach symptoms. I’ve gained weight because I am eating so much more food because fiber rich foods and protein rich foods like diary and eggs make me feel like crap. How am I supposed to manage my health issues while also not being completely miserable and stuck in the bathroom all day because of my GI issues? I feel like I’m in a pickle 🥒 I feel fatigued and tired constantly because I’m eating so much sodium and crab heavy meals. I can’t eat a few pieces of broccoli without feeling the need to throw up. Not because I don’t like them but because of how they upset my stomach. It makes intuitive eating feels out of reach.

Hi Colleen, I love you and your videos so much, and I have a question. I have been a lot less hungry these past few months, I’m not sure why exactly, it isn’t because I am afraid of eating or am scared about weight gain because when I eat food I genuinely enjoy it, but I just don’t feel hungry. Sometimes I don’t feel hungry until 4:00 P.M, could there be a specific reasoning for this or is it just my body changing overtime? I am trying to gain some and eat more than actually feels comfortable but the genetics say no. My older sisters have been underweight most of their lives, they have problems with fertility, my mum is quite thin too. What can I do? i like a number. I really am drawn toward a quantifiable goal but I realize that the scale isn't really where it is at. I don't like the way I look but moblity is more realisticly my goal. I went off a restrictive diet it wasn't for weight loss it was for gut health but it required a level of perfection I couldn't achieve I have gained 33lbs since labor day my winter wardrobe had enough give that I was able to make it work but my summer wordrobe is not going to make it. I have wanted to invest in a custom homemade highquality natural animal fiber for better temp regulation wardrobe for a long time I really didn't want to make myself a " fat person wardrobe" but that weight I gained from I had maintained for 5 years the body size I was wanting to make clothes for I have not been since 2017/2018 but I am making my fancy wardrobe for my 223lb body not my 160 or even my ideal 144lb body I have never seen. I want clothes that fit and complement the size shape and body I currently have. I want to focus my energy on moblity and movement that feels good regulating my nervous system and streamlining my life to reduce unnecessary stress doing less of what I don't like more of what I do and enjoying my life more. I really hope that I am smaller but I think a lot of looking good is finding clothes you look good in and feel good in and are comfortable and you can move in comfortably i think about some of the big women in tv and they look good. like really good they are beautiful they are dressed in clothes that work for them at the size and shape they are I mean I know that they wear shapewear underneith a lot of that to smooth things out. today I wore clothes that fit my body in a way that I felt I looked good. I sometimes struggle with how do I feel because how I feel is so dependent on mood and it just isn't a quanitifiable thing there really isn't even a scale that is objective. I did create a scale for myself on how I am doing/ feeling mental health having my stuff together wise managing stress and depression like this is what a one looks like this is what a 2 looks like and how functional I am at a 3 or 4 or 8

@@MommyEvas she doesn’t want to get diabetes though. She has an excellent doctor. Not many know anything about diabetes or what causes it. Have you ever thought of reversing your diabetes?

I'd listen to your doctor. It may be that you need to start by tracking these things until you learn how to listen to your body. You probably got into a habit of eating more of those things than your body really needed and it takes time to let it balance back out

@@y0utuberculosis it doesn’t take eating more of something to become pre diabetic. It just takes eating the things the body doesn’t need.

Colleen, I’m really sorry about these comments. They don’t even know you, and have no right saying these things. You’re amazing and have helped many people!!! I’m sorry these comments are present…

❤ you know what they say about when people assume! We can't see what is going on with someone by the way that they look. Someone may look different based on a variety of things such as medical illness, mental health struggles, life in general, etc! I alway believe in leading with kindness and compassion VS blame and shame if anyone is ever concerned about someone in their life and perhaps asking them how they're doing in general before jumping to their own conclusions (which may not be accurate)

It isnt an assumption that you enjoy being empty... Some people feel good being light as air. You should address the fact that it is okay if you intuitively do not like to eat. Why not? You'll probably make even more money by actually promoting your ED - enough gullible minds out there. Deprived of nutrients and coherant thoughts...

Why would you eat when making a video? That is literally disgusting to watch someone talking with their mouth full
