    Still works fine in 1.20.1. I did have some problems with the returning speed, but I fixed it by placing a bucket of snow between the orange, dark blue and glass block at 3:39. You could also add cobweb instead, which makes it even slower, so then you could even remove the piston/observers system that slows the minecart down and let it return in full speed.

  • @SplittRust
    @SplittRust Před 4 lety

    I built up your system, it works great. Had to slow down the minecart on its way to the unloader, and leaving like a 30-60 block radius of the system while its on completely breaks it. If you find a patch to this please reply. DO NOT LEAVE SYSTEM ON/RUNNING WHEN YOU LEAVE.
    Things I had to fix-
    -Slow down minecart track to unloader
    - Disconnected the power rail connected to the underneath connection of the input chest detector rail and replaced it with a normal rail (this should fix your on/off system)
    -Check your droppers, filter chests, and minecart FREQUENTLY.
    -Add some form of player detector to stop the system if you leave.

    Hi, all. I got it mostly working on Java 1.20.2. The one issue is that my items keep ending up in the bottom chest (not the filter chest) closest to the dropper tower. I made the version with the sticky pistons over the yellow track, and the proper piston contracts while the minecart is moving about, but the items dont end up in that column. I have the glass block at 4:30, so that's not the issue. Any ideas what could be misconfigured? I know it has to be something simple. I'm so close, I can feel it!

  • @Borbarad13
    @Borbarad13 Před 4 lety

    Thanks for keeping up the trouble shooting videos. :)
    I am facing the challenge your present in 3:25, where the minecart doesn't launch occasionally and then is empty, but I am unsure how to solve it. You suggest to change the two repeater settings, but that doesn't make too much sense to me, since a pulse of 4 tick length should be enough to launch the cart again. I am somehow having the suspicion that it is related to chunk loading/unloading (since it rarely happens) and that the pulse never reaches the powered rail in the first place or that it reaches the rail but the entity movement (minecart) is not processed. I am not really up-to-date to lazy chunks and their ability to load redstone and minecarts. Just also to note: I am playing on Spigot and the system works 99% of the time fine.

    • @Borbarad13
      @Borbarad13 Před 4 lety

      I checked gnembons video on chunk loading: czcams.com/video/KnZ5nlQbFvo/video.html
      It looks to me as if minecarts can get frozen in the lazy chunk, but redstone (his piston example) would continue to work. I think that would also mean that powering the minecart while in lazy chunk would render the redstone pulse meaningless. If I come up with a different solution to the "minecart stays on the hopper" problem, I will let you know. What are your thoughts on it?

    • @metamilo
      @metamilo  Před 4 lety

      @@Borbarad13 Yea, that's a possible concern, and it's not just limited to the launch mechanism. gnembon has a chunkloading contraption that you can build that could possibly keep the whole build loaded at once.

    • @metamilo
      @metamilo  Před 4 lety +5

      Unfortunately no, but that's what the shutoff lever is for. If you have to leave while it's processing then you can turn it off, wait for the current cartload to finish, and then you're free to leave or log out.
      That or you could build some chunk loaders to keep it always loaded. Look up 'gnembon chunk loader' to figure out how to build one.

    • @burningicecube2486
      @burningicecube2486 Před 4 lety +2

      While metamilo is right that technically there is no real fix exept for just shutting it off, you can build a chunkloader underneath your storage system to let it run wherever you are in the overworld. if you are on a multiplayer server you might want to ask the admins for permission first.

      Interesting. You may need to use a different circuit for the elevator. Either that or move the elevator back away from the unloading station 1 block so that all the items have to pass over the filter before entering the elevator. The filter just needs to pull those items out before they reach the elevator.

    Shot in the dark as it's been so long, but the dropper elevator keeps depositing items into the 2nd dropper quicker than it empties them; leaving 1-3 items behind that end up getting mis-sorted on the next loop. Any idea why this is happening?

    • @metamilo
      @metamilo  Před 4 lety

      The pistons are there just to reduce the noise of droppers clicking unnecessarily. They aren't essential to the build so I left them out of the tutorial since they seemed to be causing more confusion than they were worth.
      This system isn't configured to handle 16 stackable items. It treats them like unstackables and outputs them to the overflow. You'd need to change the loading mechanism if you want to do 16 stackables. That or just replace the overflow with a standard sorting system.

    @burningicecube2486 Před 4 lety

    I dont know if this is normal but everytime i put an item through the system that cant be matched to anything else it breaks in a spectacular fashion. this happens especially often with nonstackables. the minecart somehow looses its item in one of the sorter chests and proceeds to suck out filters all across the system

    • @metamilo
      @metamilo  Před 4 lety

      This is likely due to a problem with the unload and reconfiguration steps at the end of the track. It's probably slowly loosing blocker items untill it has extra spaces then on it's next run it starts breaking filters. Watch the cart as it goes through unloading and reconfiguration to see if this is the case.

    Items end up in the wrong chests constantly, usually getting dumped in a filter chest. Items sometimes get pulled from their storage chest and inserted into a different filter chest. On-off switch still doesn't work. Java 1.16.2.

    • @metamilo
      @metamilo  Před 3 lety

      If items are being pulled from storage chests, then there is an error in your build. If built correctly it is not physically possible for storage chests to be drained since there is no hopper or hopper minecart that ever exists in a position that could drain them.
      If you're willing to hop on my Discord server and post some screenshots I can help you debug your build. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to get it to work in Java 1.16.2 unless you're on a Spigot or Bukkit server.
