Harry had not even opened his mouth to resist. His mind was
blank, his wand pointing uselessly at the floor.
But the headless golden statue of the wizard in the fountain had
sprung alive, leaping from its plinth, and landed on the floor with a
crash between Harry and Voldemort. The spell merely glanced off its
chest as the statue flung out its arms, protecting Harry.
“What - ?” said Voldemort, staring around. And then he
      breathed, “Dumbledore!”
Voldemort raised his wand and sent another jet of green light at
      Dumbledore, who turned and was gone in a whirling of his cloak;
next second he had reappeared behind Voldemort and waved his
wand toward the remnants of the fountain; the other statues sprang to
life too. The statue of the witch ran at Bellatrix, who screamed and
sent spells streaming uselessly off its chest, before it dived at her, pin-
ning her to the floor. Meanwhile, the goblin and the house-elf scuttled
toward the fireplaces set along the wall, and the one-armed centaur
galloped at Voldemort, who vanished and reappeared beside the pool.
The headless statue thrust Harry backward, away from the fight, as
Dumbledore advanced on Voldemort and the golden centaur can-
      tered around them both.
“You do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore?” called Voldemort, his
scarlet eyes narrowed over the top of the shield. “Above such brutality,
      are you?”
“We both know that there are other ways of destroying a man,
Tom,” Dumbledore said calmly, continuing to walk toward Volde-
mort as though he had not a fear in the world, as though nothing had
happened to interrupt his stroll up the hall. “Merely taking your life
would not satisfy me, I admit -”

      Voldemort.
      “You are quite wrong,”
      “Indeed, your failure to un-
derstand that there are things much worse than death has always been

    Things in The Order of the Phoenix novel that are not in the movie;
Mrs. Fig is a Squib (a person born from a wizarding family but unable to do magic) who was Harry's neighbor for many years. She was even mentioned often throughout the book series. But Harry never knew that Mrs. Fig is actually part of the wizarding community.
Harry actually found out about Hagrid being a half giant by mistake during Goblet of Fire. Hagrid's biological mother, Fridwulfa is a giant. Hagrid's father was a wizard. Grawp is Hagrid's brother by way of their giant mother.
Ron's brother, Percy had a falling out with the Weasley family. He never believed Harry's story about Voldemort's return and was on the side of the Minister of Magic.
Neville's parents are very much alive and are permanent patients at Saint Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies. Because of all the torture that Bellatrix, her husband and Barty Crouch Junior inflicted on them they are mentally damaged. While visiting Mr. Weasley in the hospital Harry, Ron and Hermione come across Neville and his grandmother and was able to meet Neville's parents.
The Weasley twins weren't expelled. They quit school. When Harry won the Tri Wizard Tournament in Goblet of Fire he gave his winnings to the twins. Harry originally tried to give it to Cedric's father but he refused to take it. As a result of Harry giving it to the twins Fred and George started using the money to start a side business and made Harry as a secret investor and silent partner. That is why the twins kept inventing all sorts of magical practical joke sweets throughout Order of the Phoenix.
When the Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny and Luna flew the Thestrals the majority of them couldn't see what it was they were flying. Earlier in the school year they did learn about Thestrals in Magical Beasts class when Hagrid introduced them to the students. Those who had witnessed death had no trouble seeing them. But the rest couldn't and all they saw was raw meat being devoured by some invisible entities. When the group flew the Thestrals it was as if they were flying on thin air. They can feel the animals but couldn't see them.
    In the end of the book when Harry talks to Dumbledore in his office, Dumbledore reveals that the prophecy actually came from Professor Trelawney and it was he who witnessed Professor Trelawney make prophecy while she was in a trance. The prophecy was;
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..."
Dumbledore said that two babies were born at the end of July. Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. Though the prophecy fit Neville just the same as Harry because Neville's parents also defied Voldemort three times, it was Harry that Voldemort chose to kill instead of Neville. It is believed that Voldemort chose Harry because Harry's mother was a muggleborn. Neville's parents are purebloods.
During the last evening at Hogwarts Harry desperately runs to the ghost of Nearly Headless Nick and tries to talk to him about Sirius possibly coming back as a ghost. But Nick tells Harry that the only reason why Nick is a ghost residing at Hogwarts is because he refused to move on to the beyond. He refused to let go and wanted to remain. Nick explained to Harry that Sirius moved on.

@@JakeReactsYT Sirius's death does seem more abrupt in the movie compared to the book imo, where the description of the action makes it seem more like it is happening in slow motion. The portal is explained better in the book too. It is called the Veil and can be interpreted as a threshold or gateway to the realm of the dead beyond the archway. So when Sirius falls through the Veil, he passes through to that realm and dies. The Veil is located in the Death Chamber, one of about a dozen rooms in the Department of Mysteries (beyond the Ministry door that Harry kept dreaming about) each devoted to the study of a particular phenomenon. There is also the Time Chamber, the Brain Room, the Space Chamber, the Love Chamber, etc.
Between Cedric's death in the previous movie and Sirius's death in this one, the story becomes much sadder and Harry's situation feels more dire. And just a warning, there will be more deaths coming up. I was tearing up while watching and reading about Cedric's death but was full on ugly crying over some deaths in the later books/movies.
P.S. I think you mean "I forgot to talk about *Snape* being bullied by Harry's dad" at 37:08. 😉

And there's the most hated character in Harry Potter. The pink menace, Dolores Umbridge. She's not a Death Eater. She's just your every day evil authoritarian behind a simpering smile.
Mrs. Figg was mentioned in the first book so we at least knew something about her. She didn't just pop up in book 5.
Poor Harry. PTSD, survivor's guilt, being kept in the dark, called crazy or a liar, tortured by Umbridge and seeing inside Voldemort's head on top of 15 year old hormones.
Dumbledore picked possibly the worst person other than Umbridge to teach Harry occlumency. He should have known that neither Snape nor Harry could get past their dislike of each other in order for Harry to actually learn properly.

Also a couple clarifying things in the book not in the movie was even though Harry saw his mother die as a baby, one can only see thestrals when they’ve seen death AND processed it & understood the weight of what death is after seeing it. As a baby he didn’t understand or fully process what dying meant but as he got older seeing someone that was close in age to him die was something he could understand the gravity & weight of it. If you go back to the third movie, you’ll notice that the carriages at the very beginning pulling the students in the rain while the frog song is playing shows they are not being pulled by anything, those are the same carriages (they look a little different as the movies evolved) in the 5th movie where Harry sees them so you see this is intentional.

A fact that is not so clear in the films is that traditional rich families intermarry with British nobility.
Sirius Black has three cousins Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa.
    Narcissa is Draco Malfoy's mother
Andromeda is Tonks' mother (the purple-haired witch who rescues Harry from his home). Like Sirus, she was disowned by her family for marrying a Muggle-born.

James Potter was spoiled he was the only heir of an old family. So was Sirius who hated his family and everything they represented so their “pranks” were often plain bullying when it came to Slitherin and Snape was the primary target for the Marauders. It culminated when Sirius lured Snape into the Shrieking Shack on the night of full moon as a “prank. Fortunately James found out and realized that it could end with murder with Sirius as a murderer and Lupin executed as the “murder weapon. He barely managed to get Snape out before he got mauled by a werewolf. James grew up and changed, but yes, as a boy he and the Marauders made Snape’s live at Hogwarts a nightmare.

they are also leaving out stuff on this storyline that's in the books, so let me give you the full story. snape had become a pure blood supremacist, bully, and wannabe deatheater. (doing vicious "pranks" just like the marauders, but on muggle borns and with his fellow slytherins, also avidly using the word mudblood and just general blatant racism) it's quite obvious this wasn't why james and sirius started bullying him, yet i could argue someone into a corner that that is why they did it because the books don't very explicit say that they didn't decide to target him because they thought he was a racist. it's simply a reach. the most it can be is a fan theory. the exact same way that it is merely a fan theory that james didn't change. you are acting like this is fact to a person who thinks you know more facts than him. he has no way of knowing that they didn't outright confirm that this book and that's the info you are giving. at the very least make it clear this is soley an opinion.
also there's no implication let alone confirmation the marauders bullied anyone but snape. still bad obviously, just correcting the original comment as they seemingly misremembered. (giving you the benefit of the doubt you weren't just intentionally lying so it'd look worse for james)

Umbridge isn't necessarily a follower of Voldemort, which is why her awful actions in this film are actually even scarier. She's a follower of power, obsessed with it. She's practically in love with Fudge (as Minister of Magic) in this, but she'd feel the same way about anyone in the highest possible level of authority that could give her a step above others. Umbridge is twisted in the pursuit of power, regardless of who she follows.

33:03 I don't know if someone mentioned it or not (fans usually forget to mention it since there are more important details movie didn't show) but this scene where Dumbledore is finally talking to Harry didn't happen like that. Harry was EXTREMELY mad at Dumbledore for many things - mainly for not telling him about prophecy, keeping secrets, ignoring him whole year, for not teaching him to protect his mind himself and instead letting Snape teach him (but Snape just taught him like "Just do it, Potter" without much explaining), for making Sirius hide for a whole year in his family house he hated which led to Sirius jumping at every opportunity to leave the safe place ... there were a lot
of things. To get to the point, Harry WASN'T CALM at all. He was screaming, arguing, grieving and amongst it all he was DESTROYING Dumbledore's office while Dumbledore calmly let him do anything because he knew he deserved it (not to mention there are other things he didn't say to Harry yet😅😅).
It was actually really satisfying to read, Harry finally getting out everything he was angry about and Dumbledore being scolded by a teenager 😂😂

The way I clicked on this video so fast lol I love how invested you are in this series your reactions are so amazing to witness it makes me feel like I’m watching it for the first time again through your eyes as a first time watcher. It is one of the best written series of books I’ve ever read & also watched as movies because there are so many real world parallels we see in today’s world. In fact I watched an interview where J.K. Rowling was saying that the magic is the only thing that’s different than us because other than that you see that the human condition still does not change. There is still corrupt people in positions of power that abuse it or seek it out at all expense to others, racism (the whole pure blood thing & the fact wizards look down on creatures that are not wizards like house elves, centaurs, giants, & other beings in this Harry Potter world which J.K. wrote specifically to draw an analogy to how people in the real world mistreat those who are different to them) & we see how quick ppl are to believe everything they see on the news or read from journalists who are influenced by govt corruption & agendas (meaning the real world media) without seeking the truth themselves & this movie you see the political shift Harry & his friends experience as they get closer to entering the adult wizarding world which we all have done ourselves growing up we start to see how the masses are manipulated in today’s culture to go along with lies & instill fear in ppl who speak up about it & even the message that displays the lies that are spread about Harry & how he still stands by what he believes in even though not many are with him because he knows the truth no matter who persecutes him is just the message we all need in today’s world with cancel culture. It’s all so well done in the hp series.
Also as if you didn’t need another reason to hate Umbridge…in the books Umbridge was the one that sent the dementors after Harry cuz she knew it would put him in a situation where he would have to use magic when he wasn’t supposed to or kill him & the whole ministry was plotting how to discredit Harry & so she enacted on her own accord & wanted to create a scandal so ppl wouldn’t believe him about voldy being back since the ministry was trying to silence him & was going against their narrative. Just makes her even more hypocritical when she says in that fake squeaky tone of voice in the hearing “so silly of me but it sounded as though you were suggesting the ministry had ordered the attack on this boy” like bro sit tf down 😂😂😂

In Movie version they show Dumbledore very less powerful. Here is the book version in short. Please read it
“But Master - he is here - he is below -”
Voldemort paid no attention. AVADA KEDAVRA!”
Voldemort raised his wand and sent another jet of green light at
    Dumbledore, who turned and was gone in a whirling of his cloak;
next second he had reappeared behind Voldemort and waved his
wand toward the remnants of the fountain; the other statues sprang to
“There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!” snarled
    Voldemort.
    “You are quite wrong,”
    “Indeed, your failure to un-
derstand that there are things much worse than death has always been
    your greatest weakness -”
Dumbledore never failed down in book version. Voldemort was nervous entirely while face Dumbledore. Voldemort go inside Harry coz he failed to face Dumbledore.

    • @dfcarvalho
      @dfcarvalho Před 13 dny +6

It's just yet another failing of Mr. David Yates as the director of these movies. The books always make a point of saying that all the times Dumbledore had to spring into action he almost exerted an aura of power. All his spells seemed more powerful then when other people performed them. Yet in the movie Dumbledore falls over like a confused elderly man in the bathtub. I mean, the name of the chapter where this duel happens is "The Only One He Ever Feared" for god's sake, just shows us why Voldemort fears him!
Also in the scene where Fudge and Umbridge try to take Dumbledore to Azkaban, Dumbledore doesn't just disappear with Fawkes. He literally takes down everybody in the room single-handedly in the blink of an eye, before they even know what hit them. Such a badass moment that gets turned into this boring escape and they use Shackebolt's line of "he's got style" to try and convince us that it was awesome when we book readers know it could have been so much more.

It's Death Eaters versus The Order (of the Phoenix). That "portal" is the veil between life and death. Voldemort let go of Harry because feelings for loved ones repel him. Self-aggrandizing Voldemort is the opposite of "but I'm just, Harry," which is why calling him Tom is brilliant. Luna is a little bit crazy; she believes the absurd stories her father, editor and chief writer for The Quibbler, prints in his little tabloid paper. Some people call her Loony.

(NO SPOILERS) I think nobody has mentioned this yet, but the adult characters are actually much younger than portrayed in the movies. Harry's parents died at 21, so barely even adults, almost kids themselves. And Snape, Sirius and Lupin are only 35 years old in this fifth movie. Voldemort is 70. I think that they should have hired actors with corresponding age and not go for big names only, it would make the tragedies more powerful, because they are not old/mature people dying, they are very young and heavily impacted by the war: the original Order of the Phoenix members were still teenagers, when they had to try beat Voldemort. And as they said in the previous movie, Snape was a Death Eater when he was a teenager too.
I'm enjoying your reactions, looking forward to the next one.

Fun fact - Hogwarts did not let Umbridge into the Headmasters office, it sealed itself against her.
In the books, the Marauders all 4 constantly tormented Snape, because he wanted to be in Slytherin
they always attacked 4 on 1
    also..
in the books, Snape congratulates Harry for getting into his mind by protega -
but ends the lessons when Harry went into the pensieve (th ething Dumbeldore store shis memories in)
where Snape stored his worst memory
so Harry could not see the memory - hes so luckily saw in the movie this way.
Only then did Snape end the lessons.
    And yes, Sanpe contacted Sirius
    and he was home.
Snape also alerted the order, pnce he realized the kids were gone.

Excellent reaction Jake! Okay at marker 2:38 'Now he better not forget this that you saved him, he might not remember but you should remind him' I love that you said that, Jake! Yes, Mrs. Figg we learned about her in book one, she would babysit Harry when the Dursley's went out on their outings, but we only see her for the first time in this movie! Mrs. Figg is a Squib, born into a magical family but he has no magical powers, just like Mr. Filch.
I think they flew on their brooms without being notice by using a "notice me not" charm. Fred and George know how to apparate, to teleport from one place to another except from faraway places.
7:22 Sirius informed Harry that Neville's parents suffered a fate worse than death, they are patients in St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, having gone insane after being tortured by a group of Death Eaters at the end of the First Wizarding War.
Yay, you are introduced to Luna Lovegood! You also saw that Hermione nearly called her Looney, that says that other classmates tease her. I love Luna Lovegood, she's awesome! You'll grow to like her too!
Delores Umbridge portrayed but Imelda Staunton is the most hated character than Voldy in both book and movie! Kudos to Imelda Staunton to bring her to life and made you and many of us hate her character. You are feeling triggered about the whole deal with her character is valid because many of us felt the same way.
21:01 it happened too fast you missed it when Draco Malfoy forcefully pulled Cho into the frame, tells me she was forced by no fault to her.
Now you know why Snape does speaks ill of Harry's father and yet he tries to help Harry but it's just not that easy at this point.
24:06 "but it could be a fake vision" you guessed correctly. Think back when Harry told Snape "He has Padfoot in the place where it's hidden" Snape knew what Harry meant, Snape alerted the order members and Dumbledore in time to show up at the ministry in time to help Harry and his friends. I was quite upset too about Sirius dying, I didn't like reading that and seeing that in the movie. You are ready for "The Half Blood Prince" now. When this is all over watching the HP series, maybe you might be interested in watching the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary 'Return to Hogwarts' special, that came out in 1/1/2022 they are all grown up now and the cast members get to talk about their time filming the series from movies 1-7, behind the scenes info, some cast members couldn't make it due to health reasons or they are no longer with us. okay I have to say this because it slightly pisses me off every time I watch that film and I haven't seen anyone talk about it, it's the way they portray Snape as only the victim of the Marauders (James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew) when in reality Snape wasn't really that innocent and it was more of a mutual hatred, mostly between James, Sirius and Snape. They had a terrible relationship literally since their first meeting on the Hogwarts Express. And in the book the whole scene is portrayed very differently. During a lesson with Snape when he had to leave the room, Harry looks into the Pensieve and sees Sirius and James bully Snape in front of other students.
(Among the students is Lily Evans, Harry's mother who tries to take Snape's side but in return he literally just says "I don't need help from filfthy little Mudbloods like her!" and since then their relationship turns a bit sour, which is understandable). So after Harry saw the memory he's devastated by their behaviour and few chapters later he decides to talk about it to Sirius and Remus though the Floo Powder (in the fireplace in the Umbridge's office btw but that's a long story lol). Harry during the conversation confronts them about James' annoying behaviour and the bullying and Sirius admits he's not proud of what they'd done and that they were idiots but after some time they kind of settled down and stopped hexing people, and when Harry asks about Snape, Lupin answers: "Well,' said Lupin slowly, 'Snape was a special case. I mean, he never lost an opportunity to curse James so you couldn't really expect James to take that lying down, could you?'". Sirius also says "Snape was just this little oddball who was up to his eyes in the Dark Arts, and James - whatever else he may have appeared to you, Harry - always hated the Dark Arts." So my point is, while the Marauder's behaviour was horrible, it wasn't black and white, Snape wasn't all that great either.

I really enjoy your Harry Potter reactions; you notice a lot of detail and are very good at figuring things out!
1:38 Jake: Are you kidding? ("Where is your mom; is she dead?") Sort of. It's not in the book, just the film. Books 3 thru 7 are so much deeper than the films; I think You'd enjoy them.

Hermione called Rita Skeeter back and told her to write an expose about what happened to Harry the previous year. It was published in The Quibbler, Luna's dad's magazine.

Neville’s parents are still alive but they are not in their right minds. Neville’s father, Frank, was an Auror (wizard cop) & when Voldemort disappeared after his failed attack on baby Harry, 4 Death Eaters tortured Frank & his wife Alice in an attempt to get info. The Death Eaters were Rabastan Lestrange, his brother Rodolphus & Rodolphus’s wife Bellatrix as well as Barty Crouch Jr (the guy that impersonated Moody). They tortured the Longbottoms so severely that they basically became catatonic & are now in the Permanent Spell Damage Ward of the wizard hospital, St. Mongo’s. Neville was only 1 1/2 yrs old when this all happened so he was bought up by his grandmother Augusta Longbottom. They visit Frank & Alice at the hospital but they do not recognize Neville.
Neville was using his father’s wand, which is why he struggles with spells. The wand did not choose him nor did he win its loyalty so it doesn’t work properly for him. The wand was broken during the battle with the Death Eaters & Neville gets a new one from Ollivander’s & since his new wand chose him Neville’s magic improves.
It was Umbridge who sent the Dementors after Harry because he had been telling people Voldemort was back & Fudge was talking about discrediting & silencing Harry so Umbridge secretly ordered the attack on Harry.
Dumbledore knew Voldemort was able to read Harry’s mind so he kept his distance & didn’t tell Harry any of the Order’s plans. If Harry knew what the Order was doing there was a chance Voldemort would read his mind & find out their plans. Dumbledore also didn’t want Voldemort to know they were anything more than Headmaster & student so that Voldemort wouldn’t use Harry to “spy” on Dumbledore & the Order of the Phoenix,
Hagrid’s mother was a giantess & his father was a wizard. The mother left & returned to the giants when Hagrid was just a toddler. She had Grawp a few years later.
Luna was reading a magazine published by her father. It’s called the Quibbler & most wizards regard it as their version of the National Enquirer. There was a puzzle in the magazine that required the reader to hold the magazine upset down for the solution.
Sirius has two other cousins - the younger sisters of Bellatrix. One is Andromeda - who was disinherited from the Black family after she married a muggleborn wizard named Ted Tonks. They are the parents of Nymphadora, the woman who you recognized. The other cousin is Narcissa who married Lucius Malfoy & is the mother of Draco.

Dumbledore put all kinds of spells on the Dursley's house to help protect Harry. Ms. Fig was a squib, born to magical families but can't perform magic, in the books the Dursley's often left Harry in her care, not knowing she was from the magical world herself. Harry Potter is rich without the winnings from the tri-wizard tournament. His father's family was rich and Harry inherited that fortune. The Black family was also rich and Sirius left it all to Harry.

You should seriously check out the deleted scenes after you finish the series. They have compilations on youtube with all the deleted scenes. There a scene between Harry and Dudley that wasnt included in the movies that completely changed how I saw their relationship. It's been a while since i read but I think it was in the books
Edit: I actually had to look this up but yes, Harry did find the Mirror of Erised in the Room of Requirment in the first movie. Thats such a good callback, but its also very sad because that means Harry NEEDED to see his parents for the room to open.
Also, your face when Dumbledore shows up to fight Volde is exactly why I watch these videos. Calling him Tom was the most gangster thing I've seen in these movies. DUMBLEDORE IS THE GOAT
