I did this yesterday and my god was it fucking brutal. The true final boss is the unskippable cutscenes in between phases
Lmao a truer sentence has never been spoken. I didn't die a lot this time due to already doing it once but my god yes, having to watch the cutscenes everytime gets a bit grating lol.
When I first went through on normal I wiped on the Aerith/Cloud duo and chose the wrong “retry battle” option. An hour later, I was back to that step lol.
@@davidhunter1555 nooooooooooo I hate that, my friend did that on remake with the last battle and thankfully told me which option to pick to avoid that. That sucks so much dude.
@@davidhunter1555seems like the testers of this game were drunk or not paid enough to care, but that english of “retry from last battle” and then a goddamn 2nd same shit 4 multiple choices window where i picked again “retry from last fuckin battle” only to start all these phases all over again. This game was a 12 out of 10 for me. Now it’s a 9/10 cause they screwed up all the buildup to the final ending so damn bad, I’d fire all the ceos in SEnix for this mistake if i could…

Perfect, this is the only chapter I have left for hard mode. After that it's just the last two brutals and legendaries and I'm platinum. Let'sgooooooo

Legit probably the most intense final boss Square has ever done. Most of my hard mode playthrough was simple despite some bad hiccups like Rufus and Gi Nattak but the fact you have to go through essentially 5 bosses in a row is crazy. Barely won the last fight thanks to limit siphon and a lucky forward thrust.

One thing I noticed to how the party order is set up is how the party orderly appears at the start of Jenova battle and see them as character A, B, C, D, E.
*Restarting the battle will not change the order so this can be exploited to set up materias for your party*
Jenova:
Phase 1: Cloud x A x B
Phase 2: Cloud x A x B
Phase 3: Tifa x Cait
Phase 4: Barret x Red
Phase 5: Cloud x Yuffie
Phase 6: Cloud x D x E
Sephiroth:
Phase 1: Cloud x Zack
Phase 2: Cloud
Phase 3: Cloud
Phase 4: A x C x E
Phase 5: Zack
Phase 6: B x C x D
Phase 7: Cloud x Aerith
Thanks mate. This was really helpful. I agree with the comment saying that the true final boss is the unskippable cutscenes. It's so frustrating to sit through them after a failed attempt. Hopefully they patch it and make them skippable. They're really good on the first watch, but having to rewatch them when you're already frustrated is annoying.
This worked fine, It was actually fairly easy.
Most important was building cloud and aerith. I put synergy quake on aerith so she can cast when cloud does something, helped with the wings /sword on seph.
On the rest I put expeditionary medal and gotterdammerung. Used their limit on the duo fights. Prayer on yuffie and barret since they get atb fast. + red has healing with his veng skills. then space out some magnified barrier, some healing and chakra and whatever you want.
Hardest part was just getting used to sephirot moves, and having to wait for that unskippable scene.
That elemental phase… on my dynamic-playthrough I had barret, red and Tifa without magic equipped. x) I‘m close to the end now in hardmode, but watching this video I'm a little bit afraid. Last thing to do for Platinum tho. xD
Edit: Your guide was a great help, had to retry several phases but at least you haven't to start over completely. xD Finally Platin! Sadly I forgot asses-materia again for last-phase-sephiroth -.- but I guess I can redo that on easy-mode.. sometime.. before part 3 launches.. xP
They put me vs Bahamut with Cait Sith, Tifa and Yuffie, none of which had manawall, so that was a swift kick in the crotch. 1 Restart later (from Cloud vs Zack) and it was done. Great work on all the guides, Subbed to see where it goes next.
Idk if it'll work but I'm on Chapter 13 and plan to use this team build for the remainder of the game. Mostly because I'm worried about not optimizing all my characters enough for specifically this gauntlet when the time comes. lol.
Thank you so much for these vids. You got me through Zak and Sephiroth's challenges. Sephiroth's was easier of course, but knowing that spin trick helped a lot.

My face when I hit continue when I booted up and was at the elevator lmao. Luckily the only hard part for me was jenova, but it’s so annoying the trophy doesn’t pop until after the final cutscene at the airship.
I died to sephiroth nuking aerith, and cloud did not have revive, so better just restart it, wanted to do a quick restart from current phase- For some reason my brain made me do restart from current battle...
Probably the most annoying platinum I’ve ever done by far lol. Thank you!
Solid guide. Wasn’t nearly as hard as my mind was making me believe it would be. Funny enough, the hardest part for me was probably the friggin wing with Barrett and Red. Platinum in the bag 🤘🙏
i got the platnium, thanks for your hard work putting these videos together...Imma stay subscribed to ya, in 3 yrs, in the final installment well be looking for ya to show us how to beat Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, Titanium, and Adamantium Weapons (10 Million HPs each) back to back (for the warm ups) then fighting Hades/ typhoon and Bahamut ZERO and Knights of the Round (all 13 knights at the same time) back to back with no checkpoints (knowing thats probably what they gonna do)

unfettered fury punch cancel on Tifa generates ATB insanely fast. I find it better than using unbridled a 2nd time (or once with concentration)
A video for Hard Mode Gi Nattak would be really helpful. I barely use Barret and NEVER use Red, so that fight has been a pain in the ass for me lol.

Random question, I don’t seem to have third linked materia slot on the rune blade eventhough I’ve maxed every weapon and folio.
How did you manage to get three linked slots on the rune blade?
See I'm not 100% sure never noticed till people started pointing it out. But it's party or weapon level it must be lol.
@@Solestro I ended up just using slipstream blade for the final gauntlet but yes I can confirm it’s tied to the SP on clouds weapons. Level 10 I got after beating sephiroth on hard mode which unlocked the third linked materia slot on the rune blade. Super helpful guide by the way, cheers for all the help.

I'm doing the final battle later. I'm giving Cloud Gamble so he can play off of whoever he is fighting with. I solved the problem of not enough support materia for everyone by giving Cloud the good magic armor with no slots on it since Cloud mostly gets by through the endgame on skill and combat so I don't think he needs much to ace
Did this a few days ago, just wanna say, when you say that’s why they give you yuffie, for the elemental wings part, they do not, it’s still random, on hard that section gave me red tifa and cait sith, you aren’t guaranteed yuffie so plan accordingly with that phase because you most definitely are not guaranteed whoever you’ve set up to deal with the elemental wings.
Haha I was expecting to get yuffie and didn't. Definitely made that part harder for me than it had to be
Wow really!? I must be very lucky then cause I've done it 3 times and always got yuffie. That's why I did it to test it 🤣. Sorry about the wrong info there.
@@Solestro no worries lol thankfully that phase isn’t the worst to dodge around and wait for the hands to change elements. In my normal playthrough I got tifa barret and yuffie, hard mode tifa cait red. I’m just wondering what causes it, like in remake atb usage against the harbingers determined who’d join you for sephiroth, wonder if this time it has something to do with the jenovah wing/head section ls maybe, or it’s just completely random.

@@Solestro I can also confirm that the party across the gauntlet is somewhat randomized. I unfortunately got Tifa, Red and Cait for the Bahamut fight when I put magnify manawall on Barrett, and I had no Yuffie for the elemental wings fight so I had to use the crappy magic attacks that don’t use mp, but as you said, after everything after Jenova is comparatively easy even with my bad RNG.
I hope you’ll stick around for the next game, what will we do without these insane strats :)

Helps with the magic build. Increases magic damage etc.
No Idea how you Can do 12K with Magic.
Have the same build, everything maxed out with Genji and my best was 7000 thousand.

You using prime mode and getting the buffs from that? That gives you major damage increase.

Could u please tell us about your accessories and armors too ?
The accessories and armour can just be whatever you feel is best. Only thing I would suggest is make sure Aerith has the chocokings cape on for extra ATB when it comes to the fights/final fight. Cloud just needs the genji gloves to break the damage limit.
I just put random accessories on everyone else.

Ive done the first 3 chapters on hard now but i just keep putting off the rest cuz i cba to keep switching materia about every chapter boss 😅
Lmao I was the same. Every chapter I was like " are you kidding me!? I just switched this!" In the end I just gave everyone random materia except cloud lol.

I almost have platinum trophy. Just have to finish Cactuar crusher's last stage hard mode for Aerith and then I have to do all of hard mode and complete the box throwing with Cait Sith and then do all the brutal and legendary challenges 😆
You made that final part with Sepiroth seem so easy. I am not properly geared so he is destroying me. I really hate the fact that for me to go back and get properly geared I would have to go back and lose all that progress. But I might have to do it. These unskippable cut scenes are killing me. It is like the devs are purposely taunting me. But I am too stubborn to rage quit! LOL!!

Haha yeah when there's a bunch of bosses together it can be pretty difficult. It's more the MP than anything.
Guess who got stuck without yuffie on that stage where you can only damage the wings with the appropriate magic???
Lol don't know how i got through it, I literally only had aero magic on barret and tifa....who I might add were not kitted on magic builds, smh.
It's one of the worst things about the fight the randomness of it. Like I said the first time I completed hard mode and got the plat 3 of my characters didn't have materia on 😂. Did you manage to get past it?
@Solestro I did! Unlike you I got stuck in quite a few parts though -.-. Mainly the buhumut fight and surprisingly the very last encounter. Unfortunately my cloud setup was really poorly optimized I had an in-between Magic and physical build and I found myself struggling to do enough damage to sephi when he enters that last tornado whisper form at the end. I managed to get through it by doing two of the synergy attacks to get my limit with cloud to level 3 and finishing him off with that.
And retrospect I'm sure the berserk/aga spell strat would have worked just fine but I didn't start using that til the VR fights with Zack and sephiroth which I did after my hard playthrough.
Haha I definitely made it harder for myself. People will have a much easier time with this fight with your guidance.
@@jayyg1221 hey a win is still a win, doesn't matter how many tries it took to get you there lol. Yeah it's all about the balance you need to make it through the first initial fights which can be harder and then you can trivialise the fight with Sephiroth if you have the build set up.

@Solestro after the hard playthrough I had the solo VR fights then the Zack and sephiroth fights. A couple Miscellaneous trophies with the stagger percentage and getting all abilities maxed out (never did aerith's sacrificial attack, side note: that ability was pretty trash). Following that the platinum was mine!!

The hard mode of this game has made me fucking hate it. Cant wait to be done with this game
The absolute worst even worse than the unskippable cutscenes is that you have to rearange the whole build again. I'm really struggeling and if you show every marteria would really help
Like I said the materia is pretty random apart from cloud and Aerith it's just a bunch of materia to fill in the slots and give the characters some power. Yeah I made sure all the materia was set before the fight cause that's such BS that it does that.
Just make sure each character has some sort of heal, some magic. Hp up MP up and whatever else you like. You should be fine

Then there's me who gets to Bahamut without Baret, and therefore no one to cast magnify manawall ....
So i restarted the Zack duo fight to give more people mag mana, only to then struggle with Heartless Angel since i didn't have limit 🤦🏿♂️all these unskipable cutscenes
Then to finally get past Bahamut, only to not have Yuffie when you need to just attack the wings 🤦🏿♂️ Thankfully I had Tifa, so Divekick spam made that super quick.
I saw someone mention the dragon. Most of the fights weren’t hard so I thought they were bluffing but it is a challenge- not looking forward to chapter 14
Yeah the dragon was probably the hardest boss in the game for me. It's not it's difficult it kinda ignores it's mechanic lol. You are supposed to cripple it's chest to stop it from frying you. I did that everytime on my stream and didn't stop it filling the entire arena full of fire and killing me. So in the end I just mana walled everyone and tanked it lol.

That one was getting me too. What helped me was a carefully timed party heal when the lava ground is happening, since it doesn't interrupt actions
@@elpainto1 why is this the longest chapter ever though-- like I skip the cutscenes with me being on hard mode and I’ve been playing this thing all day (and I finished the dragon when you responded). I just got to the final boss though. Kinda annoying but definitely not impossible. Really tired of reslotting materia for my characters though 😫
Oh yeah I get that about reslotting. For a static party it's fine, but juggling split parties can get pretty tedious
I used your exact same build and have played for two days at 6+ hours and died every single time. Useless. I don’t know how you managed it other than complete f**** luck
