I hopefully think that it's normal for us f2p players to have a really hard time to reach the characters into SSS. So Even if It's just S or SS, you could still enjoy the fight and feel that your teams are strong enough.
Usually it's just have your S Rank characters reach SS rank with Sigs to start being able to hit competitive scores in PPC and Warzone. I've been going for those 580k Ultimate PPC boss scores recently, and all the ones I can't manage to beat are the ones where my teams have 1 or more of my key damage dealing S Ranks don't have their SS ranks unlocked. I can't seem to beat Pterygota Queen with base S Rank Luna, can't beat Machiavelli without SS Glory (my Plume IS SS Rank, but it's just barely not enough). I'm proud to say that I finally unlocked my Rosetta's SS, and I finally hit the 580k score for both Alpha and Musashi PPC. But my Alpha's not SS Rank, and it shows because I can't get a high enough damage threshold with fighting PPC Qu. SS Rank is fully attainable for all f2p, but it just takes a while is all, and not having SS Rank DOES slow your progress towards unlocking other SS Ranks through PPC Skulls.
Always keep in mind y'all that you're playing a gacha game. That means that you actually have to spend tons of real money to be competitive. If you're F2P and wanna be in the top 10 in all game modes, you're dreaming way too high cause most likely those players in the leaderboards are spenders. It may be irritating to read this, but that is the truth. At the end of the day, it is still a gacha game.
@@artOVtrollinghi light spender here. Yes you are correct. I am super close to legend and only been playing 3 months. I only buy the bundles and all of my main DPS are ss minus balter who is SSS. It's all about using your nogging, patience cuz serum, and actually playing the game. But yeah, imagine whalin in any game to be top 10%
I think the only reason you’d want to push SSS or SSS+ is if you really REALLY love playing that character and want to play them constantly. That’s why my Sophia is SSS+ is because she’s my favorite.
@@broku221 correct but if you really wanted to play only alpha for example you could realistically spend all black cards on her and build other teams with A ranks or limited S ranks. It's not optimal but perfectly playable
this is why imo being a light spender (BP + Monthly) is the best way to enjoy these type of games. Being a light spender means you can still have a decently powerful account while also not being overpowered that makes the game easy and boring. If you have some extra cash to burn why not spend it for the character that you truly like.
In China characters are unofficially categorized into different generations, generally speaking every S after Liv Empyrea is Gen 2 with timestop being the signiture mechanic, when every element has a full team of current gen characters, the major power creep will happen, it's by design to make you spend money constantly, PGR is a gacha game after all.
Its pretty reassuring to hear that. I started in the nanami patch with the pc client, and the talk about ss or ss3 being necessary for some characters stressed me the fk out.
I would say power creep is real. It does make things easier of course. But skill is also a really important aspect in the game. I copied the settings of siren showed at the beginning of the video, using a SS team, i could reach a 25s kill time in the first try, which is the same time as Broku using a SSS+ team. So getting your skills is really important. Just like the Broku Alpha run vs the MVP one, good skills can save you a lot of money. Kuro designed every endgame content to be beatable with f2p investment, so stop complaining.
Yep, you can definitely get better runs than what I showed. I showed for what I considered an average skilled players run would look like! It also depends on how much mald you do.
Wallet-kun is safe, I know from Arknights how having too many strong units can drain the fun out of a game, until you have to place arbitrary restrictions on yourself to enjoy the game again. Also, all the meta bros recommending to skip Haicma were wrong.
It definitely is real, but the fact that Kuro tries to remedy this by introducing Leap upgrades to the older chars is quite heartening. It might mean they will try to introduce ways to bring up the older chars instead of nerfing newer, more cooler things. This way, the team probably wont be limited by power concerns, and can focus on making more fun thing, and bring improvement to older content.
I enjoy killing the bosses even if I am not that proefficient or have even complete teams (I am lvl 87 still half noob), I feel good each time I am able to kill a boss in hell difficulty, I have played Honkai Impact 3rd for years and I didn't wanted to believe when people said to me that PGR was more fun to play, but yeah... While honkai is fine in general, I really feel absolute boredom each time I have to play the memorial arena in Honkai (the equivalent to PGR's pain cage) not because the bosses in HI3rd are boring by themselves but because the sandbox in Honkai is so META dependant that if you don't have one of the most proefficient compositions to kill a boss, the fight turns into a really awful and annoying experience, while in PGR I find myself challenging my limits all the time, because the gameplay is fun so even some of the old A characters are fun to use against the bosses. The only characters that I have decently build (for now) are OG Alpha and Gigachad Camu, I am working in my other characters but I have found more efficient to work on one character at a time.
Definitely the best way, once you have 1 of each (which you do) best thing to do is level 2 more S ranks to max for a full usable team! Feel free to check out my beginers guide where I cover that and more ✌️
Whaling in PGR is really insignificant and I like that honestly. I'm a light spender and my only SSS base S is Kamui, just got "lucky" with pulls, but I am happy since I actually really like him. I enjoy the balance where SSS+ base A ranks and SS base S ranks are pretty much on the same pedestal because going above that is only for whales. And as proven here, it only helps you get better scores in WZ or Pain Cage. You can pass all content with decked out SS teams. I got to Hero just this week using such teams.

You can clear it as long as you manage your debuffs. Norman? You can clear up to stage 5 out of 6 and get most of the rewards. Warzone? You only need enough warzone points to buy 2 memory resonance per month and you even have allowance to buy memories. PPC? You can clear it and still get the rewards. Let's not even talk about the story. You can clear that with anything. Plus, you can get every characters as long as you save. Whaling is just for quality of life and leaderboards.

Aiming to save up for SSS Alpha CW with her weapon and CUB because she's the one who got me to play PGR. Two things I'd like to point out though. 5:04 People say "useable" as in "useable over other farmable A-Ranks" as you can get those up to SSS+ and do better than natural S ranks. Also, yes there's power-creep, but in your Vera and Alpha CW comparison remember Vera is a tank even though her damage is crazy.
Glad you enjoyed the video! For this example Vera is a tank who out damages Bianca who is an S rank attacker so attacker vs tank is irrelevant. In regards to my statement at 5:04 these rumours applied to upcoming S ranks as farming A ranks is free outside of the serum used.
Actually, SSS is really good but not for attackers. For tanks however it affects the team much more because at SSS their class skill gets doubled, same thing for amps. Their atk and element up gets increase from 10% to 20% which is quite a lot. Attacker and support contstructs don‘t get much from being SSS at least not yet Also, starting from Dark Karens patch the new ranks get introduced and Dark Karen for example wants SS2 So she can get 3 instead of just 2 tripple pings for her core.
tank sss doesn't give them 2x shred, from my knowledge only rosetta sss give her 2x lance of perception shred(QTE/blue orb shred). Vera: sss gives shield and 10% more shred from thunderfall. Kamui: just 3ping damage :/ Chrome: also 10% more shred from core. only way to increase class shred is resonance.
guys dont forget we play this game because it looks sick, not because of the big numbers. you can find big numbers in any game. but not enjoyment. so dont let this SSS+++ scare you from having the characters you truly want to pull.

Totally agree. There is a big misconception in the community that you need SSS and beyond to stay competitive or make the character worthwhile, but that's simply not the case. There are some fringe cases like A2, but for the most part, you should only SSS or SSS+ characters you actually like. The power boost does help, and sometimes like for Rosetta, its the difference of 80% shred vs 100% shred, but having more well built characters and established teams will always be better. In fact, I'd argue that if you're a dolphin, you should just focus on signature weapons + weapon resonances more since that gives the biggest boost in power relative to the cost of investment.
I think your advice to "just enjoy the current characters and the game in its current state" is super accurate and true. I see so many people talking about how they're saving for Alpha already, and skipping other characters they want but don't want to spend their summons BECAUSE they're saving for Alpha, and I can't help but think they're crazy since Alpha's still like, 8 months away still. Stop torturing yourself and just summon 1 copy of the character that's tempting you. EVERYONE coming out before and after CW Alpha is tremendously good, so there's no point worrying about whether you need SS or SSS Alpha to make her amazing or not. Just go for who you want.
Its a shame because old alpha was power crept and new alpha will be again in time. Something else I've seen a lot of is people also seem to over save as well, due to bad planning or just lazyness (not looking things up on Google) so they end up skipping half the roster they didn't need to when they would have enough bc for both characters.
@@broku221 I checked the SSS and SSS+ skills for CW, they didn't seem to have any gameplay contribution, only power buffs, wouldn't that be compensated by team play? The only reason I'd find that appealing is solo CW, but tbh I didn't find Alpha herself appealing, call me biased but her animations were too slow and I heard you can't cancel them, that's pretty tough to play tbh, I prefer CA in that regard
Garnet is a tank, CW is an attacker. It's comparing sub dps to a main dps. Although, Veritas herself couldn't hold a candle infront of Garnet... Lol. Her burst dmg is comparable to or better than Luna.
Ehh.... Those "just alpha" runs aren't just alpha. QTEs were used so shred was applied. Crimson Weave is a bit like Luna with long up times. In most boss runs you would only stay on CW. You point stands though. Yes, power creep is a real thing in this game

This only applies to non natural S rank characters though, S ranks are playable without having to scrap for every little bit of power obtainable.

And that isn‘t to say you need them at SSS or SSS+, merely that it affects the units quite a bit
and that in the future, certain gameplay aspects of a unit are hidden behind ranks akin to Vera who had the thunderfall after ult locked behind SS
