How hard it must have been for Bruce and the guys to perform this song without Donna and so soon after her death.......God Bless you Bruce! We love you!
In times of quarantine, here I am watching videos. It´s not easy to sing as Donna Summer used to sing this song, but the girl did it great. And about Joe Esposito, I still love him so much. He still has one of the best voices I´ve ever heard in my whole life.
Esposito can sing better than todays male singers he's amazing!!! Luv 2- Bruce and daughters Donna Summer his wife had such a powerful gift I will always play her music these guys Brooklyn Dreams were great then and still are. God bless!!!
This is the female singer of "Alive & Kicking" and the great song they re-did from back in the ol' days, called "Tighter and Tighter" -- fabulous talent!!!
They did this four month's after Donna's passing. Joe sounded great. And, before he mentioned who he was singing with, I thought it might be Shakira. Lol
This brings back many personal memories. I worked with Joe's wife Lynda and was a huge fan of Brooklyn dreams. Their logo was a modified NY subway token. Lynda gave me one for my birthday and I wore it for decades.
THE GREAT 'BROOKLYN DREAMS' DANCE BAND, & STILL' W. ALL OF THEIR ORIG. MEMBERS TOO!! MR. JOE 'BEAN' ESPOSITO' STILL SOUNDING AMAZING! IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN?.. HE WAS LAST HEARD ON THE 'KARATE KID' SOUNDTRACK, SINGING 'YOU'RE THE BEST AROUND'. THE ENTIRE BAND CAN STILL BE SEEN IN THE CASABLANCA RECS./ FILM WORKS PRODUCTION OF THE 'HOLLYWOODS KNIGHTS' MOVIE; PLAYING THE 50'S DOO WOO BAND THAT PERFORMS AT THE SCHOOL PROM DANCE!
The female singer Elaine tears it up. Fantastic vocal and fearless. Wonderful it takes serious guts to tackle Donna summer. Unreal job with Donna summers husband five feet away
Valeu gostei da apresentação faltou a 🌟 principal a morena linda alegria em pessoa a Diva que não está mais entre nós ..........saudade é infinita como o amor ........
Damn, Great job! Joe certainly has not lost a thing. Anyone know where this was filmed? It looks to be Nassau County but was it at a park show or something?
+sunboyfun The Town of Hempstead has a mobile trailer that goes to the different parks around the town with all kinds of entertainment. It is at beach parks, festivals, celebrations throughout the summer into the fall.
At 3:22 it looks like Bruce has had enough of Heaven Knows. I agree it must be hard for Bruce to sing this song so soon after Donna's passing, 5 months. Props to you Bruce. I read an interview with Bruce about his new album Burbank Sessions is about his new love he's in love again. Life goes on...
+j flo Actually, the opposite is true. Bruce was telling Joe to extend the ending and do some vocal ad libs. Unfortunately, our keyboard player who was the musical director at the time ended the song. If you listen closely, half the band continued to play the chorus and the rest of the band followed the keyboardist. This is what happens when you don't follow the vocalists, which is the cardinal rule of performing. Never hang the singer out to dry.
+megavega4 Thank you for setting me straight. I should know better than to assume. It was a great performance by everyone on that stage I watched the video again and see that the keyboard player ended the song. I am in awe at the way musicians and singers interact when performing. The timing has to be perfect. I watched all the songs performed at that concert and they were all amazing. It looks like you guys always play together not just a 1 time concert. I fell in love with rock and roll in 1970 when I went to my first concert which was Mad Dogs & Englishmen at the Filmore East.
+j flo Thank you VERY much. If I told you that we threw this performance together with 2 rehearsals, would you believe me? Bruce, Joe and Eddie got together at Eddie's house one day and then they rehearsed with the full band a few days before this show. They hadn't sang together in over 20 years. Goes to show you that true professionals can get it together in no time. I was beyond impressed with them and would play with them again in a heartbeat.
+megavega4 Could fool me with the level of professionalism displayed in this concert. I hope you get your chance to play with them. All of you were outstanding.
They both did a nice job. From 40 years back, though, here is the live version to which all others will be compared: czcams.com/video/NqDT0unWlCM/video.html
R Rich... what does YOUR musical resume look like? Obviously Elaine was good enough for Bruce, Joe and Eddie to let her share the stage with them. And I don't think ANYONE was trying to be Donna Summer. It's so sad that people have to resort to negativity when trying to compliment someone else. She was MORE than just "not bad." Grow up...
+j flo I'm the bassist in this video and I agree with you. We initially weren't going to do the song out of respect for Bruce, since Donna had just passed away a few months earlier. However, it was SUCH a huge hit that it was nearly impossible NOT to do it. So Pepe suggested that we do the alternate version, with Joe singing lead and Elaine doing Donna's part in the call and response, thereby putting more of the focus on Joe. Bruce was pleased with that compromise and what you saw was the result. Elaine was all too excited to perform the song with Joe, since Donna was an influence on her. Elaine doesn't need to be Tina Turner or Donna Summer. She's her own person and is one of THE most talented vocalists I've ever worked with in my 33 years in this industry. R. Rich is just an idiot with his comments.
+megavega4 I agree I thought she was great. She was not trying to imitate Donna or Tina & I found her to be respectful.. I would go see her if she was performing locally. I find when some people are anonymous they make nasty comments and be disrespectful of others on You Tube. I refrain from making comments but the person slamming the singer was way off base. I wish I could sing like her or play an instrument but I cannot do either.
This lady wasn't bad howevery, putting it like Ike Turner told Tina Turner while he dragged her to the car from the Holiday Inn in "What's Love Got To Do With It", "YOU AIN'T NO DONNA SUMMER!"
Fantastic performance!! Esposito is fabulous and the woman singing Donna's part sounds incredible as well. Love it!
How hard it must have been for Bruce and the guys to perform this song without Donna and so soon after her death.......God Bless you Bruce! We love you!
